Unbound (The Wild Ride)

*Brian’s P.O.V.*

I quietly sit on the plane, so excited to see Zachary. When I get home, I’m going to tell him the truth. I check my bag, looking at the present I got for Zachary. I know he’ll like it.
When we land, I meet up with Matthew waiting for me. He helps me with my bags. I sit in the car before Matthew gets in and starts it up.
“How has it been at home?” I ask him.
“It’s been quiet,” he answers.
“How’s Zachary?” I ask as I get more comfy in my seat.
“Well,” he starts, “he’s been fine… until today?”
The raises concern with me, “Today?”
Matthew clears his throat, “He’s been quiet and has been in his room pretty much all day.”
I start chewing my bottom lip. I wonder what has Zachary all quiet. I wonder if my past came to my doorstep while I was gone. I probably should tell Zachary about my past before I give him his present. I have quite the collection of skeletons in my closet that if I want this to work with Zachary, I should reveal my collection to him. For him to be open with me, I should do the same for him.

Once I’m home, I bring my things inside. I retire Matthew for the day. I leave my bags by the stairs. Those can be put away later, I have more important things to attend to. I look around the house. I can’t find Zachary downstairs but by the time I get to the stairs, Zachary is coming down the stairs… with bags of his own.
I’m completely speechless for a moment, “Zachary… what… what is going on?”
“I’m leaving Brian,” he tells me, in such a deadpan voice.
“L-leaving? Leaving why?” I ask him.
“I think you know,” he spats, “My brother is coming to pick me up.”
“Know? Know what?” I’m so confused by his words.
“I know about Michelle, Brian!” he yells at me, “I know about her!”
I couldn’t believe it. Of all my skeletons to encounter, it had to be Michelle.
“Zachary, please listen-”
“No! I don’t want to hear it!”
“Zachary I beg of you-”
“I said no!”
My heart breaks when I see tears roll down his cheeks.
“How could you?” he asks me, “How could you lie to me? How could you be with someone while you were with me… was I not enough? I thought I was the only one for you…”
“You are the only one,” I tell him, “I don’t know what she told you but they’re lies. I told you from the beginning, I’d never lie to you.”
His bottom lip quivers, “I want to believe you… but I don’t.”
“Zachary… please,” I beg of him.
We see lights go by, a car is parked at front.
“My brother is here,” said Zachary, “I’m going.”

*3rd P.O.V.*

“Please don’t leave,” Brian pleas, “Give me a chance to explain all of this.”
Zacky pauses for a moment before he slowly shakes his head, “I’m sorry… but I can’t. I’ve been hurt too many times in the past to risk more pain and I’m in too much already.”
Zacky goes to the door with his bags.
Brian grabs his arm, “Please Zachary.”
Zacky tries to hold his tears, even though some escape, “…Gerbil.”
Brian froze.
Zacky said the safeword, but Brian knew Zacky said it as to say ‘Stop. No more.’
Brian watches as Zacky walks out the door. He thought his heart broke earlier. This moment shattered his heart to tiny fragments. Zacky put his bags into the trunk of the car then shut it. He opens the back door of the car and slips in. Zacky looks out the car window to see Brian watching from the front door window. Zacky took a deep breath before looking away. Tears roll down Brian’s cheeks as he watches the car drive away. His legs give out and he drops to his knees. Brian breaks down and cries.

The present Brian had for Zacky falls out of his jacket pocket. When it hits the floor, the black box opens up. There inside is a sliver ring with array of gorgeous diamonds. A purchase Brian never thought about making until the second he knew he was in love with Zacky. He never felt such pain before

Now Brian, still on the floor of his home, is surrounded by darkness…
