Waters Ablaze

Tension

Back on the bus again, Oynix was furious. She was raging with venom! How dare they take her keys from her! She even gave Zacky a black eye. She had taken a sip of Shadow’s drink at lunch to calm her craving for alcohol and she just wanted to her motorcycle to the next rest stop about an hour away. She craved to have the power of her beast under her body. She needed the adrenaline, and when all members of the other band said no. That it was dangerous, she lashed out. Zacky just happened to be her target. Jimmy and Johnny both hid in the media room after that. Wes and she were the only members of Waters Ablaze on the bus with the Avenged guys.

“What give you the right to tell me what to do!?” She was raging with anger. If she was a werewolf, she would have shifted and tore them all apart by now.

“You had a drink of beer at lunch. Do you really think we would let you get on a motorcycle on the interstate?” Shadows was yelling just like she was.

“You have no control over me. I make my own damn decisions.” If he took another step closer to her, she would hit him also. The two of them were in the front of the bus standing a few feet apart. Gates and Zacky sat on a couch that lined the side, as Wes stood by them leaning on a part of wall behind the driver. He was about to step in, but he knew she needed to let her anger out. But if he did not, then Shadows would get more then a little black eye.

“That could have been a stupid decision for you to make. What if you wrecked and killed someone? Or yourself?” His fist clenched, face hard. He took another step towards her.

“Stand back.” She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down.

“Shadow’s you need to stand back form her.” Wes walked over to stand in front of the two of them. But he did not expect that Shadow’s would push him. Loosing his balance, Wes fell backwards and smacked his head on the metal floor. Oynix snapped.

“YOU FUCKER!” She leaped on him, taking him down under her. Grabbing her arms to prevent her from hitting him. She kicked him in the side with her knee.

“YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ME OR ANYONE! DON’T YOU EVER FUCKING TOUCH HIM AGAIN!”

“GET THE FUCK OFF OF ME YOU CRAZY BITCH!” Pushing her shoulders, her body had locked up, but she stumbled backwards. Unable to control his own temper, Shadow’s laied on top of her. Grabbing her wrist in his and sitting on her legs. She had kneed him in the back a few times, she was strong. Struggling with his hold she freed a hand, pulled back and punched him in his mouth.

Shock showed across his face for a split second. Grabbing her wrist again he pinned them down to her chest, still sitting on her legs. He leaned closer to her face, his face red with rage. He never knew someone to have a temper to match his own.

“Calm the fuck down.” He lowered his voice, so he wasn't yelling at her. He knew he was scaring her. She was squirming to be let go, not to attack him. But to get away from him.

“Let me go, please.” She whimpered. Releasing her, he leaned back on his calf legs as she stood up and ran to the back of the bus. Pulling herself into an empty bunk, she cried. He was back, he was there to hurt her but in the body of another man she was starting to trust.

“Damn, man she got you good.” Gates stood up to grab a wet rag for his friend’s busted lip. Good thing they didn’t have their first show for five days.

“Fuck. She’s strong.” He took the rag from him and held it to his swelling lip that dripped with blood.

“Ugh, what the hell.”
A muffled voice drew his attention, looking over he saw Wes slowly lifting his torso up holding his head.

“Shit, Wes I’m sorry man. I didn’t mean to take you out.” He felt bad for hurting the kid. He was only trying to protect him.

“Ahh, its all good. Damn she got you good?” He was sitting up now.

“Fuck I don’t know what came over me. I normally can control my temper, but she brought it out.” Sitting on the couch, his mind began to wonder. What had he done? He almost hit her. If Wes hadn't stepped in, he would have struck her. Hard.

“The last time you lost it like that was in high school. That party we went to when you saw the guy all over Val.” Gates had to bring her up. Fuck.

“Damnitt.”

“Ill go check on her.” Wes stood up to go find her.

Hearing her soft cries, he knew she was upset. She was scared. Shadows had scared her. Stopping at the bunk she had climbed into, he knocked on the wood frame next to it. He saw that he was being watched buy the witnesses.

“Go away.” Her voice broke. So his heart broke. Not thinking he ripped the curtain open, and hoisted himself up with her. He knew she was broken. Closing the curtain back, he grabbed and let her cry in his chest. All she needed was to cry.

“I didn’t mean to hit them. Either of them. But when he pinned me I got scared. Scared that he had come back for me.” She cried even harder.

“I know you didn’t meant to. And he is not going to come back for you. He is locked up. And will be for a long time.” Rubbing her back with one hand he softly ran his fingers through her hair, relaxing her so she would rest. He knew she wouldn’t face the guys now.

“Just relax, Baby girl. I’m right here.” He whispered, then he began to hum a soft tune to lull her to rest.

Waking with a jerk, Oynix was alone in the bunk. Her heart was hammering in her chest. What if he had found her with Wes and killed him? No. Slowly she lifted the curtain with a trembling hand, praying she wouldn’t see a goulash slaughter sight before her. She wanted to apologize to Shadows and Zacky before they were killed.

Hearing laughter caused her to jump with a scream. But instead of going backwards into the bunk she fell forwards. Pain soared through her chest as she came in contact with the rug that laid above the cold metal of the bus floor. Groaning to herself, she heard footsteps. More then one pair. Fearing he had brung extra help, she scrambled up to her feet and ran. Not even looking behind her to see Shadow’s had come to see if she was okay.

She ran, and collided with Jimmy. Seeing he was okay, she smiled and threw her arms around her.

“Um, well hello to you to Ms. Oynix. Are you okay?” he chuckled as he released his arms form her waist. She had fear in her eyes, her face was pale, her hands were shaking.

“I was-he’s here-thought killed-Wes-you okay.”

Ya she lost it. “Okay, calm down. What are you talking about? He who killed Wes?” Seeing Shadow’s behind her a few feet, he figured out what was wrong. He heard about the fight earlier, and that she was asleep. She must have just woken up, and was confused.

“Okay, there is no one on the bus that is going to kill any of us. I think you had a bad dream. Wes is alive. We all are.” Leaning his head down to her eye level, she seemed to relax.

“Where is Wes?” she needed proof.

“Wes, man, come here.”

“Yo, whats up? Hey Nix, have a good sleep?” He smiled as he appeared next to Jimmy.

Launching herself to him, she felt her body his solid. He was alive. Leaning her head down, she heard his heart beat. Laughing at her actions, he held onto her waist.

“Bad dream again?” He guessed. Well he knew. She just shook her head.

“Hey guys, I need to talk to Oynix, if she is up for it.” Lifting her head up she saw Shadow’s standing before her. With a fat lip that had dried blood on it.

“Sure.”

He opened the door to the recording booth. It was sound proof so the guys couldn’t hear what they said. Allowing her to talk in first he followed and closed the door behind him. Not seeing as Jimmy walked by and hit record.

“I’m sorry I punched you. And kicked you.” She admitted with her head slightly bent, avoiding his gaze.

“I’m sorry I yelled. We were all concerned if you were to get hurt. Yes, it was one sip. But that’s all it takes. Especially if you got stopped for speeding.” The room was small so the only had a foot between them.

“Okay, all is good then.” She said, hoping she could be let go. But she felt some kind of odd tension in the air. This was different. Looking up at him, she saw that he was watching her.

“Ya, all is good then.” He smiled at her. Leaning in closer. She did the same. Softly, their lips met.

Oh, that’s what the tension was she felt.
