Sometimes Our Saints Are Sinners (TVH sequel)

Chapter Fourteen

“Hey, Jimbo.” I greeted, spitting out the burning chlorine in my mouth. I wiped the beads of water from my face and smoothed out my drenched hair, watching with curious eyes as Jimmy approached the swimming pool in his suit, alone. “Where’s the guys?”
“Oh, James invited them to go out with your mom and him to the mall or something.” Jimmy replied, shrugging. I raised an eyebrow at him, but he ignored my perplexed staring and continued to put his towel next to mine.
“And you’re still here because…?” My voice wandered, my eyes catching every move of Jimmy’s body. Jimmy scoffed and took out the bottle of sunscreen, squirting out a decent glob of white lotion.
“You are incredibly sassy today, Kid.” Jimmy said pointedly, smirking as he lathered his soft, pale skin with the glossy goo. “I offer to stay here and keep you company since your mom wanted to make you go but James said to let you stay and this is how you repay me? By rudely asking why I’m here, as if I need a reason?”
“I wasn’t asking why you were here.” I corrected him, flicking my eyebrows up. His crystal eyes narrowed, ushering me to continue. “I asked why you were here alone. Usually you have your posse following you around.”
“Ha.” Jimmy snickered as he rubbed the final remains of the greasy substance upon his skin. “My posse.”
“You can’t say that they aren’t your followers, Jimmy.” I snorted. Jimmy’s eyebrows rose and he cocked his head. I scoffed. “They follow your every direction, Jimmy. Whatever you wanted them to do, they’ll do it. Whatever you want to do, they’ll get it done and make sure you’re happy.” Jimmy let out another laugh of disbelief. I clicked my tongue and shrugged. “You have to face it, Jimbo. You’re the puppet master.”
“Puppet Master…” Jimmy repeated, bringing a hand to his chin. He stroked his imaginary beard thoughtfully as he stared off into the sky. “That’s awesome. New stage name?”
“Fuck no.” I spat. Jimmy laughed as I shook my head furiously, whipping water around like I was a wet dog. “No, no, no. I will not be the person who changed your stage name. You’re staying the Rev, got it?”
“I thought you said I was the puppet master,” Jimmy challenged. I pursed my lips and gave him a look.
“You’re the guys’ puppet master. But when it comes to all of you,” I stuck my hand up and wiggled my pinky. “You’re all wrapped around here.”
“I can’t say that it a lie.” Jimmy chuckled as he stepped into the pool. “This water is so hot. Why does your Aunt Susy always leave it so warm?”
“I don’t know, but I feel like its cooler outside than it is in here.” I whined, cupping some of the hot water in my hand.
“This is essentially a big ass hot tub.” Jimmy huffed as he glared at the blue liquid.
“You’re telling me.” I sighed, putting myself under so I could keep my hair from drying weird. I opened my eyes under water, which seemed like witchcraft in this kind of heat, and watched Jimmy from below the water. He was fiddling with the top of his red swim trunks, playing with the tie or something. Jimmy has something on his mind. I came out of the water and wiped my face again. “What’s up, big boy?”
“What do you mean?” Jimmy wondered, not meeting my gaze as he continued to play with his swim trunks.
“You’re acting pouty.” I stated, tilting my head down a little. Jimmy made a face of disapproval, but he wasn’t fooling me. I stood up in the shallow end, allowing my whole torso to leave the hellish water as I prepared my magic act. Jimmy watched with glowing eyes and I pretended to fiddle with glasses on my face before placing my fingertips on my chin. “Well, Mr. Sullivan, if you don’t believe me I’ll just have to prove you wrong.”
“Okay, Ms. Caron, please tell me what I don’t know about myself.” Jimmy replied, pursing his lips a little. I smirked.
“Well first off you’re wearing red.” Jimmy scrunched his face up in disbelief and confusion.
“And? What’s wrong with me wearing red?” Jimmy said quizzically. I cleared my throat and smirked.
“You only wear red two times in your daily life; when you have a love interest or when you want a love interest.” Jimmy opened his mouth to speak but I put a finger up. “You’re also fidgeting with your clothes and you of all people decided to stay home. Now why didn’t Zach, or Brian, or Matt? Did you think that perhaps a certain friend would be appearing? A very special friend that Mr. Stallion Duck has his pretty blue eyes on?”
“Wha—now wait a—” I couldn’t help but let out a quiet and triumphant giggle as Jimmy’s face turned a bit pink.
“Busted.” I cackled, sticking my tongue out as I laughed at Jimmy’s expense. The cat had most definitely caught his tongue, his mouth going shut as a pout bled across his face. “It’s okay though, Jimbo. Lucky for you, I was one step ahead.”
“Wait, what?” Jimmy stuttered. As if on cue, the roaring sound of Kaleigh’s car was met with the sound of gravel, moments later her car coming into view.
“You’re welcome.” I stated in a cocky tone as my eyes followed Jimmy’s whose followed the car.
“I didn’t say thank you.” Jimmy corrected. I smirk and pushed on his chest a little.
“I can read your mind.” I responded in a matter-of-fact tone. I heard the creak of the old metal door and watched closely from between the pines, waiting for the model to appear. Within five seconds, she appeared from behind the trees in such a matter that I had momentarily considered dumping guys and trying to win her love.
“What’s up my homies?” Kaleigh asked nonchalantly as she strut over to the table. Jimmy and I continued to watch her as she set her things down and put lotion on her already golden brown skin.
