You Think You've Got It, Don'tcha?

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Everything got really awkward between Matt, Zack, and I really quickly. I wasn't sure what was going on, and I knew someone's hiding something from me. I laid back, letting my head fall back onto the couch cushion for a moment and I closed my eyes. I had been sleep deprived the last few days, and tour started in a few days. And on top of that, Michelle hadn't quit bugging me about Valary at all, how she was so worried that Val wasn't doing well because of Matt and so on and so forth. It was all becoming quite annoying. But I just kept my mouth shut, and tried to make Michelle feel better by telling her that Val would be fine, and it would be okay. I hadn't really gotten a decent nights' sleep, and something told me that today would be my only day of rest, until I got a text from Zack.

"She's got her interview with the college today." the text read. That surprised me. I didn't think that her grades would let her slide into a college like that, although her grades weren't exactly bad. I smiled a little, and replied back.

"Cool beans, man. Tell her I said good luck."

I closed my eyes again, hoping to drift back to sleep before Zack could text me back. Instead of trying to fall asleep sitting up, and risk having neck aches, I got up and walked to my bedroom, and plopped back onto the bed. I had important things to do, like talking to Schecter about ordering a few new guitars for tour. But it was too late for that. Plus I think Zack already took care of it. I wasn't too sure. Though it wouldn't hurt for me to check, I didn't. I closed my eyes again and covered up, trying to relax a bit. I had finally gotten nice and comfortable when Matt burst through my door, screaming and hollering, "RISE AND SHINE, SUNSHINE!"

I groaned and turned over, pulling the blankets over my head. "Get out, Sanders." I mumbled. He jumped onto the bed, jumping up and down and I rose my leg up, kicking him in the shin, which caused him to collapse onto the floor.

"What was that for?" He asked.

"Get out, I'm trying to sleep." I said. "I haven't gotten any fucking sleep because of your ex and her sister.”

“What are they doing now?” He asked, rolling his eyes.

“Guilt tripping.” I stated. I sat up, running my fingers through my hair. Matt sat up, straightening out his clothes. “What do you want? I’m trying, like I said, to get some sleep.”

“I was gonna see if you wanted to chill today. Since we haven’t gotten to since you’ve been here. Like walk to the beach and check out some chicks or something.”

“Check out chicks? Did you forget I had a girlfriend, or?” I asked. “Now get out so I can get dressed. I’m not staying out too long. We can pick up Michelle and go to the beach.” I said, picking my pillow up and throwing it at him. He held up his hands and walked out and downstairs.

I got up, finding myself walking over to the mini fridge that I had in my room. I bent down and opened it, pulling out a bottle of Heineken and I opened it, taking a quick drink before I sat it down to look for clothes. “It’s gonna be hot out today..” I said to myself. “Do I wear black pants and a black shirt? Or black pants and no shirt?” I stood there, going over this problem in my head. Finally, I decided to go with shorts and no shirt, but bringing a shirt incase I got a sun burn or something. After I had gotten dressed and tossed on my beanie, I slipped on my shoes and I walked downstairs.

“Ready?” Matt asked as he looked up at me from the couch. I nodded.

“Let’s just get this over with. I want some sleep.” I mumbled. Matt nodded and got up, and we headed out the door. After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at Michelle and Val’s house. I walked up to the house, and knocked on the door. About a minute later, Michelle’s dad walked to the door.

“And who are you, young man?” He asked. I looked up at him.

“I-I’m Brian, Michelle’s boyfriend and Val’s friend.” I stuttered. He chuckled light-heartedly, nodding slowly.

“Ah, you’re Brian.” He repeated. I nodded.

“Yeah, I’m Brian. Can Michelle hang out or is she studying?” I asked. He shrugged lazily, and turned around.

“Michelle!” He yelled, “Your boyfriend’s here to see you!”

