Danger Line (re-write)

The Wedding (Part II)

Gena
I had to admit, the wedding was beautiful and the whole ordeal warmed my heart. But while the other girls, except Erin, were clueless to the initial engagement between the newly-wed couple, I knew the truth about the two of them. Hannah never wanted to be in this business, she’d always wanted to be an actress and get away from the life she was born into, but while everything was fairly normal for her, she did the odd jobs for Avenged and that peaked Matt’s interest in her, one fateful night, his own father revealed his secret to success – his wife – and Matt decided to follow in his footsteps and force the poor girl into marrying him. Sam and Dean Winchester were soon back in town and Hannah realised that she still loved the younger brother after two years without him, and they spent months together… romantically and sexually, but poor little Matthew is oblivious to what went on between those two behind closed doors. Surely, that’s all stopped now that she’s his wife and Baby Winchester ran back to his Daddy.
The whole wedding party were dancing and so were the majority of the guests, but it was almost time for the speeches, and it was time for me to get the blushing bride alone, just for a few seconds.

“Hey!” I called over the music, tapping Hannah’s shoulder and drawing her attention to me from her brother “It’s almost time for the speeches so why don’t we go to the bathroom and get you tidied back up?” She kissed Cooper’s cheek and took my hand so that I could lead her to the toilets through the back, near the back exit.

“How bad do I look?” She asked once we were in better lighting out in the hallway.

“Gorgeous,” I chuckled “But some of your hair is falling down at the back and your makeup could do with a touch up,”

“Thanks, Gena.” She breathed with a smile “You’re the best,”

It was obvious she had been drinking quite a bit and was well on her way through Tipsy Town which was good; maybe she wouldn’t notice anything weird about what was going on.

Once we were in the bathroom, I started working on her hair while she looked at herself in the mirror. I used extra pins to fix her stray curls and put them back into place. Once I was finished with her hair I turned her around to face me and leaned her back against the counter so that I
could take the makeup out of my clutch and started touching her face back up with makeup where some of her makeup had rubbed off, been kissed off or sweated off.

“All done,” I smiled, dropping the lipstick back into my clutch.

“Thanks,” She smiled “You wouldn’t happen to have any perfume in their would you?”

Perfect.

“Sure,”

I pulled out my little bottle, popped the lid off of it and sprayed a generous amount onto my own wrist before holding it up to her nose.

“Hm,” She hummed “What is that?” She held my wrist closer to her face and took a deep breath before she started to blink rapidly and frown at me. She pulled away and looked utterly confused
“What the…”

“Chloroform,” I smirked, holding my wrist under her nose once more as she inhaled, and that
was all it took for her to drop to the tile floor with a thud.

Quickly, I managed to get her off of the floor and propped against me and practically dragged her unconscious body out of the toilets, down the corridor to the back exit and kicked the door
open.

Luckily for me, nobody was hanging around outside to see me move the ‘sleeping’ bride from the back steps to my car. I popped the trunk and lifted her into the trunk, tucked the train of her
dress inside with her and slammed the lid closed.

Delivery time.

It was time for the speeches, but Hannah was nowhere to be found and we weren’t going to start without her. I could tell that the guests were getting impatient, but while the guys sat from one end of the table to me in the middle, Hannah’s seat beside me was empty, and then the girls filled the other end of the table, but one other seat was empty, Gena’s.

“Zack,” I whispered harshly, getting his attention “Call Gena, see where she is, if you don’t get her on her cell, you find me everything on her that you can… something doesn’t fell right about this,”

With a firm nod, Zack took off out of the room, tugging his cell phone from his pocket in a hurry, almost dropping it while tripping over his own two feet.

“What’s going on?” Erin asked me, leaning across Hannah’s empty seat “Where’s he going?”

“I can’t find Hannah anywhere, she isn’t answering her cell and Gena’s missing too, I have a feeling that whatever is going on Gena has something to do with it so I sent him out to call her,”

“Did you check the bathroom?” She asked me “She could be in there having a nervous breakdown over the fact that she’s a married woman now,” She chuckled, making me smile a little.

“Go check?” I asked her “I can’t just barge into the ladies room, if they’re in there then you bring them back here, if not, you see if you can find anything that might tell us where they went,”

She nodded at me too and took off without another word. I spent the next five minutes trying to keep the guests entertained, making jokes with Brian, Jimmy and Johnny. I could see the other girls watching me with worried expressions, but I tried my hardest to ignore them. Soon though,
Erin came rushing back up to the table and leaned in to my ear.

“They’re gone,” She whispered.

“How do you know?” I asked.

“I found this on the bathroom floor,” She pulled away from me and handed me the white flower from Hannah’s hair.

