you saved me

As Zack and I sat and ate our breakfast, I noticed he was on his phone alot. When we finished I took out plates to the sink. "Baby, why are you limping?" Zack said, sounding really concerned. "My knee hurts," I began to explain, "I think it's going to rain today." As I finished loading the dishwasher I turned to see Zack had been standing behind me.
"I have a supprise for you," he said before leaning in for a kiss. Our lips met for a few shot seconds of heaven before we parted. "Let's go get dressed," he said before grabbing my hand and pulling me up the stairs.
"So," I said as we entered the room, "what should I wear for this supprise?" Zack shrugged, "whatever you want, you don't need to dress up." I slipped on a pair of sweat pants, a tank top and my flip flops. Once dressed I forced a brush through my hair and pulled it back. "Ready?" Zack said with a grin. I nodded and we walked hand in hand downstairs and to the car.
I didn't recognize where we were going but I could tell Zack was really excited about whatever it was. We pulled to a stop outside a small building. Zack got out and came around to open my door. Once I was out of the car he grabbed my hand again and we walked towards the building.
Once inside I realized that the other four guys from the band were there. "Jessy!" Jimmy shouted before running over to me. He picked me up and spun me in a circle before placing me back on the ground. "It's nice to see you too Jimmy." I said with a laugh.
"So," Zack interrupted, "your supprise is more stage fright help." He seemed nervous about how I'd react. I nodded slowly, not sure what to think. "So what we're going to do is put you in a recording booth and none of us will be able to hear you. "Okay," I said, starting to feel more comfortable with the plan.
Zack lead me to a small room with a micrphone and a pair of headphones. "So we'll be able to see you," he bagan to explain, "but we won't be able to hear you." Hearing him say that was reassuring. "You're going to be singing warmness on the soul. The music will come through the headphones and the lyrics are on the stand." He said with a encouraging smile. I nodded and he gave me a quick kiss before leaving the room.
I put the headphones on and took my place infront of the mic. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The song was over before I knew it. I stepped out to find Zack right beside the door. He wrapped his arm around my waist and we walked to where the rest of the guys were.
"Matt," Zack said as we neared the guys, "you can explain now." Matt nodded, "the point of that was to prove to you that you're good." I must have looked as confused as I felt because he explained further; " Zack said that you told him you weren't any good. So I think hearing yourself and watching other react to the sound of your voice will help you." I nodded slowly, I was too nervous to do anything else.
Zack sat down and pulled me onto his lap as Matt started to play the recording. I glanced nervously from person to person as my voice rang clearly through the speakers. I saw everyone's eyes widen in shock.
I burried my face in Zack's neck, too embarassed to look at anyone. When it finished I felt myself being pulled off Zack's lap. I turned to see Jimmy standing a few inches away from me. "Do you have any clue how gifted you are?" He whispered gently. My eyes shot to the ground and I started to bite my lip ring.
"Please," he said as he grabbed my chin and tilted my head up, "I want to hear you sing, not just a recording." I relocated my eyes to the ground and shook my head. "I can't." I whispered. I started to feel the familiar pain that came with stress so I tried to force myself to relax but it wasn't working this time.
Next thing I knew Zack was holding my hand. "Please Jess," he whispered gently, "just try. I'll be right here the whole time." I knew I'd never win this fight so I nodded. "Whenever you're ready," Matt said as he sat down.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and started to try to sing. The pain grew stronger as I forced myself to continue. When I couldn't take the pain anymore I completly stopped, grabbed onto my neck where it hurt and clutced Zack's hand to stay on my feet. That must not have been enough because I felt myself start to sway forward and a pair of hands catch me.
"Jessy what's wrong sweety?" Poor Zack sounded terrified. "My neck," I replied through gritted teeth. At that point someone picked me up. I knew it wasn't Zack because he was still holding my hand. They laid me down on the couch.
"Do you need an aspring or something?" I think the voice was Johnny but I couldn't tell. "No," I tried to say sternly but It just caused more pain. I lightened my tone, "I don't like to take pain killers."
"Can you tell me what happened baby?" Zack said as he brushed some lose hairs out of my face. "It happens alot," I managed to say before another wave of pain stopped me. A few seconds later I was able to continue, "I think stress causes it but it's never been this bad before."
"I'm so sorry." Zack whispered as he rested his forehead on mine. "Don't," I whispered. "I wanted to do it." I felt someone starting to rub my neck. I couldn't tell who but I didn't care.
After a few minutes I was able to open my eyes. All five guys were standing around me. Matt, Jimmy and Johnny were all just staring at me. Zack was still holding my hand wich left Brian to be the one rubbing my neck.
Brian leaned closer to me, "any better?" He whispered. "Yeah, thanks." I said, embarassed by the whole situation. "Jessy are you sure you don't want something for the pain?" Zack said sounding worried. "I'm fine baby," I said, "I think I'll live to tell about it." Zack let out a small chuckle, "I'm glad to hear that. Now let's get you home."
