We Will Remember This Day

Ronnie's still frozen up, stumbling over her words whenever one of the guys ask her a question. I try to keep calm. "So how old are you guys?" Johnny asks us "45." Ronnie shouted"62." Ronnie said again"Just kidding, Ronnie's 23 and I'm 22. We have ID's" I say calmlyThat's good enough for me!"Jimmy saysWe walk into Johnny's Bar and the guys lead us to their usual area of the bar. We all sit in the large booth, Ronnie is sandwiched between Brian and Jimmy and she looks like she's in heaven. Matt and Zacky leave to go play pool; which leaves Johnny at my side.I'm ordering drinks, what do you want?" Johnny asks me curiouslyJack Daniels on the rocks, no girly drinks for me." I say with confidenceWoah! We gotta whiskey drinker," Johnny says excitedly "that's heavy stuff, you sure you want that to drink?"Yeah." I reply nervouslyChrist turns his head in Matt and Zacky's direction"Hey guys, guess what Lily ordered." Johnny shoutedWhat did she order?" Zacky questionedGet this, she ordered a Jack Daniels... on the rocks." Johnny stated to laughInstantly Matt and Zacky join in, all three of them laughing at my request, but I hold my seriousnessLet's see how she handles the first one." Matt saysShe's a big girl, let her have it." Zack says winking to meMy heart jumps, skips and flies! I gotta remember that Zacky is a known ladies man. (Keep it together Lily...) but his snakebites though... I look over at Ronnie, she's really enjoying herself. "Hey Ronnie..." "Hey Lily, are you having fun over there?" she smiles "Of course I am." I sayJohnny comes back with everyone's drinks, taking them off of the tray and handing them to their owners. He saves mine for last, "Ready?" Johnny asks meAs I'll ever be..." I replied "Hey Matt, Zack c'mere, Lily got her drink." he callsWithin a few minutes Zack and Matt are sitting in the booth, eyeing me as I stare at my drink. Johnny then calls Brian and Jimmy. Guys, we got ourselves a little whiskey drinker over here," says a still excited JohnnyWooah! Do we now?" Gates exclaimedShow us what ya got!" Jimmy boomedWhat did you order, Lil?" Ronnie chimes in

"A Jack Daniels on the rocks." I say nervously

"Why didn't you settle for a beer?" she wondered

"I wanted to show my heroes I can drink the hard stuff just like them, to prove I'm a strong Deathbat." I say proudly

"Damn right!" Jimmy hollered

"So drink up, Lily." Johnny urged

With no hesitation I pick up my glass with trembling hands, I drink slowly but surely. Even with ice, the whiskey still burns my throat. Minutes later the whiskey is gone and I slam my glass down on the table.

"Pour me another..." I say coolly

"Wooh!" Ronnie roars

It seems I impressed the guys because they follow suit in Ronnie's cheers. Johnny pats my back, Brian high fives me, Matt nods and Zack winks at me again! My eyes well up because not only am I lucky to have a once in a lifetime opportunity to share a drink with my heroes; I get to share and spend this moment with my best friend.