I took the delicate flower between my fingers and looked at it, tears threatened to fill my eyes but
I kept them at bay. I looked out into the sea of guests sitting around their tables until my eyes landed on James and Cooper who were sat at one table with the rest of Metallica. They were both giving me questioning looks and all I could do was look back to the small flower in my fingers, shake my head and drop it to the ground.

Hannah
The muffled sound of music filled my ears as my eyes fluttered open and I started to wake up.

I looked around me and slowly I started to realise that I was somewhere cramped, I was inside something. I stretched my arms up but they didn’t get very high before my hands came in contact with the top of something.

“Oh my God,” I whimpered, pushing upward “No, no, no!”

Then it hit me.

The music – I Touch Myself by Divinyls - the red glow that was my only form of light, the slight movement… I was in a car; I was in the trunk of a car.

I started kicking and pounding on the lid of the trunk, praying that if I hit it hard enough it would magically open. The grunts that slipped from my mouth as I used all the strength I could muster were just bouncing around the confined space and meeting my own ears. It was pointless, I was trapped and I didn’t know how to get myself out of this, I hadn’t been taught by Matt or Dad about what to do in this situation. I was weaker than normal, I had been drugged and my body was still trying to wake up.

Suddenly, a ringing sound met my ears, and it was coming from inside the trunk. I looked around and quickly spotted my phone by my hip. Whoever tossed me in here obviously hadn’t noticed my cell phone slip out of my bra. I reached down, grabbed the phone and answered it without checking the caller ID.

“I’m in the trunk!” I cried into the phone as I answered it “I don’t wanna die, you have to help me, I’m in the freaking trunk!”

“Hannah,” It was Matt “Hannah, baby, I need you to listen to me,” He spoke calmly “In order for us to help you, you have to help me, okay?”

“Okay,”

“Good, now, look around the trunk and see if you can find a release lever,” He said “Usually it
glows in the dark, do you see it?”

I did as he told me and looked around, but I couldn’t see anything.

“No,” I cried “It doesn’t even have one of those,”

“Okay, okay,” He said “That’s alright, Hannah, do you remember who took you, or anything that
happened?”

“Gena,” I sobbed, covering my mouth slightly with my free hand “Gena took me to the bathroom
to freshen me up and she-she d-drugged me with ch-chloroform and I- I don’t remember anything after that,”

“It was Gena?” He asked.

“Yes,” I sniffed “Why would she do this to me?”

“Someone get me a trace on Gena’s phone!” He called out, away from the phone “Don’t worry baby, take a deep breath, we’re going to get you out of this,” I took a deep, shaky breath, attempting to calm myself “Can you tell me if you’re on the freeway or surface streets?”

The music from inside the car started getting louder and louder.

“No!” I cried as it got harder to head “No, no, no,”

“Hannah,” Matt spoke again “Hannah I need you to stay calm and focus, alright? It’s the only way you’re going to get out of this,” I let out a strangled sob “Can you tell me if the wheels are going fast or slow?”

“We might be on the freeway,” I choked.

“Good girl,” I could hear his fingers hitting the keys of his keyboard. He must be in his office.

I could hear one of the guys, it sounded like Brian, telling Matt something, and it can’t have been good news because he swore under his breath.

“Hannah’s on a freeway,” He told him “Direction unknown,”

“Matt?” I asked.

“Yeah baby?”

“You promise you’re going to get me out of this alive?”

“I promise,” He breathed “I promise you that you’re going to be alright, I promise that.”

“I love you,” I told him.

“I love you, too.” I could hear the smile in his voice “okay, sweetheart, does the trunk smell like
it’s a new one or an old one?”

“It kind of smells old,” I told him, my throat clamping around my words again as I looked around
“Yeah, there are paint cans and old work stuff,”

“Good, can you see the tail lights?” He asked.

“What?” I asked.

“In older cars there might be access to the tail lights from inside the trunk, look for the red glow,”

“I see it,” I told him “I’ve got it,”

“Alright, is there any way you can kick that light out?” He asked “Break it out, is there any way you can do that?”

“No, no, they’re going to hear me,”

“We gotta try,” He told me “It doesn’t matter if they hear you, we gotta try,”

“I can try,” I sniffed “Hold on,”

I tried with my hand first to push on it, and then my foot, but nothing was happening.

“How you doing, sweetheart?” He asked.

“It’s not coming out,” I grunted.

