Somebody's Watching Me
Chapter Seventy-Four:
Adam’s POV
It’s been a month since my daughter’s graduation. I’ve been itching to make my move, but I know that if I move too soon, everything will fall apart. It’ll happen any day now. I’m just waiting to catch her alone. I have everything ready.
The house is ready and waiting. There is no possible way to trace it to me or Derek. It’s an abandoned house that I was able to buy for cheap. I used all cash, a fake ID, and a disguise when I paid for it. The walls have all been soundproofed. The windows are nailed shut and the doors all lock as soon as they close. Once I have her, everything will be perfect.
Derek has become increasingly agitating. He never shuts up. I just want some damn peace and quiet. I’ve had to endure hours and hours of his devious, little plans for my daughter. He seems to forget who she really belongs to. He seems to do that a lot. I’m always there to remind him.
Originally, I was going to have Derek wait at the house, while I grabbed her. But, it’s become clear to me, that he won’t have that. If he’s not included, I’m sure he’ll do something reckless. I can’t have him fucking up all of my hard work.
We’ve spent months watching Lydia and biding our time. There is bound to be a day that someone slips up and she goes somewhere alone.
Lydia’s POV
I passed the six month mark since my surgery, two weeks ago. I’m ecstatic. The doctor gave me the okay to ease myself back into things. If I was still in high school, I’d be able to start classes again, even if it was just a light load. The same would go for work. I won’t be able the run any marathons anytime soon, but it’s great news, nonetheless.
I closed my eyes and listened the birds chirping. It’s still pretty early this morning. I don’t think anyone else is up yet. I’m sitting on the driveway, watching the sun rise. Tony is out here with me, so I should be okay.
A clanging from a nearby van caught my attention. It’s white, windowless, and completely nondescript. I don’t think I’ve seen it around before. We live in a pretty nice neighborhood, so the van sticks out like a sore thumb. Some neighbors own their own businesses, but all of their vehicles are nicer than that.
I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the van. That’s weird. Tony seemed to notice the same thing I did. He got off of the bench on the porch and came to sit beside me. I gestured to the van and he nodded. He kept watching. I showed him the picture I snapped of the van and the license plate. He took my phone and forwarded it to himself.
The van in question drove off. The way they sped off only confirmed my suspicions. We’re being watched. The only question is, who is watching?
Notes
This is a little on the short side, but the crazy drama starts next chapter!
Feeback? Stay tuned!
Lots of crazy, mad love,
Katie
I have a deep admiration for how much time and thought was put into this. Amazingly well done. Brava.
