It's Never Easy
Erin’s P.O.V
Papa Gates was like a father to me and he was also crazier than he lead on, he would sit there dancing like a weirdo in his kitchen if he found the song catchy and he would constantly make sure I ate.. but right now… I just couldn’t there was only one time that he got me to at least half smile but I just lied on the couch mainly.
“Erin this is not good for you, please eat or do something, I don’t want to go back and you be literally nothing… come with me down to my music label and help me get some of the stuff that I need” He said and I just sat there staring out the window while I lied there and I sighed.
“I don’t really feel like it” I said to him and he came over and grabbed my arm pulling me up and I winced a little and he pulled the side of my shirt up.
“Why are you still bruised? Just last week this was healing nicely and now there is bruising” He said and I just turned away pulling my shirt down putting on my shoes trying to avoid this subject at all costs.
“It’s nothing” I said quietly and he squatted down in front of me.
“Bullshit, what the hell have you been doing to cause this Erin?!” He asked nearly shouting it at me and I stood up and walked towards the door.
“Can we please just fucking go?!” I said getting upset and he came over and as I opened the door he slammed it closed with his hand.
“I swore to my son, YOUR HUSBAND, that I would keep you safe and watch over you, telling me what the hell you have done is not a request it is command now fucking tell me” He said and I coward down a little and sighed rubbing my head.
“I just wanted to be ready… for if Sarah came again… I have been doing some self-defense and boxing just in case” I said and he relaxed but shook his head and I knew that most likely it was disappointment that was coming.
“Brent told you to wait at least two months or so before you do any hard physical activity, you aren’t helping yourself and getting stronger… you are killing yourself Erin. Think of what that would do to Brian… TO HANNAH” He said and mentally I just had nowhere to hide.
“Hannah hates me” I said going back to the fight… it was so hard not to think about it and to try and numb myself and he just hugged me tightly.
“She doesn’t hate you Erin, she just needed to vent and that is how it came out… she will come around… now promise me… no more working out or self defense” He said and I just nodded.
“I promise” I said feeling a little relieved that I had someone to talk me out of what I was doing. I grabbed my keys and my purse and we were driving down the road to the little studio that he had and I heard Papa Gates phone ringing constantly. At first we were pretty sure it was nothing but then there were texts and calls from every single guy and I handed it to Papa Gates and he answered and all of the sudden he slammed on his breaks and locked arms with me as I gripped the door and there was a guy that just stood there smiling at us despite the fact that we
nearly hit him. We both shot out of the car.
“THE FUCK!?” I yelled and Papa Gates scanned him making sure that everything was okay and I just folded my arms across my chest.
“Hmm you really look just like your photos” The guy said to me and I just looked over at Papa Gates… I didn’t like that he was on the other side of the car. I backed up a little… this guy was weird and then I turned my gaze to the other side of the intersection and Hannah was in Matt’s Mercedes on the other side and she got out with a look of horror on her face…. I shook my head and she stopped in her tracks.
“You think I am gonna hurt her?” Kyle asked and I just glared at him.
“From the way she looked at you… I am guessing you are Kyle and yes douchebag I think you would hurt her” I said with a sour tone and I saw Hannah smack her palm to her head… but why… I had no idea.
“Well aren’t you a sassy little bitch, but I guess Hannah told you about her experience with me… damn… I thought we could be friends… that I could save you from your sister” He said and I just scanned him… he was decently tall, was a little on the skinny side but he had some muscle at least. The blonde hair and blue eyes were striking and kinda bone chilling and he had glasses that sat perfectly on his face.
“You know nothing about my sister… and if you did then you would realize what she had done to Hannah and you would be more focused on taking her down that getting Hannah” I said and he looked over at Hannah and I could see a smile grow on his face and I looked over at Papa Gates and he just kept watching the two of us and he rubbed his neck with the hand with the phone and I saw that he was on the call with Brian still. It got even worse though when I heard a laugh come from behind me….. FUCK.
“You did good notifying me about her” I heard Sarah say and Hannah came running over and I backed away from the car and I realized that Hannah and I were in a deep amount of shit right now. Sarah looked like hell probably still recovering from the wound and she was pretty pale and
had bags under her eyes.
“You should get some rest instead of tormenting me Sarah… you are starting to look like hell” I said and she growled a little bit.
“Please stop this… both of you… you two are fucking psycho for this” Hannah said and I just shot my attention as she made her way to me and grabbed my hand tightly. Sarah and Kyle were getting to know each other because they sat there just chatting and I leaned in and kissed Hannah’s cheek.
“On the count of the three… I want you to scream as loud as you can” I said to her and she just nodded and I looked over at Papa Gates who was about to cover his ears and held the phone out.
“1…2…3” I said and we screamed as loud as we possibly could….. not knowing what effect it had or how it was gonna play out.