“Try the other one,”

I pushed and tore at it, until some little cover finally came off of it. I tossed it to the side and reached my hand out for something that I might be able to use to knock it out, and grabbed hold of the first handle I felt. It was a paint roller. Perfect. I used the handle and whacked the tail light a few times and felt it loosen with every hit, so I gave it one last big smack and it popped out, filling the trunk with

“I did it,” I spoke into the phone again “I got it out,”

“You did it,” He breathed a sigh of relief “Good girl, well done, now look out the hole and tell me what you see,”

“Freeway,” I told him “We’re definitely on the freeway but it’s late, there aren’t loads of other cars,”

“Here’s what I need you to do,” His voice was so calm, it calmed me a little “I need you to stick your arm through that hole as much as you can and wave, wave like crazy so that someone might see you,”

“Matt, there’s no one out here to see me,” I told him.

“That doesn’t matter,” He told me “If someone comes up behind the car at some point, we need them to be able to see you, they will call the cops and we’ll hear it over the police scanner,” I heard the slamming of a door through the phone “Your Dad, Cooper, Jimmy and Zack are leaving now, they’re getting on the freeway, can you tell me what direction you might be going in?”

“Out of Huntington,” I told him “So, North, maybe, I don’t know,”

“That’s good,” He told me “Now, stick your arm through that hole and wave like crazy, someone will see you,”

I did as he said and squeezed my arm through the hole and started to wave.

Matt
This was happening. This was really happening and I couldn’t believe it.

I had to stay calm on the phone to Hannah, if my voice was calm she was more likely to listen to me and follow instructions clearly, but while she might think I’m completely calm and confident, my heart is pounding so loudly I can hear it in my ears, my palms are sweating and my whole body is shaking as adrenaline rushes through me. I promised her I would get her out of there, but I don’t know how this is going to play out exactly, I don’t know that she is going to be okay and that’s what scares me the most about this.

James, Cooper, Jimmy and Zack have all left to get onto the highway and try to find her, so that leaves me, Erin, Johnny, Brian, Kirk, Lars and Rob to try and trace phones, look through CCTV footage from the wedding venue and listen to the police scanner while I talk to Hannah.

Hannah was still waving her hand out of the hole she had made, but nothing was coming through the scanner about her just yet.

“It’s not working,” She cried through the phone “I’m not waving anymore,”

“Hannah, you have to keep waving,” I told her.

“Hold on,” She said, and I heard her shifting around slightly “There’s a car coming up behind us,”
She told me “It isn’t the guys, but it’s someone,”

“Wave again,” I told her “They’ll call it in,”

Not five minutes later did it come through the police scanner that a woman in her car had spotted an arm waving through the tail light hole in the back of a car; they gave a description of the car and the licence plate number. I signalled to Erin to get that message to everyone who had left to look for the car and she nodded, getting right on it.

Caller approached the car, female driver, late twenties, blonde, driver spotted the caller and has
turned off the freeway at…’

“Shit,” I cursed under my breath.

“Matt, we’re turning off of the freeway,” She whimpered “What do I do now?”

“Look back through the hole and tell me what you see,” I ordered “Do you see any street signs, landmarks, anything?”

“No, I don’t see anything; it all looks the same,” She started to cry again and I could feel my heart breaking a little bit more.

“Gena’s driving the car, okay? She can’t do much damage to you, alright? Baby, you told me there was stuff in the trunk, you said there was work, right? Look around and tell me what else you see, there has to be something in there that will help us, what do you see?”

“Some bleach,” She answered “Uh, paint, some brushes, a screwdriver and-“ She stopped talking immediately and I heard her gasp loudly.

“What else?” I asked “Hannah, what else is in the trunk?”

“Oh my God, NO!” She cried “no, no, oh God, no, no, please, no,”

“Hannah what is it?” I asked “What do you see?”

“She’s going to bury me,” She sobbed “There’s a shovel, she’s going to bury me,”

“No baby, no, no, no, she’s not going to bury you,”

She was crying and trying to tell me something but her crying made her sentences incoherent
and I couldn’t make out a word that she was saying.

“Baby, Hannah, sweetheart, what’s your favourite movie?” I asked “What’s your favourite movie?”

“What?” She croaked.

“What’s your favourite movie?” I asked “Just tell me what it is because I don’t even know your favourite movie,”

“Some Like It Hot,” She answered after a moment.

“I love that movie!” I chuckled, trying to make her believe that I was still completely fine “I’ll tell you what, when we get you home, why don’t we order Chinese food and watch that movie?”

“Okay,” She sobbed.

“Okay,” I smiled “Now, what I need you to do is take one of those paint cans and open it, okay?”

I listened to her rummaging around a little and then grunt as the lid popped off

“Now,” I started “I need you to pour the paint out of that hole, it’ll leave a trail for the guys to see, and any cops that are coming for you, alright?”

