Chapter Nineteen.

We spent the entire day sightseeing and shopping. My mom bought the kids a ton of clothes and toys, even though we just had Christmas. I got myself a few new outfits, thanks to Brian, who wouldn’t let me pay for anything at all “I got it babe, save your money.” is what he said every time I opened my wallet. My mom would just wink at me, and smile knowingly. We also had lunch at this amazing Italian restaurant, Brian refused to let my mother buy lunch. They spent ten minutes “discussing” who was going to pay. While neither one of them were looking, I casually slipped my credit card to the waiter. By the time they realized the bill was gone, I was signing the receipt. Neither one of them were very happy about that one. “Fine. Since you bought lunch I’m buying dinner. No complaints.” mom insisted. “I’ll make your favorite dinner tonight” she smiled as my face lit up. “You’re the best mom in the universe.” I grinned. “What’s your favorite dinner?” Brian asked. “She’s always loved roast chicken and vegetables for as long as I can remember. She would ask for it every afternoon when she would get home from school and every year on her birthday.” She smiled softly, “I still have roast chicken and veggies on my birthday” I grinned “what can I say, I’m a girl that knows exactly what she wants”

Once we got back to my house mom sent Brian and I to the grocery store with a list of food she needed for dinner. “Here, take my card, and take your time. The kids are fine. Go enjoy your boyfriend without your kids.” she smiled and pushed us toward the door. “Go!” “Okay okay jeeze, Cameron be good for Granna!” I shouted as she shut the door in my face. “Well, alright then” I said, turning around to walk with Brian to the car. The ride to the grocery store was relatively quiet, until Aerosmith’s “Rag Doll” came on. “Really babe? You get this excited over Aerosmith?” Brian chuckled, “I LOVE Aerosmith! Don’t hate on Steven Tyler!” I said, singing and dancing in my seat along to the song. Brian laughed and grabbed my hand. “You are probably the most interesting woman ever.” he said as I just smiled, shrugged, and kept singing. We arrived at the grocery store, Brian grabbed a cart, and we started shopping. “I am so excited, I haven’t had mom’s roast chicken in forever.” I said, grinning. “You’re like a kid on Christmas.” Brian chuckled, shaking his head. “Once you have mom’s roast chicken you’ll be hooked.” I said, bumping my shoulder into his arm, “now let’s get shopping Haner, I’m already getting hungry.”

We grabbed all the ingredients for dinner, and I paid with my mom’s card. While we were walking to the car I wrapped my arms around Brian’s, snuggling into him. “Want to stay over tonight babe?” “You sure? I wouldn’t want to make your mom uncomfortable.” he said, kissing my head. “Oh please, she loves you. Your natural beauty and charm got to her.” I joked, “No babe, you’re the one with the natural beauty. Let’s stop by my place and I’ll grab some clothes and Pinkly.” he suggested. “Sounds good to me, I’ve missed my little baby anyway,” I grinned. “Oh man, I’m going to lose my dog to you. I see it now” he sighed, “well then I guess you’ll just have to come with her.” I said, leaning over and kissing his cheek. Once we stopped by Brian’s house, we headed home. I spent the next hour and a half in the kitchen with mom, cooking and laughing. Brian went between watching tv and playing with Cam. One time I peeked out of the kitchen to check on Madi, and she was laying on Brian’s chest, both of them dozing off. Once mom and I had dinner in the oven we all sat down to watch tv. Brian holding Madi, and Cameron was in my lap. Bri wrapped an arm around my shoulder, and I laid my head on his chest. The four of us fell asleep, covered in my favorite blanket, all snuggled together in the corner of the couch.

Mom woke us and we had a late dinner, which was amazing. Brian helped me do the dishes while mom tucked Cameron in bed. We were all worn out from our shopping trip, so we decided to call it an early night. Mom took the baby monitor from me again, and told me to sleep in. Brian and I changed into our pajamas, curled up together in bed, and fell fast asleep.
