Until The End

My Many Demons (1)

"Hey, where's Brian? Its like 11:59."

Zoey turned from Arin to look at Abby.

"He said he had to use the bathroom. He's been gone for a few minutes," she shrugged.

"You better go find him. The countdown's starting," Abby laughed.

"I guess I should. Thanks," Zoey smiled as she walked off towards the house.

As she approached the patio, she saw Brian's tall frame in the kitchen. Smiling, she stepped in the threshold, but stopped short when she saw the familiar blonde with him. The smile left her face when she saw Brian grab her and roughly kiss her. She closed her eyes, hoping she was just imagining it. When she opened them though, they were tightly embraced while they were kissing. They still hadn't noticed her standing there either. She felt tears fall down her cheeks when Brian pulled away to whisper something to her. He went right back to kissing her afterwards.

"Hey, did you find him?" she heard Abby say.

"Oh..." she heard her mutter as she stepped beside her.

"Um, come on, honey. You've seen enough," Abby muttered as she wrapped an arm around Zoey's shoulders.

Zoey let her lead her away from the house and back into the yard.

"I'm sorry you had to see that," Abby muttered.

"How long?" Zoey asked.

"How long what?"

"How long have they been fucking each other?" Zoey spat.

"As far as I know, it was only one time on her birthday. Daphne called the whole thing when she found out that you’re pregnant," Abby told her.

"Oh, how noble of her!" Zoey laughed, bitterly.

"I don't think anything else happened between them."

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"

Abby stayed silent. Zoey sighed.

"I'm sorry. This isn't your fault."

"You have every right to be angry," Abby told her.

"Can you just take me home please? I can't be here anymore," Zoey muttered.

"Of course," Abby smiled lightly.

"I guess we better get back to everyone else," Daphne suggested once they pulled away for good.

"I guess so," Brian agreed.

"I'll see you next week then?" she asked.

"Yeah, you can bring Misty if you want," he smiled.

"We'll have to see if she has school," she told him.

"Well I'll see you around," he muttered as he walked towards the patio.

"Hey, Bri?" she called.

He turned to her before he got to the patio.

"Happy new year," she smiled.

"You too, kid," he smirked as he walked out.

"Well that was quite intense."

Daphne's eyes widened as she turned and saw Kyle standing in the threshold of the kitchen and living room.

"Uh, how much of that did you hear?" she asked.

"All of it," he laughed, humorlessly.

"Well this night just keeps getting better and better," she muttered as she sat at the island.

"You really love him, don't you?" he asked as he sat next to her.

"He's alright," she smirked.

"Smart ass," he laughed.

"I'm really sorry about tonight. I should have never left the bathroom," she frowned.

"Yeah, I was a bit frustrated," he laughed.

"I'm so sorry," she laughed.

"I'll get over it," he shrugged.

"I'm sorry I got you in this mess. You deserve a lot better than this."

"Hey, we're not perfect. We were just keeping things simple anyway. I was kind of talking very intimately to this secretary at work anyway," he admitted.

"Ohh, how scandalous," she teased.

"I try," he grinned.

"So this is it then, huh?" she asked.

"Unless you want to go again right here," he smirked.

"I think the moment passed," she laughed.

"Hey, we had fun while it lasted though, right?" he asked.

"We did," she smiled.

"We can still be friends though, right?"

"I don't see why not. We'll still have to get the kids together too."

"Oh definitely. Misty started to grow on me too," he laughed.

"Yeah, she has that affect on people," she laughed.

"I guess we better head outside before your brother comes looking for us," he suggested.

"I guess," she muttered.

"Hey," he muttered as they made there way to the patio.

He grabbed her hand to stop her.

"You know you can always call me if you or Misty ever need anything," he told her.

She smiled and leaned up, kissing his cheek.

"Thanks, Kyle," she smiled.

As they made their way outside, Daphne's phone rang from inside her clutch. She pulled it out and answered it without looking at the caller ID.

D-Hello?

Silence. Daphne huffed.

D-Really, you creep? You have perfect timing, don't you?

She only heard the breathing on the other end.

"Fucking creep," she muttered as she hung up.

"Is that asshole still calling you?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah, he called me earlier too," she sighed.

"Try calling the number back," he told her.

"It comes up as unknown; it won't let me," she shrugged.

"I know my way around these things," he told her as he took her phone.

"How?" she asked.

"I'm a lawyer," he shrugged.

He pressed a few buttons on her phone before bringing it up to his ear. After a few seconds, even through all the noise, they heard ringing coming from somewhere around them.

"He's here?" he spat.

"Shh!" she hissed.

They listened and followed the ringing around to the side of the house. They saw him make a break for the gate, but Kyle grabbed the back of his shirt before he could get to it.

"Who the hell are you?" Kyle barked as he pulled him into the light.

The guy slowly turned to look at Daphne. Even though a baseball cap was shadowing his face, she could still make out his features. His eyes were piercing blue and he was showing signs of age. She almost didn't recognize him until she saw the scar on his left cheek.

"Jared? What the hell are you doing here?" she spat.

"Aw, didn't you miss me Daph? Oh wait, your probably too busy missing Derek," he smirked.

She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Wait, you know him?" Kyle asked.

"Kyle, could you give us a minute?" she asked, not taking her eyes off of Jared.

"Yeah, no. I am not leaving you alone with this creep," he spat.

"Don't worry, pretty boy. I won't touch her, I'm just a messenger," Jared cut in.

"Kyle, please?" Daphne asked.

"I'll be right over," Kyle reluctantly told her.

She waited for him to be out of hearing distance before glaring at Jared.

"How the hell did you find me?" she spat.

"Derek remembered where your brother lived. I've been here for about a week now."

"Why have you been calling then? I'm surprised you haven't come after us yet."

"Derek told me not to touch you. He wants to do the honors," he smirked.

"Well where is Derek? Why did he send you? Why didn't he come here himself? Or is he afraid that I'll hand him over to the cops?" she smirked.

"For your information, Derek's still in New York getting his affairs in order. And don't get too cocky, sweetheart. Derek can hand you over to the cops too. You did kidnap his daughter after all," he pointed out.

"I think being a drug lord and a murder is worse than taking, not kidnapping, his daughter away for her own good. Who knows what could have happened to her because of him?" she spat.

"Um, what proof do you have against him, Daph? You have nothing. He burned all his files as soon as he found out you left. There's no paper trail to tie him to everything. You are powerless," he smirked.

"How could you be working with a monster like him? I don't understand how you could be connected with someone like that! You have a son. Hell, your son and Misty played with each other all the time!"

"Hey, speaking of Misty, where is she? Is she here? I'd love to see her," he smirked.

"I swear if you touch one hair on her head!"

"Daph, what's going on?" they heard Matt call.

"Who the hell are you?" he asked as he stood next to Daphne.

"This creep has been calling her and basically stalking her," Kyle spat as he approached them.

"Um, what?" Matt barked.

"Don't worry, I was leaving. Oh and Daph..."

Jared stepped forward and leaned in to whisper something in her ear.

"Since Misty isn't here, I think I'll stop by your place tonight and go see her. I'm sure she misses her Uncle Jared."

At that, Jared turned and stalked off. Daphne stood there, frozen and rigid.

"Daph, who the fuck was that?" Matt hissed.

Finally realizing that Jared was going after Misty, Daphne ignored her brother and raced through the house.
