The Meeting

Jade was dressed in a smooth, black knee-long dress with a v-neckline and a thin red belt at her waist. She had matched it with her black Louboutin’s that were red at the back of the heel. Her
blonde, hair was up in a loose yet elegant bun and she only had some eyeliner as well as mascara on.

A golden ring with a red ruby sapphire in the middle of it was placed on her right ring finger.
Today she was going to meet up with In Flames leader Anders Fridén, who had travelled all the way from Sweden to Hollywood. They had spoken over the phone a couple of times regarding a huge trade, or at least what was considered pretty big in this business. They really couldn’t sign any contracts over the phone nor did they want to ship the contracts over the globe to one and other, they wanted to make sure that the right people were there as well as clarify some things that would tie it all together.

Right now, Jade was in her matt black, Lamborghini Navarra driving through the narrow streets between all the family houses. They had originally planned to meet at Jade’s office but decided it might be best to meet in a neutral place since they really didn’t know if they had each other’s full trust so they had decided to meet up at a lawyer firm. Normally firms like that would not allow gang meetings but since they had borrowed twenty-five million dollars from Jade, they really did not have much of a choice.

Jade’s cellphone started to ring with its usual trademark tone. She had a Bluetooth device on her ear so she just pushed the small button to answer the call. Even if she was in a business with a lot of murders she didn’t like them being induced by idiots driving their car whilst having their phone pressed against their ear.

“Jade speaking” she replied through the Bluetooth device as she clicked ‘answer’.

“Ms.Honours, In Flames have arrived. They’re in conference room four.” The man Jade recognized as Peter who was the security guard at the law firm informed her.

She breathed out softly. “Thank you, Peter. I’ll be there in five.” After she hung up she took the device of her ear and threw it on the passenger seat, then focused on the road again. She was close to the building; she just had to go through a junction first where a lot of traffic went through.

When she arrived at the big parking lot, she drove to the very front where she had a parking lot designated to her. She parked the car, then pulled out the key out of the ignition and grabbed her purse. After she had locked the door she strutted towards the building, the clicks from her heels echoing steadily.

She smoothed out her wine red coat that she had decided to wear since it had been a bit cold lately. When she got inside the building, the security guard from earlier on the phone, Peter greeted her and followed her into the elevator. It was a risk for her to be with another gang without any back up but Jade knew what she was doing and she had some weapons hidden on her. For example she had a strap under her dress, on her thigh that was equipped with a small gun and another in her purse as well as a small pocketknife hidden in her bra.

Otherwise than that she had her brown belt in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu that she was working on to turn it into a black one and black I. Belt in Japanese kickboxing, she didn’t want to go after the black II belt in kickboxing because that would mean that she was going to be a kickboxing champion and being one the country’s most feared mob leaders was enough for Jade. Though having a black first belt meant that she was a champion already; she had dismissed the opportunities of ever competing in it and her master did understand, he had told her, that the reputation Jade had could ruin the reputation of the fights and honor of the games.

The elevator dinged once they were up on floor five of the building and the doors slowly slid apart allowing Jade and Peter to step out of the elevator. The two walked towards conference room four and passed several people who greeted Jade, some even thanked her for helping them save this company so that they could pay their bills and put food on their tables.

“Hello Ms. Jade” a polite Asian woman who had been working there for seven years greeted. Her name was Mrs. Xing as far as Jade knew and always had a bowl of hot Miso-soup at her desk.

Jade smiled politely. “Hello Mrs. Xing. Doing good?”

“Yes, I’m doing well. You Miss?” The Japanese dialect still stuck a bit in her English language, shortening some of the words Mrs. Xing spoke but it wasn’t too hard to understand since Jade had faced a lot of business associates from countries on the other side of the planet who barely could speak or pronounce any words in English, yet insisted on speaking it.

“Great!” she smiled. “Have a nice day!” she told the older lady and waved lightly, before once again resuming her walk to conference room four. Each conference room were glassed in and the only thing separating was in fact a wooden wall otherwise it was all glass. The view from almost each room was magnificent; you could gaze out of the hills and see the entire city as well as the legendary HOLLYWOOD signs.

Jade stepped into the office and left Peter outside to guard the door, knowing how important this meeting was and that it had to end well. Meaning that the deal needed to be sealed and both parties were going to be satisfied with their arrangements.

Five men were seated around a big, oval glass table looking very uptight and masked as their faces were all the same. Lips pursed into a straight line, jaw clenched making them look tougher and their eyes slightly narrowed as the followed Jade’s every move from walking away from the door to sitting down on the other side of the table.

Jade pulled up her briefcase and pulled out a couple of papers clipped together with a paperclip and
that were organized with colored page-markers. She sorted through each small bunch of paper, dividing them at each marker and placing them one by one on the table in order. Then she looked up, curving a small soft smile.

