Daddy's Little Girl

I woke up just as we were pulling into the mile long driveway to the cabin. Dad looked at me in the rear view mirror and smiled as I raised up and stretched my tight muscles, making my back pop several times. I had been laying down in the back seat, shoes off and covered up with Dad's hoodie. I could have easily used my hoodie to cover up, but I wanted Dad's simply because it smelled like him.

"You sleep good, sweetie?" He asked as I climbed back into the front seat.

"Mhm." I yawned.

"Good, we'll be there in just a second."

"K." I muttered, laying my head on the cool glass of the passengers side window.

Not more than a minute later we arrived at our destination. I hopped out and went to get my bags before Dad stopped me, handed me the keys, and told me to go unlock the place, and to turn on the heat. He turned around to make sure no one was looking before bending down and pecking me on the lips. I wrapped my arms around his torso, and buried my face in his chest, trying my best to suppress a yawn. He hugged me up, and kissed my forehead, commenting on how cold I was.

We released each other, and I made my way up the stone walkway, and onto the enclosed porch of the cabin, unlocked the door, and then unlocked the main door. Flipping each light on as I passed through, I made my way to the thermostat, which is in the living room, so I could turn on "Central Heating." I then went and lit all of the electric 'fireplaces,' which are actually heaters built into the wall that look like real fireplaces, and turned all of them on. There is one in every bedroom, the living room, den, and the basement lounge.

By the time I was finished, everyone was bringing in the last of their luggage. Dad handed me the sleeping arrangements, and told me I was in charge of telling everyone where their rooms were. This excited me, because that gave me the opportunity to pick which room I wanted.

The basement is absolutely huge, and most of the cabin's bedrooms are down there. There is one stair case in the whole place. To get to the main staircase, there are about 4 steps to get on the larger stair case, which goes both left and right. Left takes you upstairs, right takes you down. The staircase that goes up makes a turn to the right halfway up the stairs, at the platform. And the stairs that go down turn right, behind the wall. That is if you are looking from the person on the steps point of view. If you were looking from above the bottom would turn to the left, the top would turn to the right, kind of like a backwards 'Z.' I don't know how to explain it, really. The upper half of the staircase turns right, and the bottom turns left. the platform that allows you to get to the main staircase is near the bottom of the stairs. Buuuuut anywaaays..

The basement is huge, it's the biggest floor in the house, and has several bedrooms, along with a lounge, bathroom, game room and 'mini kitchen.' Which consists of a microwave, mini-fridge, toaster, coffee pot, can opener and several cabinets. The cabinets are stocked with enough food to last us a long time. It also saves everyone from having to walk upstairs in the middle of the night to get a snack or whatever.

The lounge is set up like a movie theater. We have a projector system and several recliners. The floor is slanted towards the screen, and the walkway lights up. All of our games systems are hooked up, along with the DVD player and satellite. Each system is on a different channel, that way we don't have to hook stuff up every time we want to do something different. All of the systems are mounted to the ceiling in a metal frame behind the frame holding the projector, and we have everything connected to an extension cord that is attached to the ceiling and runs down the wall. It's all plugged into a cord that has an on/off switch, it's much simpler that way.

"Alright guys, everyone grab their buddies and line up." Everyone did as told and stood in front of me holding their bags.

"There are 10 bedrooms downstairs, 4 of which are more for a kid. Only 2 of those 4 have 2 beds in them. Come on, I'll just show everyone where their rooms will be, it'd be easier than trying to explain it." I said, and then led the way to the basement.

"Mckenna and Gianna, you guys can have the "girlier" room. It's the one with the purple door." They nodded and headed in the direction of the room.

"Suzy and Brian, you guys can have the room with the brown door, Zack and Gena you can have the door across from Gianna's, and Gavin and Braydyn can have the room beside you. That way you're close to both Gianna and Gavin." Everyone said something along the lines of 'thank you' or 'okay' and headed in the direction of their rooms. "Brian and Jimmy you guys can have the room with the black door, of course, and Johnny and Lacy, you can have the room with the white door. And finally Mammaw and Pappaw you two can have the room with the cream colored door."

Brian Sr. and Suzy, along with Mammaw and Pappaw, had gotten here not long after we had, and I hadn't even known until I had turned all of the heaters and stuff on.

I walked back upstairs and didn't see our luggage or Dad anywhere, so I assumed he was in the master bedroom, which was located upstairs, might I add, the only occupied bedroom upstairs at the moment. I made my way up the steps and and to our room at the end of the hallway. Quietly opening the door, I stepped in and shut the door behind me.