“Alright,”

Erin told me that she had filled the guys in on the change in Hannah’s direction.

“It’s running out,” She told me.

“Open the other one and keep on pouring,” I ordered “Use up all of the paint,”

I’ve done a lot of work for these guys in the past, but never before has it been this huge, I had
never drugged a woman and put her in my trunk before. They were so going to owe me for this one.

This was new, and it was weird and at first I was worried about being caught by the cops or something but then I realised that there was no way anyone was ever going to find out that
Hannah was in the trunk, she sniffed enough chloroform to make her sleep for the next two days and I highly doubted I was going to be stopped for a random check.

I’d decided to get off of the freeway and take a detour; I didn’t like the look a woman was giving me earlier on from her car as she passed me. While I drove, I texted one of the guys telling them that I was going to be a little later than I had told them before.

I pulled up to a stop light and a car pulled up beside me. I glanced over to see an older gentleman in his car, window rolled down, looking at me and trying to tell me something. I rolled down my window and looked at him while turning down the music.

“Sorry, what?” I asked.

“I said you’ve got paint or something leaking out of tour trunk,” He told me “Looks like something
spilled back there or something,”

I looked in one of the side mirrors and saw a thick line of paint down the bumper of the car, coming from a hole where the left tail light had once been.

“Fuck,” I cursed under my breath “Thanks!” I waved to the guy before rolling up the window and speeding off the second the light turned green.

I drove along the road until I spotted an empty parking lot that I could pull into. I grabbed the knife from the glove compartment and jumped out of the car and walking around to the trunk.

I popped it open and looked down at her and smirked.

“You stupid bitch,” I smirked at her, shaking my head “I was told to hand you over undamaged, but I guess that won’t be happening now, will it?”

I’d picked Beth up from Hannah and Matt’s wedding about three hours ago and now she was fast asleep on the couch in front of the TV that was still playing Monsters Inc. She had been too excited to sleep when I brought her to the house, so I told her that she could forget bedtime for just one night and she could stay awake with me. That just made her even more excited.

As my daughter slept beside me, I continued to watch the movie, laughing here and there, but I jumped into action immediately when the front door opened and closed. I crept out of the living room and into the hall to see Erin lifting Beth’s shoes and coat.

“What the hell are you doing?” I asked.

“I’m taking Beth home with me,” She answered quickly.

I couldn’t help but notice that she looked a little freaked, a little wound up and skittish.

“What happened?” I asked, stepping closer to her “Did Zack do something to you, did he hit you?”

“For the love of – no,” She laughed “He didn’t hit me, he didn’t do anything to me, shit is happening and I just want to be with my daughter, alright? I want to take her home with me so that I can keep working on finding Hannah but I also want to know that she’s safe,”

“She’s with me,” I reminded her “Of course she’s safe, but she won’t be if you take her back to that house, if you take her back to him,” then I realised what she had said “Hannah’s missing?”

“Gena took her,” She told me “We’re all working on getting her back so I really need to hurry, could you get Beth for me?”

“She’s in there,” I told her, pointing behind me to the living room.

She stepped past me and into the living room, and after a second I followed her. She was slipping Beth into her shoes and coat without fully waking her, but she was starting to stir.

“Just stay here,” I almost begged “The two of you can stay here for the night and I’ll protect both of you,”

“I can’t,” She whined a little “I have to find Hannah,”

“You’re not going to be of any help to anyone in this state,” I told her “You need to rest, you need to calm down,”

“Stop telling me what I need to do,” She snapped, her voice barely a whisper as she lifted Beth into her arms and cradled her against her chest “You don’t get to do that,”

“And Zack does?” I asked “Is he the reason you’re rushing back home? You don’t want him to suspect anything is going on between us so you’re trying to run away from me,”

“I’m not running away from you,” She groaned “I’m just going home.”

“I won’t let you take her,” I told her matter of factly “She’s my daughter too and tonight is my
night with her, if you take her from me tonight I will take you to court and fight against you for custody of her,”

“You’d never win that,” she informed me as she walked out into the hall and headed for the front door.

“No,” I chuckled “You would never win that, a single father sounds so much better than a gang house,”

She didn’t say anything; she ignored me and walked out the front door, down the porch steps and into the front yard.

A car was driving down the street, and it slowed, which caught my attention.

Erin was too busy power walking to the end of the path that she hadn’t noticed, but I watched as the window rolled down, a guy leaned out and pointed a gun directly at Erin and Beth.

“NO!” I yelled, reaching towards them as the sound of the gun firing rang through my ears.

Not only was it a great movie with amazing acting, it was very informative! God forbid something like that would happen to someone, but if it happened, i'd know how to alert someone that I was in the trunk! (:
