Alpha and Omega

Matt waits in the waiting room to hear any results about Brian. It’s been 8 hours and Brian has been in the operating room all this time. Matt thought he was going to go crazy as time continue to tick by. Johnny was on the couch sleeping, Zacky is in the cafeteria along with Jimmy getting something to eat although it wasn’t much since they weren’t very hungry from the situation.

It has been 10 hours now and there have been no results. Matt wipes his face with his hand as sweat drips from his forehead. The ticking of the clock seem to have such a booming sound as more time goes by. Matt decides to walk around the hospital to help time go by. Matt walks through the lobby and he passed three different waiting rooms before going up the stairs to the next floor. His heart grew heavier and heavier with each couple he saw. By the time Matt got done walking through the entire hospital he then walks around the hospital outside. The landscape was beautiful but Matt still had thoughts of Brian racing through his mine. He walks back in the hospital to find that there are still no results. He sat back down in the waiting room back in the same spot: the chair beside the couch with Johnny laying on it.
“Nothing, huh?” Johnny asks.
“No,” Matt answers, sadness dripping from his words, “I thought you were asleep.”
“My eyes may be closed,” said Johnny, “but I can’t sleep through this.”

Matt wipes his face with his hand. He remembers when he was attacked. His wasn't so bad. Val missed any vital spots and the blade wasn’t as deep as it was in Brian. Brian was more in his stomach whereas Matt’s was more by the hip.
As the sun begins to set, Matt begins to think he should have taken the blade. Matt knew that Brian took the knife for the same reason he took the knife for Brian. They would do anything to protect each other... even if it meant death.

Matt knew this is how Brian felt when he himself was in the hospital and just wanted to go numb because he did NOT want to feel this kind of pain.

As the sky darkens, Matt yawns and a tear slips out of his right eye. Maybe from tiredness, maybe from Brian. No matter how many times Matt yawned, he couldn’t sleep a wink. No one could as they all were spread around the waiting room.

“Mister Sanders?”

All ears perk up as Matt stands up and walks slowly to the doctor. Matt could feel his heartbeat throughout his entire body.
“Is he okay?” Matt asks, his voice on the edge of breaking.
“The knife unfortunately went in quite deep,” said the male doctor, “There was a lot of damage.”
Matt bit his bottom lip to keep it from quivering.
“He’s okay...” said the doctor, “...for now.”
Matt’s eyes widen a little, "For now?”
“There's no easy way to say this,” said the doctor, “Your husband has one week to live.”
