Alpha and Omega

Brian woke up in the middle of night to find himself alone in bed. His tired eyes roamed over the room until he heard Matt’s voice on the other side of the bedroom door. Brian couldn’t make out the words, but he could tell it was Matt. A few more minutes and it was quiet. Then, the door opened and Matt appeared. “Everything okay Mattie?” Brian asked, rubbing sleepy seeds out of his eye. “That was my mom,” said Matt, “My dad got into a skiing accident on their vacation in Minnesota. She wants me to come up there.” Brian rubbed his other eye, “Are you?” “I don’t know,” Matt answered, “She wants me to go for a week or so. Do you think you can handle being without me for that long?” “I went almost three months without you,” said Brian, “I can handle it. How about you?”
Matt sat down on the bed, “I don’t know, but I do wanna make sure my dad is okay.” “Then go,” Brian said as he sat up, “If you don’t, then you’ll just worry yourself silly.” “And if I go then I’ll worry myself silly about you,” said Matt. “Well then I guess you’re screwed,” said Brian. Matt laughed, “I’ll talk to my mom about it in the morning.” Brian yawned, “Good idea.”

Brian walked, hand-in-hand, with Matt through the airport. “Okay,” said Matt, “I’ll see you in ten days.” They pulled apart hands and wrapped them around each other for a hug. Matt went to pull away, but Brian didn’t let go. “Brian baby… I have to go,” said Matt. Brian looked at Matt with puppy dog eyes and a pout to match. Matt cupped Brian’s cheeks in his hands, “Ten days, and then I’ll be back. I promise.” Matt leaned in for a long kiss. After they parted lips, Brian loosened his grip on Matt’s waist. “Okay,” Brian groaned, “But you gotta at least call me when you get there. And be safe… don’t say up too late… don’t do any crazy shit.” “Brian I will,” said Matt, chuckling at Brian for sounding like such a mom. “One more kiss?” Brian asked then in a child tone, “Please?” Matt smiled, “Of course.” They connected for one more good bye kiss before Matt went to the security check. Brian stood there and watched until he couldn’t see any trace of Matt. Brian walked through the airport and back to his vehicle. He shut the car door, placed his hands on the steering wheel, and took a deep breath, “Maybe this’ll be harder than I thought.”

Matt sat in his seat next to the window. It seemed like forever for everyone to get on and settle in. As Matt waited, he pulled out his wallet and opened it. He just stared at the picture he had of him and Brian. It was Brian in the middle of the picture with Matt behind Brian. Matt had his arms wrapped around Brian’s waist and his chin resting on Brian’s shoulder. Matt just stared at the picture. “Well you two look so cute together.” Matt blinked a couple times before looking to see an elderly woman sitting next to him. “Oh, um, thank you,” said Matt. “I know some of us old folks don’t normally care for such a thing,” said the woman, “but I got a grandson who has a boyfriend as well.” Matt didn’t know how to respond, so he just nodded. “You know your fella there looks kinda familiar,” said the woman, “Does he have any famous relatives?” “His father is pretty famous,” said Matt, “His dad is Brian Haner, but most people know him as Guitar Guy.” “Oh yes,” said the woman, “I have seen him with the Jeff Dunham fellow. He’s quite a funny man. I bet your man has a good sense of humor too.” “That he does,” Matt said with a smile. “I bet you miss him,” said the woman. “Yeah,” Matt said, “That I do.” Then, the pilot announced to be prepared for takeoff and then soon the plane was in the air. Matt looked out the window and down at the airport. I miss you a lot Bri Matt thought to himself I miss you a whole fucken lot.

P.P.S. For those who are reading my story Unbound (The Wild Ride), I do plan on updating it but I have writer's block for the story right now. So don't think I stopped writing the story completely.
