Not a bad thing

Brian’s POV
Lynn and I were late, yes, we were very late, but I couldn’t feel sorry about it for one single minute. I smiled, thinking about our little shower escapade this morning. She was really something. We walked on to the beach and saw the whole gang sitting there. I looked at my friends having fun, I looked to my side and saw the most amazing woman smiling back at me, I was a happy man.

We made our way over to our friends. I saw Lizzy and Iz in the water and heard Arin yell at me “It would be about time! Don’t you own a watch?!” I chuckled and let myself fall down next to Matt. “I can’t help that you are all eager to get out of bed in the morning, but I’m not. Most certainly not with this one lying next to me. I stroked Lynn’s cheek. If you would have such an amazing sex life as I have you would be late too.” Lynn shoved my shoulder “If you are going to brag, I will go for a swim, I don’t need to hear that”. She took off her clothes and walked towards the water.

Nessa and Elise went back to Izzie’s house to get some more drinks and use the bathroom, so it was just us guys hanging out. “Did you all have a nice night yesterday?” I asked, looking around. “Yeah, Nessa and I went partying for a while. We found this really nice bar. Nessa took a bet with the bartender and won us a whole bunch of shots. Yeah, you could say it was a good night” Johnny chuckled. “My head still hurts. That tiny girl can hold her liquor, damn!” We talked for a while. Lynn came back and lay down in the sun, her eyes closed. I could look at that body at all times. “I’m going for a swim” Matt said as he got up and ran for the water. “You guys should try the water, it’s really nice” Lizzy said as she let herself fall down on her towel next to Lynn.

I looked over to the water to see Matt swim closer to Izzie. I got up. What the hell were they doing? I saw Matt close up to Izzie, staring in her eyes, kissing her.... He fucking kissed her! “SHADZ! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!” I walked over to the water, suddenly coming to a halt when I felt a hand pulling me back. Lynn. “Let them be Brian, they are happy” I turned towards her “You fucking knew about this?! And you kept it a secret?! What the hell?!” I started to walk away from Lynn, I felt anger boil up in me. Before I was well and truely off, I heard Izzie yell at me “Brian Elwin Haner Jr. stop right there!” She and Matt had gotten out of the water. I stormed towards Matt, determined to punch his face, but Izzie stepped in front of him. She looked at me, furious. We were caught in an angry stare contest. “Apologize to Lynn. You don’t have the right to be mad at her, I asked her to keep it from you and I have the oldest rights, I’ve known her the longest. Go on, apologize, then we will talk” She couldn’t tell me what to do! “Brian...., you better do as I tell you, now. I will walk out and never talk to you again. You know I can do it” I heard Matt let out a little chuckle and I shot him an angry look.

Lynn stood behind me, her hands on her hips, waiting for me to say something. How did I get caught up in these angry women? I never had any problems and now I had two, or even three if you counted Lizzy, on my hands. Izzie was right, she was her best friend, maybe she did have a point “Baby, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have overreacted, I get it.” I gave her a small kiss, which she accepted. Okay, I put that fire out. I turned towards Matt and Izzie again. Matt had gotten a towel for Iz and she wrapped it around herself. Those two where a whole different thing. I looked at Matt “Care to fucking tell me what is going on?” Matt put his arm around Izzie “Brian, meet my girlfriend” I let my jaw drop “Your what!? I told you to stay away from her! You don’t do relationships. You can’t pretend that she is your girlfriend, just because you want to fuck her. She is one of my best friends Matt!!” I felt my face heat up. I was pissed. Matt didn’t do relationships since the whole Tess debacle and he couldn’t do this with Izzie.” I groaned, frustrated “Why can’t anyone just listen to me? And do as I tell them!”

