The birds swoop low as Jade Dotson makes her way down the sidewalk. The weather has gotten chillier in the past few days, making the windshield so cold Jade could feel it to her bones. She grasps her coat around her tighter, hoping to contain some kind of heat.

Jade was on her way back from her day job as teaching art to high school students. Teaching had never been in the plans; however, with a profession in art you only have so many options. While halfway through her college career, Jade realized she was going to have to do something else and still try to do what she loves. Fresh out of college with a teaching and art degree, 22 year old Jade landed a teaching job at Huntington Beach High School. Currently, Jade is halfway through her first year of teaching, it hasn’t been something that she really loves but it’s helping her to teach her talents.

Unfortunately for Jade, teaching isn’t a job that will help you live comfortably and pay off the massive amounts of loans that college had managed to add up. Jade knew that she as going to have to take a second job. Her best friend, Emily Sawyer, came up with a fast solution for her. Emily was a head-strong, loud and witty girl who Jade had grew up with her entire life. Emily always was the leader but stood up for Jade at every possible chance she had. With Jade’s meek personality, Emily knew she had to protect her slender friend. So when Emily heard that Jade was having money problem’s she knew exactly what to do.

Emily wasn’t like her intellectual best friend who went off to college to achieve her dreams. She always knew that she wanted to open up a bar in Huntington Beach. To achieve her dream, Emily took a few classes on learning how to bartend and work two jobs to help build up money. Once Jade was done with her four years of college, Emily knew it would be enough time to build up enough money to open up her own place. Upon Jade’s graduation, the two went to work on finding a place and to start to process. Emily being the person she was asked Jade to come and help bartend at the bar since she was going to have to be running the show. Jade had been training with Emily on their down time together to learn how to bartend and what it all entailed.

Tonight was the grand opening of The Taste of Loneliness the bar was supposed to be pack with people seeing as Emily had landed Avenged Sevenfold to play at the bar. The girls were so excited and nervous to see how big the bar was going to become. Tonight was the first night into the dream of a lifetime.
