Dirty Visual

A week had passed; being mainly uneventful the small family put together the nursery. Brian and Zack decided on a light green pattern with animals. The crib had all sorts of zoo animals on them. The changing table had monkeys on it, the car seat had tigers. The walls were painted to match the theme; Brian being as handy as he is with a paintbrush did a theme just as he did Jared’s room. They bought clothing and all the necessities thought the days, juggling work and school. Matt’s mother won’t have to watch Jared anymore during the day because Zack’s job is letting him do his work over the computer except on the days that Brian is off. Then all he has to do is take people to view houses for a few hours. They were well prepared; especially since Matt had all of Kage’s baby clothes that wouldn’t fit him still. Jared was nearly bouncing each time they got to see the baby. They couldn’t hold Bentley yet but every day they went to see him.

Zack had to take Jared to his home school appointment since Brian switched his schedule around a bit. Instead of being off Fridays and Saturdays he took off Saturday and Sunday so Zack can show houses those days.

As soon as they entered the school Jared looked a little down. He grabbed Zack’s hand and walked with him to the office building, where Mr. Kale was waiting for them. He did not look one bit pleased when Zack took a seat next to Jared while the boy pulled his homework out.

“I thought we spoke about you coming around here Mr. Baker.” Mr. Kale reached for his office phone.

“We did. But that was before I gained custody of my boy.” Zack smirked folding his arms across his chest; looking very pleased with himself.

“You got married?” The older man nearly spat at the idea.

“No I adopted him.” Zack pointed out while helping Jared sort through his work.

Mr. Kale was surely unhappy to hear that. “I need proof.”

“I thought you would say that.” Zack pulled out the documents from Jared’s backpack and handed them to the older man.

“I see.” Mr. Kale spoke, not mentioning anything further about the situation. Just as they were getting to leave the older man grabbed Zack’s bicep making him turn to look into his eyes. With a pointed glare he spoke. “You will never be his father.”

Jared heard what the oldest man spoke but he ignored it. “On contrary I already am.” The little boy smiled to himself as Zack tore his arm away and picked him up. With a great hug around Zee’s neck Jared giggled. “You like the sound of that huh?” The little boy giggled again and nodded into his neck. “I love you buddy.”

“I love you too.” The little boy whispered back.
Later that night Brian decided to take a bath but Zack didn’t really feel up to it. Instead he lay in Jared’s bed with the little boy and read him story after story until he had to start making up his own. When he looked like he was ready to pass out Zack stood and lifted the blanket to cover him. He turned off the bedside light and was heading for the door. “Zacky?”

“Yeah buddy?” Zack turned around in the doorway and looked back at the boy. Jared fidgeted with his hands on his belly.

“Are you my daddy now?” Jared asked in a quiet, almost shy voice. Zack smiled and walked over to the bed, sitting down on the edge.

“Do you want me to be?” Zack asked brushing a stray hair off of the boys head.

“Can I have two daddies?” Jared wondered tapping his fingers together.

“Yeah you can bud.” Zack didn’t know it but Brian had walked to the doorway a few seconds after he sat back down. “Why do you ask?”

“I want you to be my daddy too.” Jared nearly whispered but both of the older men heard it. Zack was blocking Jared’s sight to the door so he didn’t know that Brian was watching either.

“Then that’s what I’ll be.” Zack pressed a kiss to the boy’s forehead. With a smile Jared closed his eyes. “Good night buddy.”

“Good night Daddy.” He barely got the words out before dropping off to sleep. Brian was beaming, watching his boyfriend watch his son. He stepped out of the room before he was caught watching the tender moment. Zack stepped out seconds later.

“You saw that huh?” He asked as they walked to their room together. Brian nodded slipping his fingers between Zack’s. As they lay in bed Brian spoke.

“We love you baby.”

“And I love you two.”
