Hostage

Alicia’s POV

It had been too cute that Zacky had asked me during the drive over to Brian’s house if this was a date. Or if I wanted it to be a date…
I told him, why not call it a date… there was nothing wrong about it.

I was feeling like in high school again or something, seeing Caroline looking at me with a grin in the side mirror and I had to suppress a giggle.
Zack had grabbed my hand after that and behaved like a real gentleman, not that he hadn’t been all gentleman before, now he was even more attentive to me.
And honestly I enjoyed that really much, but all my joy and happy mood vanished in a heartbeat when I saw Matt opening the door to Brian’s house.
I didn’t know why I didn’t think that he would be there, that I didn’t think that he would be there alone… because he wasn’t…
He stood at the door staring at me, then the blonde woman walked towards him laying his arm around him, they acted like the owner of the house.
Zacky made the awkward introductions and Matt didn’t even seem it necessary to greet me fully.
I shook my head a little disappointed at his reaction and heard Val, Matt’s girlfriend apparently calling him babe and ushering him in the kitchen to get the drinks.
Zack helped me out of my jacket and showed me the way to the backyard. I quickly sat down next to Caroline and Zack took the seat on my other side.
I looked around and saw a similar woman to Val standing at the buffet and preparing the food.
She came over and held her hand out with a smile and introduced herself as Michelle and Brian’s wife.
“She is Val’s twin sister.” Zack whispered to my ear.
“I can see that. But I was confused for a second.” I whispered back.
Then I saw Matt walking out towards us. I tried not to look at him, he was waking feelings inside of me that I thought and now knew were wrong.
Seeing him here with his girlfriend, the girlfriend he had while he made love to me, while he had kissed me and touched me like a lover…
I shook my head and saw Matt standing before me, looking at me but not saying anything.
“Hey.” Finally he broke the silence.
“Hi.” I replied looking at him and I had to admit that he looked good, damn good…
“Will you give us the beer?” Zack asked Matt but Matt didn’t react just kept staring at me.
“The beer?” Zack asked again and waved a hand in front of Matt.
“Huh?”
“Will you give us the beer?” Zack asked again and Matt shoved the bottles at him.
“Here.”
“Alicia, can I talk to you for a second?” Matt asked me and I looked at him a little shocked.
“I.. I don’t think that’s a good idea..” I shook my head. I didn’t want to be alone with him. What does he want to talk to me about anyway?
“Give me a second, please.” Matt begged.
“Fine, will you excuse me.” I patted Zack’s thigh gave him a small smile and he nodded.

We walked inside and Matt guided me into the foyer and turned towards me.
“How are you?” Matt asked and grabbed my hands in his. I pulled them away and frowned at him.
“I’m okay, what do you want to say?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“I.. I wanted to talk to you.” Matt frowned at me.
“Now?”
“Why not?”
“Why not like a week ago?” I said and regretting saying it right away, letting him know how much I had longed to hear from him.
“I wanted to call you… but I had a lot to do.. I mean…” Matt said and looked a little uncomfortable.
“Oh right, with being a rockstar and spending time with your girlfriend, right? A girlfriend you didn’t even tell me about, when we…” I shook my head not wanting to think about it.
“Alicia, don’t… She is not my… We were a couple but had a break before I…” Matt began but this sounded so much like an excuse that I just didn’t want to hear it.
Why was I reacting so strongly towards him…?! In both ways… shit!
I breathed deeply in and out “You are right, Matt… Listen I am sorry. It’s none of my business.”
I sighed heavily, “I just thought after everything we have been through that you… you know still wanted to be my friend… but I got it. So… let’s just enjoy the evening with friends, right?!” I said it fast, because I was sure if I would be standing here any longer I would give in and tell him how hurt I really felt.
“What?” Matt looked completely confused now, making a step towards me.
“What are you talking about. Sure, I wanted to contact you. I don’t want to shut you out, but I really had a lot of things to do… believe me I was about to call Zack and ask for Caroline’s number so I could contact you.” Matt said and I frowned.
“Speaking from Zack… why are you here with him? How do you know him anyway?” Matt asked crossed his arms now over his chest.
“He is a friend of Caroline and Brad so we spend time together… We became friends…” I shrugged my shoulder not wanting to get into any details.
“Friends?” Matt lifted an eyebrow at me.
“Yes and?” I shot back getting a little annoyed with his attitude now.
“Doesn’t look like just friends to me.” Matt stated.
“He was there when I needed a friend, which let us become close in a short time.”
“Needed a friend? Of course after the abduction you needed a friend, but you could also come to me… called me.” Matt turned tables now and made me the bad person.
I had enough of this now “You know what, I had other things to do, I had to face my fears in the time I was out of that hellhole we have been through and I won’t apologize for the time I spent with Zack or anything, he was there when I had to be in the hospital, when I waited for the call.” I realized what I just said and put my hand in front of my mouth to silence myself.
Matt’s eyes widened “You had the appointment at the hospital already? Shit Alicia. I didn’t know.” Matt walked forward and pulled me finally into his arms.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I would have gone with you?” He held me on arms length scanning my body as if he could see if I was ill again or not.
“Are you alright? Is it back? Are you ill?” Matt looked me up and down again.
“I don’t know yet. I am waiting still for the call.” I said quietly and Matt pulled me in his arms again.
“I am so sorry. I wanted to be there… I will be there the next time, call me. Call me when you got the appointment.” I shook my head at his chest.
“That’s not why I said it, damn it.” I pushed away from his embrace.
“What did they say when you were in the hospital? Did they make more tests?” Matt asked and sounded really concerned.
“Yes, they did. They told me there weren’t completely sure after the firsts tests, the results weren’t clear.” I shrugged my shoulders.
“Will you call me when you get the call?” Matt asked and I sighed.
“Fine, if you insist.”
He held his phone out and I typed my number inside, he gave my phone a call so I had his number as well.
After that we stood there looking at each other not saying a work until we were interrupted from Val.
“Matt? Babe?” Val yelled.
Matt sighed, “What?” He yelled back not moving away.
“Brian needs your help at the barbecue.” Val’s voice sounded nearer now and a second later she stood in the doorway looking from Matt to me and back.
Her eyes narrowing down on me. “I bet you have a lot to catch up, but Brian is asking for you, babe.”
“No, actually we were done.” I said and walked back outside.
