Seize The Day

Chapter 13

The guys left so Cassy and I could get ready. Cassy showered quickly before coming back out to fix my hair. She curled it loosely and fixed my makeup adding wings to my eyeliner. After she finished we went out separate ways to get dressed. I stood in front of my closet for fifteen minutes; I didn’t know what to wear. I didn’t know if Zacky and I were still together or if I should try to get someone new. My door opened slightly and Cassy popped her head in.
“What’s wrong?” She asked coming into my room completely.
“I don’t know what to wear.” I said crossing my arms over my chest.
Cassy hummed to herself as she went through my closet. She pulled out a short tight fitting black dress. “This and your gold heels.” She said shoving into my arms. “And hurry up the guys will be here soon.” I changed into the dress she picked and put on my gold strappy heels, I added some gold hoop earrings and a gold bracelet. When I walked out to the living room Matt and Brain were already here. Matt was wearing a black T-shirt with dark washed jeans, and Brian was wearing a white V-neck shirt with black skinny jeans. “Are we ready?” Cassy asked walking out her room in a short purple dress with silver heels.
“I would say so.” Matt said looking my way smiling.
“Should we walk?” Cassy asked when she closed the front door.
“Walk?” I asked confused.
“A new club opened up like three blocks away.” Brain said taking Cassy’s hand.
“Oh,” I didn’t know I could miss so much in a week. “Let’s walk no point in driving.” I said. We started walking Cassy and Brian in front while Matt and I followed.
“Are you okay?” He asked looking down at me.
I smiled up at him. “It feels a bit weird going out but I’m okay.”
“You’ll be okay.” Matt said smiling back at me before grabbing my hand and lacing our fingers together. I looked away, when I looked up I met Cassy’s stare, she looked down at mine and Matt’s hands and frowned slightly. We reached the club in five minutes, it was only eight but there was already a line around the block, but we skipped it. Cassy greeted the bouncer and he opened the rope for us and ushered us in.
The music was loud and the club was packed. “Do you want a drink?” Matt had to yell for me to hear him. I nodded and he led me through the crowd. He ordered us two beers; while we waited I turned around to examine the club. Cassy and Brian were already on the dance floor grinding on each other, “They seem happy.” Matt said following my eyes.
I smiled, “Yeah they do.” I was happy and jealous all at the same time. Cassy was always so good with relationships hers would last month’s on end where mine usually only lasted a couple of months at most. I felt something cold on my shoulder and looked over to see Matt holding my beer, I smiled and accepted it. We stayed at the bar as we both finished our beers.
“Do you want to go dance?” Matt asked looking out to the dance floor.
I shook my head, “No, but that girl over there does.” I said pointing to a small girl with bright red hair. When Matt looked over she quickly looked away.
Matt smiled and looked at me, “Are you sure?”
“Positive now go.” I said pushing him towards the girl. I watched as the girl squirmed a little as Matt made his way over to her. She almost jumped off her stool when he offered her his hand.
“Wow that was nice of you.” I nearly jumped out of my skin. I turned around to be greeted by a tall guy covered in tattoos. He smiled, “Hello, my names Austin.” He said offering his hand.
I narrowed my eyes. “Kaylin.” I said shaking his hand.
“Well it’s nice to meet you Kaylin.” He said, “Can I get you a drink?” He asked still smiling. It was a warm and friendly smile.
“Sure,” I said smiling at him. “A shot of tequila would be fabulous.” I said turning back to the bar.
He ordered us both a shot. “Bottoms up.” He said smiling and downing his shot. I tipped mine back, the alcohol bit at the back of my throat, but it felt so good to drink again. “Now would you like to dance?” He asked.
I smiled at him, “Sure.” He offered his hand and when I took it he pulled me from my seat and onto the dance floor.
We had danced for a few songs before I started to feel uneasy like someone was watching me. I turned around and pressed my back into Austin’s chest so I could look around. At first I didn’t recognize anyone, until my eyes found Cassy standing at the bar; my body went ridged when I saw she was standing with Brian, Jimmy, Johnny, and Zacky. Zacky was watching me and Austin dance. “What’s wrong?” Austin asked his hands rested on my hips and his breath tickled my ear. Cassy turned around and looked where Zacky was looking and she waved at me.
“Can you excuse me for a minute?” I asked turning around to face Austin.
He looked up to where I was looking, “An ex?” He asked his hands still on my hips.
“I’m not sure yet.” I said feeling a bit bad.
“Can I give my number?” he asked smiling. I smiled back and handed him my phone. He punched in his number before he kissed my forehead and disappeared into the crowd. I took a deep breath and turned around. I nearly fell over because Zacky was right behind me.
“Who was he?” He asked he looked pissed.
“A new friend,” I said coldly. He looked taken back by how cold my words were.
“We need to talk.” He said looking at me.
“Oh now you want to talk.” I said throwing my hands up. “You have had more than a fucking week to talk about what happened! But now in the middle of a club you want to talk!” I yelled. Anger flashed across Zacky’s face and he went to say something but I didn’t let him. “You forgave Matt before you even decided to talk to me and that’s fucked up. I get he is your best friend but I called you every damn day trying to talk to you but you ignored me!” He opened his mouth but I continued. “And don’t use the studio as an excuse because I know what days you guys had off. You know what I don’t feel like talking Zack, we both fucked up but I don’t feel like fixing it right now.” I said before turning and walking away as fast as I could. I heard him yell my name but the he was drowned out by the music.
