Promise You Paradise

"Bay, what if everyone is staring at me?" I asked, cowering behind my sister.

"No, Hay, no one is staring at you." She replied, slightly annoyed.

"It's my hair, they are all making fun of my hair." I pulled the hood of my hoodie up over my bight red hair and cowered some more. What can I say, I'm good at cowering. My sister, Bailey, she is the tough one.

"Hailey, you're hot. Don't hide your good looks, if anyone is starring it's because they are admiring your beauty." She said, pulling my hood down and ruffling my hair. I grumbled and continued to follow her through the crowded cafeteria. She found and empty table and we sat down and began eating our lunch.

You see, it's our first day at Huntington Beach High School, in California. Needless to say, I'm kind of panicking. My twin sister, Bailey, had this crazy idea; new school, new look. She put some light pinkish purple in her hair and I colored my dark brown hair a bright fire-y red with some blonde in the fringe. I regretted it the moment I saw it, but Bailey being Bailey wouldn't let me change it back.
As we ate I looked around at all the different cliques that occupied the lunch room. They were typical, the rich kids, jocks, cheerleaders, goths, stoners, etc... I returned my attention to my lunch and a few moments later the swinging doors in the cafeteria slammed open and five, very loud, very rowdy guys came barging in, laughing and being generally obnoxious.

Everyone in the lunch room looked up at them, and the returned to their previous conversations and such when they realized who it was. Apparently this bunch was always like this. Unfortunately, my hair kind of made us obvious. There was one guy, who appeared to be the leader of this group, who noticed us looking, smirked, and said something to his friends.

The guys started walking over to us and I could feel my face go pale. Bailey look at me and rolled her eyes.

"Calm down you wuss." She said and nudged me a little. "Finnish eating and we will go hang out in the library or something if it will make you feel better." I nodded and tore my gaze away from the pack of large, tattooed men that were making their way to us.

When they got to the table , they sat in the seats that were empty. I lowered my head and looked over at Bailey, knowing she could sense my fear, and she looked back at me and with her eyes, told me to ignore them. I sighed and looked down at my partially eaten sandwich and picked at the crust, while she scarfed down hers, acting as if they scary men weren't there.

"Good afternoon, ladies." The leader man said, flashing us a smile. I looked up at him and took in his features; he had short dark hair, hazel eyes, and dimples. My god, those dimples.

Bailey looked up too, and played it cool, like always.

"What do you want?" She said, one eyebrow raised.

"Just to ask a question." Dimples replied, making all of his friends snicker.

"Then ask, and get lost." Bailey commanded.

"Both of you feel free to answer, but, does the carpet match the drapes." He said, obviously trying not to burst into laughter, his friends, however, were a different story. One even fell out of his seat because he was laughing so hard.

So, Bailey and I have that twin thing, where we can feel each other's emotions and such, and let me tell you, Bailey was PISSED.

She calmly pushed her seat back, climbed up and walked across the table, dropped herself down so she was straddling Dimples in his seat, smiled sweetly and then pushed him over so he fell backwards and began punching him in the face.

I sighed, pulled my hood over my hair again, and laid my had on the table.

What a splendid way to start our senior year at a new school.