I stood there awkwardly, chewing on my lip until she came to the door. Michelle had that nice smile on her face, and that made me smile. “Do you wanna hang at the beach with Brian and I today?” I asked. She looked past my shoulders over to Matt, who had been kicking around gravel in the driveway. She shot him a glance, and then looked back at me.

“Yeah, sure. I can hang today. What are we doing?” She asked.

“Just chilling at the beach, and helping Matt grab a girlfriend or something.” I shrugged. “I don’t know about him. But I know that I’ll be taking you out tonight after the beach. Is that okay?” I asked. She leaned in the doorway and picked at her freshly manicured nails, and she nodded a little.

“I guess I can come.” She said, furrowing her eyebrows. I was studying, but I can do that later.” I grinned and kissed her cheek.

“Lovely. Now go grab your bathing suit, and come on. We’ll be waiting.”

“Come with me?” She asked. I looked back at Matt and tried getting his attention. After waving my arms a few times, I finally got it. I motioned that I would be out in a minute, and he grinned, and shot me the “You know she’s wanting the D right now” look. And honestly I probably wasn’t ready to do that yet. Maybe. I shrugged again, and walked inside with her. I hadn’t actually been inside her house before, other than than to get Val every once in a while and to hang out with her and Matt. “I’ll be down in a few minutes, unless you want to come up with me?” She
asked. I shrugged again.

“Er.. Not unless you want me to.” I said. “Are you sure you want me to go up with you?”

“You’re my boyfriend. Of course, silly.” She giggled quietly. Both her and her sister were out of high school and still lived with their parents, but held steady jobs. Enough to help around the house. I nodded, and followed her upstairs, looking around at the paintings and photographs of her and her sister, brother, and parents. Once we got to her room, I sat down on the edge of her bed while she rummaged through her numerous panty drawers. I thought back to Matt, who was probably sitting on the steps, or probably gone to the beach by now. I didn’t blame him. This seemed like it would take a while.

“Nice room.” I stated, looking around. Her walls were a shade of purple with pictures of us hung up around the headboard on the walls, even pictures of us before we started dating. Her on senior prom night, homecoming, whatever else there was. When I looked back up at Michelle, she was already stripping down to her underwear. I decided to turn around, and give her some decency. After a moment, I felt the bed shift, and I felt Michelle wrap her arms around my waist, bringing a hand up my chest, rubbing it gently. It felt nice, I’ll admit. I closed my eyes, relaxing
at the touch of her hand.

“I love you, you know that, right?” She asked in a light whisper. I nodded, smiling a little.

“I love you, too, baby girl.” I replied. After I had said that, she stood back up, and I turned back around to face her. She was only in her leopard spotted bra, and matching panties. I moved around on the bed a little, trying to adjust myself in my pants. She slowly climbed onto my lap, pushing me backwards until I was completely laying down. I looked up at her and she raised up, straddling my lap.

“Are you okay?” She asked. I nodded slowly. “I don’t want to do anything that will make you uncomfortable.” I held onto her waist and scooted back, sitting up and laying back against the headboard.

“I’m fine, baby. Just let me call Matt and let me tell him I’ll be late getting out and to the beach. Okay?” I said, gently squeezing her thighs. She nodded, and I grabbed my phone from my pocket. I had already got a missed call from him once, so I was going to return it. I unlocked my phone screen and pressed it to my ear, waiting for him to answer.

“Hello?” He asked.

“Yeah. About that. I’m gonna be a little late getting out to the beach..” I said. “Michelle wants me to stay a while. That okay?”

“Yeah, man. I’ll hit up Jimmy and see if he wants to help out. Or Johnny, if he’ll answer my goddamned calls.” He said. “You have your time with Mich. We can chill tomorrow.”

“Alright. I might come home, might not.” I said. Michelle’s expression instantly perked up, and she grinned, rubbing at my chest again. Matt chuckled.

“Sounds fair enough, Brian. Laters.” He replied, then hung up. I turned off my phone and sat it of to the side, so I wouldn’t have to deal with others trying to pester and bother me. I turned back to Michelle.

“Now where were we?”