I pushed my way out the back door. I took a deep breath when I hit the cool night air. I heard a light moan and looked over to see Matt and the red head I hooked him up with earlier. I cleared my throat and they jumped apart. “Kay! What are you doing out here?” Matt asked his face was flush and so was hers.
“I needed some air and by the looks of it so did you two.” They both blushed a deeper red. I wasn’t going to ruin Matt’s night by telling him Zacky was here. “You two enjoy yourselves.” I said smiling before turning around and going back into the club. Someone grabbed my arm and I was ready to slap whoever it was, but when I turned around it was Austin. “Oh hey.” I said smiling at him.
“Are you okay?” he asked, “I saw what happened with that guy.”
“I’m okay; I just want to go home.” I said looking up at Austin’s warm chocolate eyes.
“Do you want me to take you home?” He asked moving closer to me. He moved his hand down from my forearm to my hand.
“That would be great.” I said smiling at him. We wove our way through the crowd to the front entrance. We both took a deep breath of fresh air when we got outside.
“How far do you live?” Austin asked. “I took a taxi here so I don’t have a car.” He looked down.
“You offered to take me home and you don’t have a car?” I asked smiling. He looked embarrassed. “It’s okay I live three blocks away.” I said laughing lightly. We walked in silence Austin still holding my hand.
“So are you and that guy still together?” Austin asked.
“Truthfully I don’t know, I tried so hard to talk to him for the past week and he ignored me.” I said shaking my head.
“What happened?” Austin asked I gave him a quick summary of what had happened. “That’s not really fair.” He said frowning as we stopped in front of my house. “Is this it?” He asked looking at the house behind me.
I looked back, and smiled “Yes it is,” I looked back at him. “Do you want to come inside? I can call you a taxi.” I said smiling. He blushed slightly and laughed.
“Sure,” I led him inside.
“Do you want a beer?” I asked walking to the kitchen.
“Yeah,” Austin said sitting down at the breakfast bar. I opened a beer and handed it to him. We talked for a little bit, Austin avoiding the subject of Zacky. “So why California?” He asked after taking a drink of his beer.
I shrugged. “Warm weather and beaches, why not?” I said smiling.
He laughed, and was about to respond when the front door opened. “Oh my god there you are!” Jimmy yelled when he walked in, he was followed by Matt, Brian, Johnny, Cassy and then Zacky. “Wait who is he?” He stopped and was staring at Austin. My eyes went to Zacky who was glaring at Austin.
“I’m Austin.” He said smiling awkwardly at the group. He looked over at the clock on the stove. “Oh, I need to go.” He said standing up quickly. “Thank you for the beer. I’ll see you around Kay.” He said kissing the top of my head. “It was nice meeting all of you.” He said as he rushed out.
Everyone watched as he left the door swinging closed behind him. “And I thought you were the master when it came to avoiding social situations.” Cassy said looking back at me.
“You two assholes need to talk,” Brian said pushing Zacky forward, “Now.” He said.
“She doesn’t want to talk.” Zacky said his words cold.
Anger bubbled up in my stomach. “No I didn’t want to talk in the club.” I countered. “And I would rather not talk in front of all of you.” I said looking at everyone else.
“That is our cue.” Cassy said, she walked behind me and grabbed a bottle of vodka off the top of the fridge. “We will be on the beach.” She said ushering everyone out leaving only Zacky and I in the house.
I looked at Zacky, he took a deep breath. “Were you going to hook up with that guy?”
“No,” I said not looking away from him.
“Why not?”
I was annoyed by this question he should have known why I wouldn’t. “Because I don’t know where we stand.” I said sitting down on the barstool. Zacky looked up at me. He looked shocked, and that scared me, I started to wonder if he hooked up with someone else during the week. “What why do you look like that?” I asked.
“Look like what?” He asked walking towards me.
“You look shocked why?” I said crossing my arms over my chest. Zacky looked down for a second. “Did you sleep with someone else?” I asked.
Zacky’s head shot up. “What? No! Why would you think that?” He asked.
“Well then why did you look so shocked?” Zacky looked down again and it clicked in my head. “You think I cheated on you don’t you?” I asked my tone harsh. Zacky looked at me and nodded. I buried my face in my hands. “It was a fucking year ago how many times do I have to tell you that!” I yelled.
“What about that day you were at his house when I got there?” He asked defensively.
I looked up and stood up, I stepped close to him. “Why can’t Matt and I be friends without you getting all pissy and jealous?” I asked. He looked down and I let out a sigh. “Why can’t you get it through your head that it was one night? I don’t have feelings for Matt. I-“ I paused and looked down.
Zacky looked down at me. “You what?” He asked quietly.
“I have feelings for you.” I said refusing to look up at him.
“Just feelings?” I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Feelings are very powerful and horrible.” I said looking up a small smile on my lips.
“Are they really that bad?” Zacky asked stepping closer to me.
“Yes, they’re horrible they make you feel things, and usually when you feel those things you’re either really happy or you want to curl up and disappear.” Zacky stopped and looked down.
“Did I really make you feel that bad?” He looked so sad and guilty.
I looked down. “Yes, then when Matt told me that you forgave him it made me feel even worse.” Zacky wrapped his arms around me.
“I’m so sorry Kay I never should have made you feel like that.” He said resting his chin on my head.
“If I stay friends with Austin are you going to get jealous?” I asked.
“No, but if he tries anything I’ll end him.” He said tightening his arms around me.
“Should we tell them they can come back inside?” I asked turning my head to look out the living room window.
“Nah.” Zacky said, I pulled back and looked up at him and he smiled before kissing me. “I’m so sorry.” He said before kissing me again. “Let’s go to bed.” He said and I nodded.
