Until The End

Led By Pride

“Mommy!”

“Mommy’s sleeping,” Daphne grumbled into her pillow.

“Mommy, wake up!”

“Five more minutes!”

“Mommy!” Misty whined.

After getting no response, she began poking Daphne in the face.

“Its Christmas!” she chanted.

“Its not Christmas for little girls who wake their mommys up!”

“Yes it is!” Misty insisted.

Daphne groaned when she felt Misty plop down on her back.

“Mommy, its Christmas!” Misty repeated.

“I think it might be Christmas,” Daphne muttered.

“Mommy, get up!” Misty whined.

“Alright, let me up.”

Daphne got out of bed once Misty climbed off of her.

“Go! We have to see what Santa left!” Misty insisted as she pushed on Daphne’s legs.

“I’m going, I’m going,” Daphne laughed.

After she put on a pot of coffee, she walked into the living room and sat on the couch as Misty started opening her presents.

“Do you like what Santa brought you?” she asked once she finished opening them.

Misty grinned and nodded as she opened one of her new toys.

“Alright, well I’m going to shower before we have to head over Uncle Matt’s. Don’t get into anything,” Daphne warned as she walked back to the bathroom.

After her shower, she walked back in the living room to find Misty in the same spot.

“I have another surprise for you,” she smiled.

“What is it?” Misty grinned.

“You’ll have to wait and see,” Daphne smiled.

Minutes later, a knock at the door sounded through the apartment.

“Is that my surprise?!” Misty squealed.

“Go find out,” Daphne smirked.

Misty ran over to the door and opened it.

“Lucas!” she grinned as she launched herself at her best friend.

“Merry Christmas!” Lucas smiled.

“Merry Christmas, Misty,” Kyle smiled.

“Merry Christmas,” Misty grinned as she let them in.

Daphne stood up as they walked in the living room.

“Merry Christmas, Lucas,” she smiled.

“Merry Christmas,” Lucas smiled.

“Hey,” she smiled at Kyle.

“Merry Christmas,” he smiled as he pecked her lips.

“You look nice,” he complimented.

“Thanks,” she smiled.

“This is from us, Misty,” he smiled as he handed Misty a wrapped box.

“Mommy, it’s a build-a-bear!” Misty grinned as she pulled out a large, dressed teddy bear.

“You didn’t have to get her that. They’re expensive,” Daphne muttered to Kyle.

“Don’t worry about it,” he shrugged.

Daphne led the way into the kitchen once the kids started playing with the new toys.

“Can I get you some coffee?” she asked as she poured herself a cup.

“That be great,” she heard him respond.

After she added his desired cream and sugar, she turned to him and handed him a mug full of the hot liquid.

“Thanks,” he smiled as he leaned down to kiss her.

“You’re welcome,” she smiled.

“What are your plans for today?” he asked as he sipped his coffee.

“Misty and I are going over my brother’s in a little bit. My parents are supposed to go over there too,” she responded.

“Mind if Lucas and I tag along?” he asked, surprising her.

“You want to meet my family?”

“Sure, why not? You can introduce me as your sex toy,” he smirked.

“I’m sure my brother and dad would love that,” she laughed.

“I think they’d appreciate it,” he grinned.

“You seriously want to go though?” she asked.

“Why not? The kids will get to spend Christmas together. It’ll be fun,” he shrugged.

“This should be fun,” she smirked.

“Matthew!” Daphne yelled as she walked into the house with Misty, Lucas and Kyle following her.

“Outback!” she heard him call.

She led the way to the back patio and found him sitting in one of the chairs. As usual, he had his shades covering his eyes and he had a beer in his hand.

“Merry Christmas!” Daphne smiled as she plopped down on his lap.

“Merry Christmas sis,” he groaned.

“Hi Uncle Matt!” Misty smiled as she reached her arms up to him.

“Hey beautiful,” he smiled as he lifted her up and placed her on his lap with Daphne.

“Aw!”

Daphne looked over just as Jade snapped a picture of the three.

“Hi Kyle,” Jade smiled.

“Hey. Jade, right?” he asked.

“Yup, this must be Lucas,” she smiled.

“Say hi, buddy,” Kyle urged as he nudged him.

Lucas shyly waved as he stood next to him.

“He’s adorable. Hey! I think I have some Christmas cookies waiting for you two,” Jade smiled.

“Cookies!” Misty smiled.

“Lets go!” Jade smiled as she led the way into the kitchen.

“Matt, this is Kyle,” Daphne introduced as she got off his lap.

“Hey man,” Matt greeted as he stood to shake his hand.

“Nice to meet you,” Kyle smiled.

“You too. Can I get you a beer?” Matt asked.

“Sure, that be great,” Kyle responded.

“That went better than I thought,” Daphne muttered once Matt walked inside.

“I guess I’m just that loveable,” Kyle smirked as he sat on a patio chair.

“I’m so glad you’re so modest,” she laughed as she sat on the arm of his chair.

“I know, I’m a rare breed,” he smiled.

Matt then walked back out with a beer for Kyle and a glass of wine for Daphne.

“The kids are watching a Christmas movie,” Jade announced as she followed him out.

“So we went to the doctor’s the other day…” Matt started.

“Is the baby okay?” Daphne asked.

