Catching Feelings

Prologue

"Analeigh, stop being so bitchy and just try on the dress!" Tina shoved the bridesmaids gown in my hand and pushed me towards the dressing room.

"I'm not being bitchy, but I don't like pink!" I protested, trying to walk in the opposite direction.

"Who cares if you don't like pink! It's not your wedding!" She had a point, but that didn't make me feel any better. I absolutely despise the color pink. It makes me think of pepto bismol, which is exactly the color of this damn bridesmaids gown. I sighed loudly and walked into the room to pull the dress on. After her wedding was over, I was going to burn it.

"I haven't even met this Johnny guy." I pointed out as I tried not to throw up at my reflection. The color was hideous, but the dress was actually well designed. If it were any other color, I actually wouldn't mind wearing it.

"You're meeting him tonight. We're all going out for drinks." I rolled my eyes. Leave it to her to tell me last minute about something. Why had I never met Johnny before this day? Because apparently his job called for him to travel a lot. I didn't know what he did, either. Tina wasn't big on giving me information. I just knew that whatever he did made him travel constantly but paid him a lot of money.

"Thanks for the heads up." I mumbled sarcastically, stepping out of the dressing room. I folded the gross article of clothing over my arm.

"It needs to be taken in on the sides." I said, handing her the offending dress.

"Alright. We'll come back next week and have them fix it. Time for hair and nails. I'm in desperate need of a manicure." I laughed and shook my head as we walked out of the dress shop and down the street to the hair and nail salon I owned.

"Good morning, Analeigh." Rebecca smiled at me briefly before answering the phone. Someone was making a reservation, and I made my way towards Annie.

"The usual?" She asked as I sat down across from her. I nodded and set my fingers down on the towel. She immediately got to work on my manicure.

"Any hot dates lately?" Annie asked me. Tina perked up, and I knew I was screwed. I hated having this conversation.

"No, she has not been on any dates, and she hasn't gotten laid! As a result, she's very grouchy." I gave her the finger with my free hand.

"See?" I rolled my eyes and cursed the day I ever became friends with her. Of course I love Tina to death. She was my best friend, but she's a little.....out there a lot of the time. I actually worry about her mental health. She can be a bit crazy, but I love her all the same.

"Why haven't you been out?" Annie asked, filing my pinky nail.

"I just haven't met anyone that's sparked my interest. You know I'm picky." I mumbled.

"Yeah, and that's the exact thing that's going to keep you a virgin for the rest of your natural born life!" Thank you, Tina, for telling the world that I am still a virgin. I scowled at her, wanting to claw her eyes out, and make a very public event of it.

"You're still a virgin?" Annie asked as if she were shocked. Did I come off as a whore?

"There's nothing wrong with being a virgin at 22." I grumbled, wanting to storm ou tof my own salon. I didn't need everyone getting on the fact that I was still pure. It was my decision, and it was going to take one hell of a man to change that.

"No, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. I just thought that....well, you're hot!" I giggled and shook my head.

"Thanks, Annie, but I'm not down for opening my legs to the world. I'm fine with waiting."

"Which is why you're still single." Tina was 2.5 seconds away from getting her ass beat in front of everyone, so I chose to ignore her for the time being. No reason to start a scene right now. I'd just embarrass the shit out of her later on when I met Johnny.

"If you want to wait, then good for you. Sometimes, I wish I waited." Annie said, sighing lightly.

"No! Don't ecourage her!" I sent Tina a glare that shut her up. Oh, it was going to be a long night.
