Chapter Twenty-Seven
It’s been about three months since New Year’s and none of us has really done anything. I’m sitting in our living room because I just woke up and for some reason I was on the couch.
“Morning.” I heard from next to me
I looked over and Matt was sitting there.
“My glasses?” I wondered
He held out his hand and I took my glasses from him and put them on.
“Why are you here?” I asked
“Your fiancée called Val and Val dragged me over.” He said
“What’s going on with Bray?” I asked
“I don’t know she is six months pregnant.” He said
“And?” I asked
He just shrugged
“I’ll go see.” I said
I got up and walked upstairs.
“Hey what’s going on?” I asked peeking into our bedroom.
Brayden’s face was tear streaked and Val was rubbing her back.
“Val I’ll do it.” I said
Val nodded and left the room shutting the door behind her. I knelt down in front of Brayden.
“Baby what’s wrong?” I asked
“Look at me.” She cried
“What about you?” I asked
“I’m a fucking whale.” She whined
“Bray you’re six months pregnant, you’re not a whale.” I said
“I’m over being pregnant.” She said
“Three more months.” I said She groaned.
“You have an appointment today.” I said
“For what?” She asked
“To find out the sex of the baby.” I said
She perked up and stood up smiling. Jesus her hormones were driving me crazy. She threw her arms around my neck and I smiled, I loved feeling her belly against mine. She walked away and I pulled a pair of pants on and a Slayer t-shirt and waited on her to get dressed. She came out of the bathroom in a pair of maternity jeans and one of my Metallica t-shirts. It hugged her belly and made her look even more pregnant.
“He’s kicking.” She said
She called the baby a he but I really want it to be a girl; I really want a little girl. She took my hand and pressed it against her belly and I felt the baby kicking my hand. We waited longer to find out the sex of the baby because we couldn’t decide if we wanted to know or not, but now we’re both dying to know.
“Brayden we’re going to be parents in three months.” I said
“I know, we old.” She laughed
“Say’s the one who’s nineteen.” I said
“Almost twenty.” She said
“Which means I’ll be twenty-five.” I said
“That’s not old.” She said
I smirked and she hugged me.
“Ready?” She asked
I nodded and we walked down to the living room.
“We have a doctor’s appointment in like twenty minutes.” She said
“We’re heading home so text me and tell me how it went.” Val said
Bray nodded and I took her hand and headed out the front door.
“You’re not allowed to know what the baby is.” She said
“What? Why not?” I asked
“Because I’m going to surprise you.” She smiled
I groaned at her and she smiled at me.
“You’ll know by the end of the day baby.” She said
“Okay.” I said
“Get excited!” She yelled
“I am excited!” I yelled
“Why are we yelling!?” She asked
“I don’t know you started it.” I smirked
I stopped at a red light and she pulled my face to look at her.
“Are you mad that I’m going to keep it from you?” She asked
“No baby I’m not, just you know I’m excited.” I said
She smiled and I leaned in and kissed her nose.
“Why do you always kiss my nose?” She asked
“Because it’s cute.” I said
“It’s huge.” She laughed
“Nah it’s just your Italianness. I mean look at Zacky’s nose.” I said
“Italianness?” She asked
“Yep it’s my word you can’t use it.” I said
“I don’t want to think about my nose getting as big as Zacky’s. He’s got a honker.” She said
I laughed.
“You kiss my nose a lot too though.” I said
“I know.” She said
“Any reasons?” I asked
“It’s little.” She said
My hand found it’s way to my nose.
“Not really.” I said
“You have a button nose Jimmy.” She said
“Blah blah blah.” I said
I drove the rest of the way to the hospital and we got out of the car.
“Little nose.” She said
I rolled my eyes and she rubbed her belly. Her belly stuck out a lot but the shirt she had on now made her look bigger. She complains about being fat and ugly but I honestly think she looks as beautiful as ever. I absolutely could not wait for this baby to be born, then she and Val are going to plan the wedding, I get the family I have always wanted but never thought I could have because of my lifestyle.
“Baby what are you thinking about?” She asked snapping my out of my thoughts
“Huh? Oh sorry I was just zoned out.” I said
She smiled and we walked into the hospital.
“I have an appointment with Dr. Lawson.” She said
“Have a seat and Dr. Lawson will be right with you.” The lady behind the counter said
She looked at me and glared at me.
“Why are you glaring at me?” I whispered
“Just stay with her. I know who you are, don’t leave her with that baby.” She whispered
“Seriously bitch? You don’t know me. I’m engaged to that woman so don’t judge me on what I do.” I whispered back angrily
Her eyes widened and I walked over and sat next to Brayden.