He’s fine,” Jade grinned.

“That’s good. How have you been feeling? Wait! Did you just say he?" Daphne asked, catching on.

“It’s a boy!” Jade squealed.

“Oh my God!”

Matt and Kyle laughed to themselves as they watched Daphne and Jade hug each other and jump around.

“I am so happy for you guys!” Daphne grinned as she kissed her brother’s cheek.

“I know! This is so exciting!” Jade smiled.

The baby talk continued on for the next few minutes.

“So Kyle…” Matt started, changing the subject.

“So Matt…” Kyle replied.

“You better be taking care of my sister.”

“Well I think I have her set sexually,” Kyle smirked.

Daphne and Jade laughed as Matt’s jaw dropped and his face turned red.

“You so had that coming to you,” Jade laughed as she leaned on Matt’s arm.

“I’m just playing, man,” Kyle laughed.

“Liar,” Daphne laughed.

“Another comment like that and she’s going on the pool,” Matt laughed as he pointed to Daphne.

“Damn, you’re not wearing a white shirt,” Kyle smirked.

“Oh shut up,” Daphne laughed.

“Well it looks like I’m missing the party,” they heard a voice say.

Daphne looked to the door and her eyes widened when she saw Brian standing there. His eyes locked with hers before he turned his attention to everyone else. Daphne frowned when she noticed that he was looking at everyone and everything, but her. The last time she saw him was when she had sex with him in Matt and Jade’s room. Since then, she felt disappointed in herself for sleeping with Brian just to prove a point. She also felt guilty for using Brian like that.

“Hey Daph, could you help me with something in the kitchen?” Jade asked, breaking her train of thought.

“Yeah, sure,” Daphne smiled.

“I’ll be back,” she told Kyle as she pecked his lips.

“Excuse me,” she muttered to Brian as she approached the door.

He grunted a response as he stepped to the side.

“Okay, what the hell was that back there?” Jade asked as she shut the patio door behind them.

“What was what?” Daphne asked.

“You and Brian! You two won’t even look at each other. What happened?” Jade asked.

“Don’t judge me, okay?” Daphne asked, giving in.

Jade nodded, urging her on.

“Remember the day after we went out with the girls, when I came to pick up Misty? Well anyway, when I went to get a bathing suit from you, Brian followed me up. He told me that he heard about the whole Kyle thing and he told me that I wouldn’t be able to handle an emotionless relationship with only sex involved. He said I’m too emotional for it. I just wanted to prove him wrong so I did the first thing that came to mind. I slept with him and it obviously meant something to both of us. He wanted to talk about and act on it and I told him there’s nothing to talk about cause it was just sex. I felt awful about it,” Daphne frowned.

“You fucked Brian in my bedroom!” Jade screeched.

That is really all you got from that explanation!” Daphne exclaimed.

“First off; gross! Second of all, how could you do that to him?”

“I know, but I just wanted to prove him wrong! He had no right to judge me like that. It was none of his business!”

“That’s true but-”

Jade stopped short when the patio door opened. She turned and saw Brian standing in the doorway.

“Oh, hey Bri,” she smiled.

“Hey,” he muttered.

“Um, what was that babe?” she called as she walked to the door.

“I didn’t say anything!” they heard Matt reply before Jade shut the door behind her.

“Um, hi,” Daphne started.

“I met Kyle. He seems nice,” Brian told her.

“He is. He’s good to Misty too,” she added.

“That’s good,” he nodded.

An awkward silence fell over them.

“I got you a Christmas present,” Brian muttered, breaking it.

“You didn’t have to,” Daphne shrugged.

“Well I got Misty a necklace so I figured I’d get you something too,” he shrugged as he tossed her a jewelry box.

Daphne furrowed her eyebrows as she opened the box.

“Oh my God!” she gasped as she gazed at the diamond earrings in front of her.

“Bri, are these real diamonds?” she asked.

“Yeah,” he shrugged.

“These are so gorgeous! Thank you so much!” she gushed as she tightly embraced him.

He reluctantly returned her hug with one arm.

“So, can we talk about what happened now?” she asked as she released him.

“There’s nothing to talk about,” he shrugged.

“Bri-”

“You were the one that said it, Daph,” he said, cutting her off.

“I know, but I didn’t mean it. It is something to talk about. It was-”

“A mistake,” Brian finished.

“I was going to say incredible,” she muttered.

“But it was also a mistake. You’re the one who told me to move on and then you went and seduced me just to make a point. That’s low,” he spat.

“But you had no right to judge me like that!” she spat back.

“It wasn’t judging, I was explaining the truth to you.”

“How are you going to explain the truth about me, to me? You don’t know me!”

"I don’t know you? Daph I know just about everything about you! I know that you’ve always wanted diamond earrings, so that’s why I bought them for you. I also know that you’re a huge hypocrite! You sat there and scolded me about wanting you while I’m married and then you go ahead and seduce me!” he exclaimed.

Daphne opened her mouth to reply, but she was cut off.

“And you did that to prove a point to me, which you still haven’t proven!” he added.

After that, Daphne was speechless.

“That’s not fair, Bri,” was all she could come up with.

“Life’s not fair, sweetheart. Enjoy your earrings,” he told her as he walked back onto the patio.
