Knights Bride
Heard Unseen
“Hello?” Antwonette called out, observing her surroundings, she saw nothing that seems
out of its original place, something that would be coming into contact with her. Many nights like tonight, Antwonette would come to central park. This park in particular, was the one place she could express her style of life, which she really was without the dresses, make-up, & royal jewels. But central park was not a place to be at night time when you’re a princess.
“Why aren’t you a pretty one.” A voice whispered through the wind. I couldn’t see anyone, the distance as blank as the surroundings before me. Whoever this was had skills, staying undetected was a big move even for me, if this was to turn into a fight, I’d be done for it.
“Who’s there?!!?? I demand that you show yourself to me!” The sounds of footsteps echoed from behind me, spinning around I came into contact with not one, but five different men, each with a different story to tell. None spoke verbally, the fluorescent beam of light from the moon, reflected words of their duty. I knew my father had sent them, how would I know? On their uniformed suits bared the insignia of my kingdom. In the middle but front stood a 6ft, 4in man, I assumed to be the leader. His body stood covered by a deep black hooded cape, his uniform beneath, his arms covered with tattoo’s that only the strongest of warriors showed. This man had hazel brown eyes that put even the most handsome of kings to shame. “We aren’t here to hurt you my lady, for I know you are our princess, the future queen of us all. Your father worries about you, when you wonder the nights alone.” The hazel eyed warrior walked closer, kneeling before me to show his respect for my presence. “What is your name
warrior?” “My Warrior name is Matthew Sanders; I am the lead warrior to your father.” Silently
nodding I gestured with my head for his fellow warriors to step forward. The green
eyed man kneeled before me, next to Matthew but yet still behind him “I am warrior
Zachariah Baker, I am second in command.” The tall blue eyed man was the next to kneel, “As
I am Warrior Sullivan, Jimmy Sullivan, I am also second in command.” The last two brown eyed men stepped
forward kneeling behind the last two, “I am warrior Brian Haner & this is my partner
Warrior Jonathan Seward.”
In the warrior life style they must give up who they were borne to be when
they are in uniform, unless they are given permission to be called by their birth
name. Not one warrior have the same name, each one has a different name, some
outrageous, some that do make sense, but never alike. When you’re a warrior, you live
to do what a warrior is to do, you are not a civilian, you’re not a brother, you’re
not a son, you’re not even a man, you’re a fighting machine & that’s it.
“Why are you out here warrior’s? Which of you made that horrendous comment
towards me?” Each fellow warrior glanced toward each other, “None of us had made a
prior comment, you called for us to show ourselves. We thought you had discovered us
around you.” Zachariah spoke. His words served my suspicions right, someone else was
out here, someone that not even these five warriors could detect. “You still haven’t
answered my question warriors, why are you out here, why are you following me?”
Brian raised his head to speak to me face to face “Your father sent us out here to
watch over you and to be here for you when you need someone to talk too. The king
wishes for you to be with one of us at all times, except in your chambers if you wish
us not to be there, my lady.” Not once in my life had my father been the one to be
over protective. But I could see the point my father was trying to make, he was
worried I’d be the next to be attacked. “Then my warriors continue on with your job,
but get in way of what I want to do, I’ll end your chances of glory faster than you
could teleport!” Thankfully these warriors were not able to read my mind, for I know I
didn’t mean anything I had said. I would never take a warriors chance of glory away
from them cause I know it is hard work to reach the glory they have reached this far.
Four of the five men disappeared, leaving Matthew behind.
“I am to remain at your side for; I am stronger than the rest.” Simply nodding
my head, I continued my walk of Central Park. “They won’t be able to protect you for
long...” the voice whispered again, the voice was distant, with yet a feeling so
close. I turned toward Matthew scanning his face for any sign that he may to have heard
the voice. “What is wrong my lady?” “Someone is out here, their voice so close but yet
far.” Warrior Jimmy appeared in front of us “We have scanned the area sir, the
perimeter is clear, we have not nor can we find any sign of life. My lady I think it
is for your best that we escort you back to the palace, if someone is out here they
could strike at you at any moment.”
“I am not the one to be seen; only in harm’s way will you see who I am.” This
time everyone heard the whispering voice, Matthew didn’t hesitate to pull me behind him
as the fellow warriors encircled us. “What the fuck does that mean!!??!! I demand you
show yourself this instant!!” I demanded. I was so sick of these damn games; I never
was a sports player. “As you wish princess!” bellowed the voice.