“What was that about?” She asked
“The lady behind the counter was judging me so I put her in her place.” I said
She smiled and me and took my hand.
“She’s kind of a bitch.” She said
I nodded and kissed her forehead.
“Mrs. Winchester?” Was said
“That’s us babe.” She said pulling me out of the waiting room chair.
“Welcome back. How are you two today?” The doctor asked
“I think we’re pretty good.” I said
Dr. Lawson smiled and we followed her to her examining room.
“So are you two finally going to find out the sex of the baby?” She asked
“Well I’m going to but Jimmy isn’t. I’m going to surprise him.” Brayden said
“Well that means Jimmy you have to step out for a moment.” Dr. Lawson said
I dramatically groaned and stepped out of the room. I danced around the hallway waiting on when I could go back in. Brayden was so mysterious in some way where she likes to keep things from me just to surprise me and keep me on my feet all day.
“Jimmy come one in.” Dr. Lawson said
I walked in and Brayden had a smile plastered on her face, I fell like it’s a boy but I don’t know I could be wrong.
“Can I know now?” I asked
“No.” Brayden laughed
“You can go ahead and clean up.” Dr. Lawson said
“Thanks.” Brayden said taking the paper towel and wiping off the goopy gel shit.
“Do you want to go to lunch?” I asked as we walked back into the waiting room hand in hand.
“Sure.” She said
We walked past the lady behind the counter and he glare was held on me. I rolled my eyes and flicked her off without anyone but her seeing it.
“I saw that babe.” Brayden said when we got into the car
“Saw what?” I asked
“What you did.” She smiled
“What’d I do?” I asked I loved playing dumb
. “Ugh! Never mind.” She huffed
I laughed.
“Where are we going to lunch?” I asked
“I don’t know.” She laughed
“You should learn three more words. Where are we going for lunch?” I asked
She looked at me.
“I don’t care.” She smiled
“Not those three words.” I laughed.
“Wherever you want?” She asked
“UGH!” I groaned
“It’s your choice?” She asked
“Oh JESUS!” I yelled
She laughed
“Then I’m choosing.” I said
She nodded and I pulled out of the parking lot and drove to the Waffle House that I always go to. I haven’t been here with Brayden since that one time but I’ve been back with the guys.
“The Waffle House?” Brayden asked
“Got a problem?” I wondered
“No I like their food.” She smiled
Finally food she likes right now. I parked the car and walked around the front to meet her. We walked into the building which was oddly packed today.
“Hey Jimmy.” Dee said looking up from the cash register I don’t know why I got along with her so well, I guess it’s because she’s always here when I am.
“Hey Dee. How are you?” I asked
Brayden and I sat in the chairs where you have to sit when the place is full.
“Hey Dee.” Brayden said sitting down
“Hey sweetheart. I’m glad to see you’re still around keeping this hooligan in check.” Dee said
Brayden laughed.
“Hopefully for the rest of our lives.” I said
“You want to marry this girl?” Dee asked
“I am going to marry this girl. We’re engaged.” I said
“Brayden get up here and let me see that ring.” Dee said
Brayden hoisted herself out of the chair and waddled towards Dee. Dee’s eyes went from Bray’s belly to me and back.
“Oh congratulations on the baby!” She yelled
She hugged Brayden and then walked around the counter and hugged me. She took Brayden’s hand and looked at her engagement ring.
“You did good Jim.” She said
I smiled and then a booth opened up and Brayden and I went over and sat in it. She ordered waffles and so did it. We ate making comfortable conversation.
After lunch we went to Matt’s house and everyone was there.
“So Jimmy if it’s a boy what name would you want to name him?” Val asked
“I kind of like Warren Michael.” I said
They all nodded.
“Do you guys know what the baby is?” I asked
“Nope I’m the only one.” Brayden said
“What about for a girl?” Brian asked
“Isabella Grace or Payson Marie.” I said
“I like Payson Marie it’s pretty.” Brayden said
“If it’s a boy name him Brian Elwin Haner the third. If it’s a girl name her Bob.” Brian said
Everyone turned to look at him.
“What?” He asked
“No they aren’t naming their kids that.” Madison said
He pouted. “Okay.” He said
“Okay so they baby’s name will be Payson Marie.” Brayden said
Everyone looked confused but I got it right away.
“We’re having a girl. I’m going to have a daughter.” I said excitedly
