Scars.

Eighteen.

McKenna POV.
I lost track of how long I spent huddled on the floor. A soothing numbness had slowly crept in, all I felt now was tired. I feel like I could sleep for a week. Funny how a little thing like crying left you so drained. It must be the emotions behind the tears that cause it. I slowly got to my feet, wandering over to my dressing table. I stared in the mirror for what seemed like an age. I looked like shit. Chunks of my hair were falling out of my ponytail. My eyeliner was faded and streaked down my cheeks. I looked like a broken rag-doll. I reached forward, pulling a make-up wipe out of its packet. I wiped the black mess from my face, leaving me pale and haunted looking. I reached up and shook my hair from its ponytail, letting my slightly tangled red hair fall loose. My plain brown roots were starting to show too much. I ran a brush through it carefully. Just as I set the brush down, a crash followed by shouts came from downstairs. Scowling, I ignored it. Until Val screamed. I turned and ran from the room like a bat out of hell.

Val POV.
I leaned my head of Matt’s shoulder as he channel hopped. Jimmy sank onto the sofa by my feet.
“For fuck’s sake just pick a channel, Shads.” He ordered, tickling my feet. I kicked him in the leg as a result. My attempt to get him to stop failed.
“James,” He stopped tickling my feet long enough to look up at Matt. “if you continue to tickle my girl you’re gunna regret it.” He warned. Jimmy raised an eyebrow at him. And began to tickle my foot again. The remote bounced off the side of his head.
“Awww fuck! That hurt Matt!”
“Good.” We sat in silence for a while, watching the documentary on the TV. Syn was the one who disturbed it. He walked in and stopped in the doorway, swaying slightly. A half empty bottle of Jack Daniels was clenched in his fist. He wandered in, stopping again when he noticed Jimmy. The Jack Daniels bottle flew into the wall, smashing into pieces. I jumped slightly in Matt’s arms. He looked up, alarmed.
“YOU BASTARD!” Yelled Syn, pointing at Jimmy. Jimmy frowned and got carefully to his feet.
“What? What have I done now?” He asked.
“You know what you did!” Syn staggered forwards a few steps, still pointing at Jimmy. “You kissed my girl.” Well shit. Jimmy had told me that he’d talked to Mac about how he felt for her, but not that he actually kissed her. With that accusation, Syn swung his fist at Jimmy. Jimmy staggered backwards as Syn’s fist hit him in the jaw. Syn swung again. I screamed. I’d seen the guys argue before, but I’d never seen them actually fight with each other. Jimmy didn’t move or try to fight back.
“Come on! Hit me you girl!” Snarled Syn, as he punched him again.
“No. I won’t fight you, Syn.” He didn’t even flinch as Syn’s fist collided with his cheek. I jumped to my feet, moving to get in-between them. Matt’s arm wrapped round my waist, holding me back. I turned my head to face him as Syn punched Jimmy again.
“Why aren’t you stopping him?!” As I spoke Syn was yanked back by the neck of his t-shirt. I frowned, Johnny and Zacky were both out, so who … Mac. She threw Syn about four feet backwards, causing him to trip over and land on the floor. She looked furious. Syn went to get up, but she put her hand up, palm first and he fell back to the floor. She glanced briefly at Jimmy, before looking back at Syn.
“You are acting like a bloody child!” She snapped, dropping her hand. Jimmy rubbed his jaw, I took a step towards him, relieved when Matt let me go. His face was already starting to swell and bruise.
“Come on, let’s get some ice on that jaw Jim.” I ordered, dragging him out of the room before Syn had chance to get to get past Mac. After a glance at Mac, Matt followed.

McKenna POV.
I stayed glaring at Syn while the others left the room. He didn’t move off the floor.
“When are you going to think about what you do? Do you even realise how badly you scared Val? Have you turned into a fucking teenager again?” I demanded. He frowned. “Well? Because you’re fucking acting like one! Is scaring the hell out of one of your best friend and beating the shit out of another going to help anything? No. Would talking to him like a rational human being help? Yes. Because then you would realise that he kissed me. And that I didn’t kiss him back because he’s my best friend.” And because I love you, I added silently, sighing in frustration and turned away from him. The Jack Daniels stain on the wall and carpet caught my attention. “You can clear that up. Then you can sleep on the couch, or back in with Zacky. I don’t care. But you aren’t moving back into your room tonight. I don’t want to see your face again until you’ve sobered up and calmed down.” I said quietly, walking out of the room and leaving him alone with his thoughts.
