Guitar Hero
Summary
I always loved going over to my neighbor’s house. There was a nice man who was always so kind and considerate. He had a son my age, but he was obnoxious and nothing like his father. The father was the most generous man I knew.
My earliest memory was meeting this man at his house. My family had just moved into a new neighborhood, and my mom wanted to go meet some neighbors. My dad wasn’t too thrilled about this, but we went anyways. My mom always got her way. She was the lady of the house.
After a couple of houses, we finally got to the house that I learned to love. A rather tall man and his son answered the door.
It was funny to me how similar they looked like one another. It seemed like they were just an older and younger versions of one person. It was a little eerie.
The boy just stood there, staring at me like I was an alien or something, and I didn’t pay too much attention to him. The man greeted my parents, and he invited us in. The rest was history.
My parents and the man and his wife got along great and became the best of friends. The boy and I on the other hand didn’t get along at all. We weren’t enemies or anything, but I just didn’t like him all that much.
Now in high school nothing has changed. I was a senior in high school, and I still occasionally wanted to choke the son. His father was still such a kind and understanding man, and I had a secret. I was in love with him.
I yearned for a man who was old enough to be my father. Hell his son was my age. I was only four months older than his son, but I was firm in my feelings for him. He was married, but I knew that once I was old and mature enough for this man he could love me as well.
But that wouldn’t be for a number of years for now. I was still in high school, and I knew he’d never consider me a proper woman just yet.
I forced myself to be what I thought this man would like in a woman. I noticed whenever he had small arguments with his wife, and I mentally took notes on what he responded best to. I even forced myself to hang out with his son just to overhear him talking in the next room.
He was my idea of a perfect man. I was in love with Brian Haner Senior.
