"I like big butts and I cannot lie!" I sang at the top of my lungs while rinsing off dishes. I was wearing one of Jimmy's shirts which was way too big on me and a pair of my sleep shorts.
I was so happy Jimmy took the news of my being pregnant well. At first I'd thought he'd be upset, but I should have known better. I knew Jimmy had always wanted a family, I never should have thought any differently.
I started dancing around the kitchen shaking my butt to Sir Mix-a-Lot's most popular song which was blaring through my iPod dock speakers. "My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun!"
I heard laughing come from behind me and I turned quickly to see Jimmy standing in the doorway doubling over with laughter. I turned my music and faced Jimmy with my hands on my hips. "And what is so funny, mister?"
"You...dancing....big butts!" he managed to say in between laughs.
I rolled my eyes at him but I started laughing too. I really did look pretty foolish.
After we had both finally calmed down, Jimmy stood up straight and pulled me to him. "You know, you actually looked pretty sexy dancing around like that. Especially in my shirt," he said winking at me.
I leaned up on my toes to kiss him. "And you always look sexy." I pulled away and went back to the sink to put the dishes into the dishwasher.
Jimmy came up behind me and held up my right hand which I had wrapped in a plastic baggy. He gave me a questioning look and I shrugged.
"So I don't get my cast wet," I told him.
Jimmy nodded. "Oh ok. Well you go sit down. I'll finish this. You go find us a movie."
After he was done in the kitchen, I ran up to him holding our favorite movie in my hands. I held it up over my head and he smiled. "Jacob's Ladder? Sure. Put it in."
We had both loved this movie for so long. It was so creepy and disturbing, yet amazing.
After the movie, Jimmy picked me up and carried me to our bedroom where Titan was asleep on the bed. I laughed at Jimmy's surprised face as he put me down on my feet. "Down, Titan," I said to the dog.
Titan yawned then got down off the bed and walked out of the room. Jimmy raised an eyebrow at me. "That dog never listens to me," he said.
I laughed and pulled him onto the bed. "I'm just that good."
After sex that night, Jimmy held me and he was rubbing my flat (for now) tummy. He leaned over and gently placed his head there.
"Hey there little one," he said to my stomach. "I'm your daddy."
I smiled at him. "You're going to be the best daddy ever, Jim. I know it."
Jimmy looked up at me the leaned over to kiss me. "And you'll be the best mommy. I love you Brooke."
I turned over onto my side and Jimmy pulled me to his chest. "I love you too, Jimmy," I said as we drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, I jumped up and ran for the bathroom. Soon, I heard Jimmy come into the bathroom after me and he held back my hair.
After my nasty morning sickness was done with, I walked down to the kitchen for some cereal. Cocoa Puffs sounded amazing right now.
I knew Jimmy was in the shower, so after my breakfast, I decided to watch at least part of a movie. I was in the middle of Nightmare Before Christmas when Jimmy came down the stairs in only a pair of low riding shorts.
I bit my lip as I saw him come into the living room shirtless and hair still wet. I'd heard somewhere that being pregnant boosted your sex drive and right now, it was definately being boosted.
Jimmy smiled at me when he saw me looking at him up and down. "What's that look for, baby?"
He stood next to the couch and I knelt on the arm of it so I could reach him. I started rubbing my hands down his chest slowly as I kissed his neck. He moaned and I smiled.
Jimmy gently pushed me down on the couch and laid on top of me. I could feel his erection against my leg and it only excited me more.
Later, after two rounds of sweaty sex on the couch, I went upstairs to get dressed. When I came back downstairs, Jimmy was on the phone and he was not happy.
"I don't care! She's married to me now so just leave us alone!" he was saying when I came up behind him.
I put my hand on his back and he turned. Jimmy's face softened when he saw me, but he didn't smile. I could hear a male's voice yelling at Jimmy through the phone. I wondered who it was.
"Brooke wants nothing to do with you. I don't care if you helped her with the harassment charges," Jimmy said and my eyes got wide. It was Drew he was talking to.
I had dated Drew before I had gone to college and once I got back, he had wanted to try again. But by that time, I loved only Jimmy and it pissed Drew off. I had needed his help later for harassment charges against my boss at the school and I hadn't heard from him since.
I reached up for the phone but Jimmy shook his head mouthing, "No".
I gave him my "I'm serious" look and he finally handed me the phone. "Drew?" I said into it.
"Brooke?" he said. "Well hey there. I didn't think Sullivan would actually let me talk to you."
"What do you want, Drew?" I said getting straight to the point.
"What? An old friend can't just call you up to chat?" he asked and I rolled my eyes.
"We're not friends, Drew. Now tell me what you wanted or I'm hanging up." When I said that, Jimmy nodded his head vigorously.
I heard Drew sigh. "I just wanted to say congratulations on your wedding and on your bun in the oven."
My eyes widened. What the fuck?! "How do you know about that?"
Jimmy was holding his hand out for the phone but I shook my head. "How did you know?!" I shouted when he hadn't answered me.
"News travels fast, huh?" Drew said and I could hear the smile in his voice.
I tried to go through my head of all who knew I was pregnant: me, Jimmy, Val, the guys, my mom.
At that last thought I stopped. Of course it was her. I had told my mom lastnight about my pregnancy. And she had always liked Drew better than she had any of my boys. My mom had told him.
"My mom," I said and Jimmy's eyes got wide.
Drew laughed. "Very good. See, you and I both know that I was your mother's choice for you. I mean, why not? I'm handsome, I'm rich, I'm succesful-"
"You're also a giant douchebag," I said interrupting him. "Jimmy was right. I want nothing to do with you." Then I hung up then phone.
I sat down onto the arm of the couch looking down at my hands. Why did Drew always have to come along and ruin stuff for me? I shook my head. He wasn't going to ruin this.
This was mine and Jimmy's baby and I would never let anyone take that away from me.
Jimmy pulled me into his arms and ran a hand down my back. "So he knows, huh?"
I nodded and he sighed. "Well, I'm not going to let anything happen to you, Brooke," he said placing a hand on my stomach. "To neither of you."
I leaned up to kiss him. "We are going to have the perfect family, Jimmy. You wait and see."