“Gentlemen.” She nodded towards them. Anders Fridén who was the leader of the group stood up and reached out a hand that Jade shook as she slightly stood up. His grip was tight and firm, not to strong just the right amount. His grey and blue eyes bore into Jade’s baby blue ones as he introduced himself as Anders. A small tugged on his lips as the petite blonde woman presented her name.

The other men of the group quickly introduced themselves to her as Björn Gelotte that was pronounced as Bjoern. He was a man that looked to be around his forties with a long, thick brown beard covering his lower face and had the same color of his eyes to match. His posture was straight and he didn’t look very muscular or scrawny, but he had some edge to his looks as you saw his tattoos that he had failed to cover and his shaven head.

Then there was a chubbier looking man named Peter Iwers. Jade thought that he looked to be a very good-hearted person, even to be working in a business like this and seemed to take pretty light on things since he kept smiling and his dark blue eyes shimmering. He also had a small patch of beard on his chin that was pretty long but not nearly as long as Björn’s.

Niclas Engelin seemed to have even longer hair than Jade and was a pretty tall man, roughly 6’1 tall and hovered over the rest of the guys. He had broad shoulders, slender fingers and as well as the others a brown beard covering his face. Niclas also looked pretty friendly but Jade knew better, she had learned that he was probably the bloodiest and messiest ones out of the five. She couldn’t quite figure out why he would have so much hair in the way if he persisted on being messy.

Lastly there was the one guy out of the five without any facial hair, his name was Daniel Svensson. Not only did his name sound like the most common Swedish name, he looked like a true Swed was described as. Blue eyes, platinum-blonde hair and that fair skin that made his cheeks look rosy but otherwise a bit pale. He was a lot skinnier than the others but Jade knew why, mainly because he was their tech guy that hacked into servers, databases and so on.

Anders himself had narrow eyes, a thick beard covering his face and a decent amount of brown hair on his head, not to long but it fit him. He was pretty buff and looked like he had done a couple of push-ups compared to the others in the group and was fairy tall, probably 5’10. Jade had heard that he was man that knew what he wanted and got it, but by fair play. Even though the business was as wrong as it could go, he was a good man with two kids and a wife that would do anything in order to keep them safe and far from the gunshots and crime.

“So… our deal is exactly what according to you? I’ve taken it as you guys want extra protection from some of my allies in Sweden in return for weapons & information about the government in Sweden?
As well as you guys will keep track of the Pistols from England, yes?” Jade tilted her head slightly, looking at Anders as he licked his lips.

He cleared his throat and leaned forward on the table, clasping his hands together. “Yes, that’s basically it except that we want your reassurance that your allies will help us control our territory for a full year whilst we get back on our feet.”

Jade understood his concerns since they barely knew each other than how could he put his trust in some of her allies to protect his land when she might as well kill them all using her connections.

“Mr. Fridén, when I give you my word then you can be certain that I’ll stand by it. I never back out of promises I’ve made and this is no different. If it turns out that my allies refuse to go through with my orders or go against them, I’ll handle them myself.” She reassured them and reached down in the folder, looking for a pen. The sound of clicking the pen open was heard and then she reached for one of the stacks of paper, putting her signature on one of the lines then pushed the stack to Anders with the pen on top.

Jade exhaled softly, explaining to all the men where their signatures were needed also that their attestations would have to be on as well. The meaning of the attestations was basically that they would have to put their seal that represented In Flames and all of the insurance that this was a real contract.

Being in the mob was not all about blood, fights, killing and the massive robberies. It was a huge business and a lot of people believed in contracts, Jade were one of them. Of course some considered signing with your own blood would be a better way to make sure that no one would back out of the deals but Jade knew that at this point of her accomplishments, people were too afraid to go wrong with her.

After they had signed all of the paper, talked through each step and agreement they all stood up after Jade had collected the papers and put them back in the folder. They shook hands and hoped that they would have a nice co-operation before they one by one left the room, Jade being in the lead.
She had walked to the elevators, reached the head floor and was just about to go the doors when one of the receptionists called her name. The receptionist held a phone in her hand claiming that someone wanted to talk to Jade. She stepped forward and put her hand over the microphone of the phone before she spoke.

“Who is it?”

The receptionist licked her lips. “I’m not quite sure but someone named Isabelle said she forwarded the call.”

Jade gave her a small smile before she placed the phone next to her ear and greeted the person on the other end with a ‘yes?’.

The person on the other line breathed out before saying the one thing that could make Jade snap at any second.

“It’s me. Jimmy.”

She growled. “Go to hell.”

Jade leaned over the counter and slammed the phone on its stationary before she tightened the strap of her coat and sharply walked away. Leaving Jimmy hanging on the other line of the phone, flabbergasted.
