Alpha and Omega

Brian was shaking with anxiety as he was lying in his hospital bed. Leana came in after ten minutes. Her arm bandaged. No meds were needed since the cuts were swallow and minor. Michelle had explained how Val told her everything about what she was going to do to Brian. “Why did you stop her?” Zacky asked. “I’m not like Val,” said Michelle, “When Brian had a change of heart, I supported him. That’s why we’re still friends. I want him to be happy. He found Matt and I found someone else. Val has always been a spoiled brat. If she wasn’t stopped… who know what she would of done.” “Well the doctor said you missed her heart by an inch,” said Johnny. “I know,” said Michelle, “I couldn’t kill her. She’s still my sister.” Johnny belly began to rumble. “I second that,” said Zacky, “I think we should go to the cafeteria.” “I’ll stay here,” said Jimmy, “I wanna talk to Brian anyway.”
They all left as Jimmy pulled up a chair next to the bed and sat down. “Brian I’m sorry,” Jimmy said sadly. “I told you Jimmy,” said Brian, “You don’t need to be sorry. You did what you did to protect Leana. You didn’t think I would get hurt. I can understand that.” Jimmy looked at Brian’s eyes, “But Bri-” “Jimmy,” said Brian, “I’m not gonna let some troll get between us. You’re my brother Jimmy.” A crooked smile appeared on Jimmy’s face. “So,” said Jimmy, “You gonna go your hair back out?” “I don’t know,” said Brian, “I’ll see what Matt thinks… maybe.” “He’s gonna be fine,” said Jimmy, “Have you ever seen Matt back down from a fight?” Brian chuckled lightly, “No… but they said the wound was deep and it was close to a vital spot.” “Have faith,” said Jimmy, “Negative thoughts won’t help him.”
Knock, knock, knock. They looked to see the doctor. “Matthew Sanders has survived the surgery. He’s comatose. We’re gonna put him in here. He’ll have to stay here until he wakes up.” “Okay thank you,” said Jimmy. As the doctor left, Jimmy looked at Brian. “See? He’s fine,” said Jimmy. Brian watched as nurses pushed Matt in his bed into the room. They began setting up the heart monitor and other machines. Brian reached out his hand, he was close enough for him to reach Matt’s hand and hold it. “I’m going to the cafeteria,” said Jimmy, “Let you have a moment.” “Thanks,” said Brian. Jimmy left and so did the nurses.
Brian rubbed his thumb over the back of Matt’s hand. Brian looked at Matt’s face. It seemed so calm… so peaceful. Then Brian looked at the heart monitor, going up and down at a steady and healthy rhythm. He looked back at Matt’s face. “Not gonna let her get between me and Jimmy,” Brian said softly, “Not gonna let her get between us either.”

Brian and Matt were still recovering so the others testified at Val’s trial. Zacky went to the hospital to tell Brian the news.
“She was found guilty,” said Zacky, “She would have just gone for life, but she had a huge tantrum. Saying how she would do it again and stuff. So now she’s sentence to death row.” Brian smiled slightly. He looked over at his sleeping lover… he never let go of Matt’s hand. Only for the bathroom and physical therapy but then latch his hand onto Matt’s the second he was in bed.
“How long before he wakes up?” Zacky asked, “I mean it’s been two weeks.” “I don’t know,” Brian answered, “The doctors aren’t sure when he’ll wake up.” “You’ll soon be released,” said Zacky. “Doesn’t mean I’m leaving,” said Brian. “What about Pinkly?” asked Zacky, “I know Jimmy watches her, but she probably misses you.” Brian let out a deep breath, “Yeah… but I don’t wanna leave Matt… I mean… I just can’t… after he risked his life for me… it’s the least I can do…” “Well I won’t argue with you, but I gotta get back home to take care of my own dogs,” said Zacky, “but I’ll be here when you get released. Get you some clean clothes and something to eat… you must be tired of their food.” Brian chuckled, “Thanks. See ya.”
