Complicated Love

I called Drew the next day after I had gotten home from work. I hadn't talked to Jimmy yet but I wanted to so bad. I hated making him angry and I had been so stupid to yell at him. But right now I had to deal with fixing this problem on my own.
"Drew," I said into the phone. "I want this over and done with. I just want to get on with my life. This stupid fuck is ruining everything for me."
"Well, it won't take long, I promise you that. I can have him out of there in two days." Drew said. He kept going on about legal terms and other stuff I didn't understand.
"What's it going to cost me?" I asked.
"I'll figure it out and send you the amount. I'm giving you a discount on this."
A little while later I thanked him and hung up.
Then I got over my pride and called Jimmy. He finally answered the second time I called him.
"Hello?" he sounded tired.
"Jimmy? Hey."
"Oh. Hey Brooke. How's it going?"
I sighed. "Jimmy I'm sorry for yelling at you. I never meant to get you mad at me. This will all be over in just a few days. Drew is handling everything."
He paused before he said anything. "Have you seen him?"
"No. I've only talked to him on the phone. Baby, please listen to me, I don't want to do anything to hurt our relationship."
"Me neither, Brooke. I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have reacted that way." Jimmy said.
I wanted nothing more than to be held by him right now. He had always been my strong rock and I had almost ruined it all.
I could hear the guys in the background. Jimmy said something to them then his voice came back on the line. "Hey, baby," he said. "I have to go. Show is starting soon. I'll call you afterwards ok?"
"Ok. Tell the guys I said hi. I love you."
"I love you too," Jimmy said before he hung up.
I put my phone down and sat back, closing my eyes. I really did love Jimmy so much. We hadn't been officially together very long but we had known each other our whole lives. And we had loved each other for a very long time, I had just never recognized what it was before. I had always been in love with Jimmy and my pride had almost ruined everything.
Three days later, I went into work to find Principal Walker had been fired. The school was in the process of hiring a new principal and I was safe.
I called Jimmy that day after I got home to tell him the good news.
After that, the next few weeks went by quickly and I hadn't heard from Walker. Matt had sent me the money and I had sent it to Drew and we hadn't talked since.
Today was Friday and it was the last day of my six weeks with this class. It was free period when Lisa Trula came into the room.
Today she was wearing a track suit, once again way too tight on her. She waddled over to my desk.
"You are wanted in the office, Miss Claster. I'll watch the kids while you're gone." she said.
I nodded towards her and made my way to the front office. I said hi to whoever passed me and moved in to the principal's office. A young woman, maybe five or six years older than me with black hair was sitting behind the desk. When she saw me, she stood to shake my hand.
"Hello, Brooke. My name is Tammy Peterson. I'm the new principal here. Please, sit."
"Yes ma'am," I said as I sat down.
Tammy didn't sit behind her desk, instead she pulled up a chair and sat next to me. "I hear you are only a substitute for Lauren Gladsty as she is out on maternity leave. Is this correct?"
I nodded. "Yes. Today is my last day with the children."
"Well," she said as she folded her hands in her lap. "It seems that Mrs. Gladsty and her husband have moved to Florida to care for her mother."
I looked at her with wide eyes. "What does this mean?"
Principal Peterson smiled kindly. "It means that the job is yours indefinatley if that is what you want. The other kindergarten teachers tell me that you have made wonderful progress with these children and they seem to adore you. So like I said, you may have the teaching position permanently."
I smiled. "Yes ma'am. That is what I would want. Thank you very much!"
We both stood and shook hands. I was so happy I had to keep myself from hugging her.
When I got home that day, I called Jimmy after I fed Titan.
"Hello?" Jimmy answered groggily. I must have woken him.
"I'm sorry Jimmy. I didn't mean to wake you. You can call me back whenever you wish."
"No" he said. I heard some shuffling around. He was probably sitting up. "I can talk to you, Brooke. Always."
I smiled. "I miss you Jimmy."
"I miss you too, Brooke. So how was your day?"
"Oh you'll never guessed what happened!" I said. I was so excited I could barely contain it anymore. "I get to keep this teaching position indefinately. I'm officially a Kindergarten teacher. I'm no longer just a sub."
I heard Jimmy take in a deep breath. "That's amazing! I am so proud of you, Baby."
"Shut up, Rev! I'm getting my beauty sleep," I heard Zack say.
"You're going to need a lot more than just sleep to make you beautiful, Zacky," Jimmy said.
I laughed at the both of them. "I'll let you go, Sweetie. You can call me later. It's the weekend."
Jimmy yawned. "Ok Brooke. Hey, I love you."
"I Love you too." I said as I rubbed the necklace he had gotten me for my birthday.
I missed them all so much.