It was time like these, which voices should just listen and show themselves to
us, but no we had to be clueless to what its warning meant. Warrior Matthew seems to
figure out what the voice meant a minute too late. Pain erupted through my body, warm
liquid draining its self-down my body. “NOO!! Princess!!” turning in record time,
Matthew was able to catch my collapsing body into his arms. “Dammit! Princess you got
to keep your eyes open!” Matthew pleaded, he pulled me close to him shaking me
slightly. It didn’t matter what he did, my body was becoming weak, I couldn’t respond,
slowly becoming numb. “Sanders! Teleport the princess to the palace hospital now!! The
rest of us will stay & hunt this fiend!” Jimmy shouted.
Teleporting??... A power only the strongest state of minds could handle. Fairy
tales never explain the truth to a warrior’s power. When men give themselves to the
Warrior Hood, a sort of explosion happens within them, releasing powers no one has
ever seen before. With these powers come teleportation, one of the most exhausting,
dangerous way to travel. It has been said that only one warrior has ever come to
master the technique, he became the ultimate warrior, he was known as the Knight. Over
time he was said to have disappeared bringing the chance for another warrior to master
teleportation and bring order to the kingdoms.
Warrior Marcus was the last man I remembered seeing as my life, my soul
spiraled down into a dark abyss. I didn’t know where I was heading; death seemed as
close as it possibly could be. My life was on a path that I didn’t even see myself
walking on.
When the warrior reached the hospital wing no one wasted time getting the
princess in & comfortable as they worked. Warrior Matthew wasn’t allowed to stay in the
room, for the king had heard of his daughter being injured and wanted Matthew in his
chambers immediately. Matthew knew that he was in serious trouble. The king, himself
was infuriated with the warrior and his team. How could five men let one person, ONE
PERSON that they were ordered to protect get hurt?? The warriors were not the ones to
blame, they did their job and put up a perimeter around the princess but the arrow
still got through them. Princess Antwonette was now in a battle for her life, she was
shot with an arrow dipped in one of the most lethal poisons known to the world.

“How dare you fail warrior! You are the best warrior in this kingdom, you’ve
been given one assignment & you failed!!!” the kinged roared towards me. I had kept my
head bowed, staring towards the floor as the king stood before me. “My deepest
apologies my king, I did not mean for any harm to come towards the princess.” My
answer was not one the king wanted to hear, I knew that I wouldn’t make it out of
these chambers in one piece. King Marcello’s scepter flew into my face, knocking me
into the tiled floor. “I did not mean to, I did not mean too!!” the king mocked,
gathering myself I kneeled before him once again, only to struck once more. “You are
lead warrior, possibly the future king, my son in-law, I did not mean to, does not
mean you tried! It means you did not CARE! If my Antwonette does not pull through, not
only you but each and every one of your men assigned to this duty, will lose their
lives slowly and torturously!” I was not one to question my king’s words for I knew he
meant what he said.
Quiet knocking sound vibrated off of the chamber door, echoed steps signaling
someone had entered & was approaching the king. “Ah, good doctor what news have you
brought of my daughter?”. Doctor Barbizon bowed before the king proceeding to kneel
before the king stopped him. “Barbizon there is no need for you to kneel; you hold the
balances of my daughter’s life within your very hands, for that I give you permission
to not need to show such steps of respect towards I, now speak my old friend, what
knowledge do you have of my child?”. Doctor Barbizon nodded standing before the king,
“My lord, Antwonette is in a dangerous, yet stable condition. We cannot cure her,
flush out the poison from her blood stream. We have come to only two options, one that
could save her life, the other to let her slip away.” King Marcello sunk back to his
throne, slouching forward with his head in his hands. “How can we save her life, what
is needed to bring her back to me!” he shouted pain slipping through his words. “There
is an antidote, but we have to make it ourselves, in order to do that someone must
retrieve the ingredients. It will not be an easy task, send your strongest men on this
journey weak ones will only die.”. From that moment I knew I had to step up, my men &
I are the strongest in the kingdom, and we got the princess into this situation we
were going to get her out of it.
“My king, my men & I will take the journey; we will bring back everything &
anything that is needed to save the princesses life.” King Marcello emitted a deep low
growl from within, “How do I know you will succeed!! You could only fail me once
more!!” I rose before my king staring him straight in the face to show him I meant
business. “My king, your daughter is the one & only heir to your throne. I am the
strongest & lead warrior to your kingdom; I am next to the title of king! I will NOT
let your daughter die! I will NOT let my future bride slip away from me!!”.