“Okay, that’s enough!” Izzie stood in front of me “First, that reaction right there is exactly why we didn’t want to tell you at first. You being a baby about this! Second, Who the fuck do you think you are, telling us all what to do? You are not our father, Brian, You are most certainly not the boss of us. You made plenty of stupid decisions yourself and now you are telling us what we can and can’t do!? Who made you king of everything?!” Uh oh, Izzie was a very kind hearted person normally, one you didn’t get angry easily, but somehow I managed to get her blood boiling. “To top that arrogant attitude of yours, how stupid do you think I am? I don’t fucking do any one night stands. You know me better than that, I’m not made for one night stands. Don’t you think I am smart enough to figure out my own love life?” I opened my mouth to point out her track record. She shot me an angry look “No! Don’t! It’s not your turn to talk. I KNOW my choices in men aren’t always good. Or well, mostly not good. But I’m still open for men in my life, I’m still optimistic that one day everything will work out. And I think I found that with Matt. You should be happy, he is your friend, right?! You should be happy for us” I looked at her, amazed by her speech. “Is it my turn to speak now?” She stared me down “Only if you are going to say something nice. If you decide to be an ass, I don’t want to hear it”

When did she become this feisty woman? I looked at her and her ready to fight posture. I wasn’t happy with this, I mean, sure, she could make her own decisions, but she didn’t know Matt like I did. And well, him getting one girl after another, breaking hearts where ever he went is really funny, as long as it’s not with someone I care about. The fact that Izzie held such a thunder speech said enough about her feelings, but I wasn’t too sure about his “I’m happy for you?” I hesitated. “Wow Brian, did it hurt badly to get that out of your throat?” Izzie looked at me, still angry. “I want to be happy for you guys, but I know Matt. And he doesn’t really have the best track record.” “I’m right here you know” Matt said. I looked at him “You know that if you hurt her, I will have to cut your balls off right?!” Matt did a step forward and stood in front of Izzie. “I won’t. I love her” I heard Izzie gasp “You love me?!” Matt turned around to face her and cupped her face, looking her in her eyes “Yes, I love you.” Izzie was in awe “I love you too!” She put her arms around his neck and Matt pulled her closer, lifted her off the ground and kissed her softly. Okay, maybe I should adjust my opinions. I haven’t seen him like this in a long time. Maybe this was going to work out after all.

I walked away from them, leaving them to it. “What else happened last night? Hell froze over? Pigs fly? Zacky got a girlfriend?” I muttered while walking back to the rest of them. Zacky’s head turned bright pink. “What?! Oh come onnnnn! Since when am I out of the loop for everything?!” I saw Lizzy sit between Zackys legs, leaning in to his body. Zacky had one hand on her thigh and she had her own hand on his “Since you decided to be an ass about the choices we make” Lizzy said. “I... what... uh….. you two?!” Zacky blushed as Lizzy leaned backwards to steal a kiss. “Fucking hell, great friends you all are” I grumbled. “If you just got your head out of your ass and act as a friend instead of a boss, everything would have been okay” Matt said, while he and Izzie came walking back. I looked around my group of friends, everyone was laughing and looked happy. They might be right, I have been an ass, but I was just worried my friends would get hurt, that’s a good thing right?! Lynn leaned in and kissed me. “I know you worry about them, I do too, but we need to let go and let them at least try to be happy” she said softly. I was going to try and do that, but I was most certainly not going to admit out loud that I have been an ass.

“Do you guys want to eat at the beach?” Arin asked. “We could do a barbeque? We only need to get some food and get the barbeque out”. Izzie got up “That’s a great idea. Let me get back to the house for a bit and see what I’ve got” Matt wanted to get up to “Need some help baby?” She kissed him and pushed him back to sit again “No, let me be for a bit, if I need your help I will call you”.

After 15 minutes or so, Izzie still wasn’t back and I looked over to her house. I noticed a unfamiliar car standing next to mine. It hadn’t been there before. It looked flashy. I decided to take a look if I could help Izzie and see if I could find out who the car belonged to. I walked for the house and as I got close I heard Izzie scream. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE? HOW THE FUCK DID YOU FIND ME? IT HAS BEEN YEARS, WHAT MADE YOU THINK I WANTED TO SEE YOU!?” A voice I couldn’t make out replied, and then Izzie again. “SEE IF I CARE! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!” That seemed a good a cue as any to walk in and see what is going on. “Izzie, is everything okay?” I said as I walked in. There was a man in her house, his back turned towards me. He had a suit on and his hair was filled with hair products, his shoes looked expensive. Izzie looked at me scared, but mostly frustrated. “Brian, go back to the others, I can handle this,.... please”. I didn’t understand why she wanted me out, but I sure wasn’t leaving her here. Then the man slowly turned around with a smug look on his face and all the pieces fell into place “Hello Brian, you are still around, picking up my leftovers, I see”