“I told you she looked fine in a swimsuit.” I whispered to Jimmy, my eyes stealing a glance in his direction. The blue was glued to Kaleigh’s body, which was covered only in a string bikini. It was black with white skulls on it, and although it didn’t necessarily flatter her body in the color area, it definitely was boner-worthy. The proof was standing right next to me.
“Damn straight.” Jimmy whispered, his voice barely inaudible. I smirked and rolled my eyes a little bit.
“You might want to move to the deep end for a few minutes, Puppet Master.” I told him, pursing my lips slightly. He looked over at me with a confused look and I scoffed. “Are you really that unaware of your bodily problems?”
“…Oh.” Jimmy’s face once again flushed a very deep shade of red.
“What’re you guys yapping about over there?” Kaleigh asked, glancing over her shoulder as she lathered her skin with sunscreen lotion. She grinned cheekily at us. “Me?
“All day everyday sweetheart.” I replied calmly. I cleared my throat and elbowed at Jimmy a little bit to send him away. He put his head down and moved towards the deep end. He swam in circles but fidgeted uncomfortably as he did so. I laughed a little.
“What’s his deal?” Kaleigh asked from behind me. I smirked and shrugged.
“It’s Jimmy, how the hell would I know?” I mumbled, horribly failing at trying not to smile, which got Kaleigh’s attention. “You’re hot.”
“I’m incredibly flattered.” Kaleigh cooed, tilting her head lovingly. I shook my head.
“That’s not what I meant.” I informed her, shooting her a look from my peripheral vision.
“I was talking about Jimmy.” Kaleigh corrected me. My mouth dropped but I was ignored as Kaleigh swam over to the deep end. Both of them stood tall enough that they didn’t have to wade to keep themselves up, but I unfortunately was not. And suddenly I was a third wheel, and I wished that Zach or Johnny had stayed home too. Or maybe—
“What’re you doing over there, shorty?” Jimmy called in a mocking tone, snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned my head towards them and saw that both of them were looking at me like I had done something illegal.
“I’m… standing.” I answered awkwardly, shifting uncomfortably under their gaze.
“You were staring straight into the sun.” Kaleigh told me, her unbearably perfect eyebrows lifting as she spoke. I bit my lip a little.
“It’s a talent of mine.” I said, the awkwardness of the third wheel setting in quickly. It remained silent and my eyes scanned the pool deck, searching for something—anything—that I could do to get them to leave me alone. My gaze landed on a ratty old volleyball which was still full of air despite the fact that it looked like it was falling apart. I walked over to the edge of the pool and hopped half way out to grab it, straining to reach with my seemingly stubby arms. After I pulled it in I returned to the former place that I stood and turned to the other two. They had continued to watch me as though they were gargoyles, which was becoming creepy. “Don’t mind me, I’m just gonna volley.” That unfroze them and they turned to each other, seductive expressions both covering their face. I began bouncing the ball, making sure it was quiet enough so I could eavesdrop.
“So, Jessi said you’re a lone wolf?” Kaleigh purred. I cringed.
“Wow, jumping right to the important stuff.”
“What can I say, I’m a straightforward kind of girl.”
“I like that.” Kaleigh giggled and I turned around a little, disgusted by their blooming romance. Ah, the perks of being bitter.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“Eh, I’ve been around. But I haven’t quite found what I’ve been looking for.”
“Another wolf to run with?”
“More like a moon to howl to.”
“Hot.”
“Ugh.” I gagged, not willing to let their suck-fest go on anymore. I stopped bouncing the ball and turned to them, a full-on scowl coating my face. They grinned widely and shared a laugh together, neither of them at all embarrassed that I had heard their blatant innuendos to each other.
“What, Princess? A little flirting disgusts you?” Kaleigh snickered, winking at me a little bit. I threw the ball at her but failed miserably, it landing about three feet behind her.
“No, thinking about Jimmy ‘howl at your moon’ disgusts me.” I retorted, air quoting what Jimmy had said. Both of them burst into laughter, two kindred spirits finding really awkward things to say absolutely hilarious. “When you guys get married you better fucking thank me for putting up with your bullshit.”
“Who says we’ll get married?” Jimmy asked, looking both shocked and amused. I smirked a little.
“You’ve flirted with Kaleigh. There is no way she’s gonna let you go now, Mr. Stallion Duck.” For once, Kaleigh’s face got a little red, which made me incredibly happy. I started laughing, watching at Jimmy pretended to be horrified. I would have continued to laugh if it weren’t for the drenched volleyball to hit me in the face, silencing my amusement.

Notes

It took a long time, but I finished it. I am so sorry everyone (/.\) In my defense balancing school, work, social life, youth group, after school stuff, and relaxing for five minutes in between is freaking impossible. However, be glad that I haven't taken Emma's advice and just killed Kid so I don't leave this story 'unfinished'. I can't do that. I promised you guys an ending and you'll get one! Enjoy, I'll see you in another three months with chapter 15 :D ~Jessi.
Also, tell me what you think of Kaleigh? Do you think she's gonna be a keeper or will she be the next Gayle? >:D
