Crossroads
Chloe P.O.V.: Here I was. Standing atop the bridge on the far end of the beach. I've never been able to swim, so I figured this was the easiest way to do it. The water was clear blue, looking back at me as I stared at the crystals inside taunting me to jump. I mean, why shouldn't I do it? My parents died in a car accident when I was 16, and I was moved away from all my friends to Huntington Beach to live with my grandma. Two weeks away from my 19th birthday, she passed away. I had no family, no friends and no one else. I never mixed into crowds at all. I always stood out in a negative way, and felt like everyone could so easily point out every thing I was self-conscience about. I had no self esteem. What could anyone want with me, this red-haired 5'5" mess? 23 years old and I couldn't even stand myself. I just didn't know. I took a deep breath and began to lift my foot when suddenly I heard someone.
Brian's P.O.V: "Dude, go for a drive and try to clear your head up. I know every thing's a mess now, but you''ll pull through.' Zacky said as he pried yet another beer can out of my hand. I was so twisted in my thoughts it was fucking ridiculous. I realized that he was right and I sighed as I brushed my jeans off and stood up.
"You're right. I'll take a drive down to the beach and see if that helps.' I agreed. I grabbed my keys off the table and started for my car. Thank goodness I only live fifteen minutes away from the one place that can cheer me up.
I found a parking space and took a walk around. It was fairly breezy out, so no one was really here. This gave me the perfect amount of time to think. I sat down a few feet away from the water and attempted to understand what happened just two weeks earlier. My girlfriend, no excuse me--ex fiance--had cheated on me. I just couldn't fucking believe it. Every thing I did for her, and this is the thanks I get in return. I treated her perfectly, gave her the entire world and more. Like a woman should be treated. My thoughts roamed a bit too far and I felt tears nipping at my eyeline. I took a deep breath, said a goodbye to that part of my life and continued my walk. Soon I found myself drifting closer to the far end of the beach, and that's when I saw a red haired girl on top of the bridge, foot perched and ready to jump. Nervous and worried, I just yelled towards her.
"Hey!"
