Walk With Me

This is gotta be fate. It has to be. What are the odds of them going to the same tattoo parlor and she was standing in the rain when he first saw her after two long years of not contacting each other? Without caring about his newly made tattoo he ran towards her.

Both of them now soaked in the rain and stared into each other, not believing.

“Erika.” He said again.
“Arin.” She replied.

They were fighting the urge to crash into each other’s arms as their hearts pumped fast sending shivers all over their bodies.

“How are you doing?” his voice was a bit loud, trying to fight the pouring sound of the rain.

“I’m good! You?”

Erika drank in the view in front of her. He looked good eventhough his short hair was draped and messy because of the rain. He seemed taller, probably because of the boots he was wearing and his leather jacket looked expensive. Being a rock star now, he must have tons of expensive clothing, she thought.

“I’m good too!” he answered finally.

They went silent after that. Their bodies shivered in cold and mouth opened, gasping for air.

“It’s raining.” He began.
“I know.”
“Wanna take that raincheck date?”
Erika chuckled and grinned widely. That was a clever pun.
“But we’ll be wet though.”
“Yeah we will.”

Arin bit his lip, trying to breathe normally as he fought with this coldness and his own urge. Erika too resisted the yearn to just get lost in his embrace and forget about the rain.

“Ah fuck it.”

Arin pulled her arms and brought her closer to him. His lips immediately crashed onto hers and he kissed her hungrily under the rain. Those two years of missing her presence can only brought out this side of him, and she accepted it greatly. When Erika granted access for him to explore his tongue inside her mouth, Arin rested his palms on both of her jaws. They made out under the rain, and she felt right at home.

“I missed you.” he whispered in panting as they had parted from the embrace. She smiled in shivers, his voice sounded clear to her despite the loud natural ambient around them.

“I missed you too.”

Arin grabbed her hand and ran back towards the dry street, afraid that they might catch a cold later. They both stood under the extended roof of the tattoo parlor and let silence took over as their eyes locked on each other’s. After a short moment he turned sideways facing her and ran his left hand through her drenched hair. His right hand was still knitted around her left fingers. She looked up, gazing softly at him.

“Why is your hair red?”

She blushed and avoiding his eyes. “I figured you like redheads.”

“What?”

“I – I got jealous seeing you danced with that redhead girl in Santa Barbara.”

Arin let out a laugh and pecked her lips softly. He can’t get enough of kissing her back then, he still can’t get enough of it now.

“You need to listen when I say, I just want you.”

Erika felt shivers went down her spine when he spoke that sentence in a low voice.

“I don’t care what color your hair is. It’s you that I want.”

“Arin, I love-”

PINN PINN!

Both of them jumped suddenly to the loud noise. There was a car beside them, honking loudly. It was Jenna driving, while Chris and Drew were already in the backseat.

“Wow, we’ve only been gone for a few minutes and you found yourself a guy already?!” Jenna shouted and Erika glared at her.

“Jen!”

Arin chuckled and went closer to the car with his hand still not letting go of her.

“Hey, you guys must be Erika’s band mates! Can I borrow her for tonight?”

Chris finally recognized who this skinny guy was. “Holy fuck you’re Arin Ilejay.”

Arin smiled at him and waved. He caught a glimpse of Drew beside him, smiling briefly as they have known each other since his days in Confide.

“This is Chris, my bassist, and that is Jenna, the vocal. And you already know Drew.”

“Seriously you’re hooking up with Arin fucking Ilejay?!” Jenna yelled again. Erika instantly withdrew her hand from Arin’s grip and cupped Jenna’s mouth.

“Jen, could you please take my car home and feed Rev? I’ll get you that Krispy Kreme later okay?”

“Uh-hmm!” Jenna nodded but as soon as Erika let her mouth go she screamed again. “Oh my fucking God! You and Arin Ilejay! Oh my God!!”

Arin laughed watching Erika struggled to keep Jenna’s mouth shut. Deep inside, he was grateful Erika had found someone to be her best friend when he wasn’t around. He wanted more than to just be her friend anyway.

Jenna finally drove away after they waved goodbye at Arin, leaving the two alone.

“I swear to God they were actually not like that.”

Arin gazed at her without saying anything.

“Okay I lied. They are exactly like that.”

He was still staring at her, watching her moves with a smirk on his face. Erika felt hot on her face suddenly.

“Why are you looking at me like that, Arin?”

Arin pulled her hips closer until her hands landed on his chest.

“You were saying something to me before they interrupt us. What was it?”

“Uh – nothing.” She pushed him away softly, avoiding eye contacts.

“Oh no you don’t.” he pulled her waist back swiftly. “You said; ‘Arin, I love-’, you love what?”

Her face went pink as she blushed at the confession she was about to make.

“I love – red! That’s why I dyed my hair in red.”

“Really?” he cocked an eyebrow at her and smirked again. “Okay then. I’ll let you go now. See you later.” He pulled his arms away from her and turned his back. He started to walk forward teasingly and it made Erika quickly hugged him from behind, resting her cheek on his back.

“I lied again. I love you, Arin.”

Arin smiled and glanced around behind him. He touched her arms and replied;

“I love you too, Eri.”
