I drove Brayden and I to Zack’s house leaving Madison, Brian, Papa Gates and Jenifer at our house. I’d always known there was something that Brayden was hiding about her mom from me but thanks to my awesome eavesdropping powers I overheard everything. It was silent as we drove and I thought about her mom hurting Papa Gates, I knew Brayden and I knew that if her mom hurt him she’d be right there picking up the pieces of the broken hearted Papa Gates.
“Jimmy you heard didn’t you?” I heard her ask snapping me out of my thoughts.
“I heard.” I said
“I’m sorry for not telling you, I was just scared.” She said
“Of?” I asked
“I’m not sure what would of happened but I was just scared.” I said
“I understand.” I said putting my hand on top of hers.
I picked it up and pressed it to my lips.
“I love you.” I said
“I love you too.” She said
We pulled into the Zacky’s house or ‘Vengeance Manor’ as he liked to call it.
“I still don’t understand how he lives in this big place by himself.” I said
“He’s got Ichabod and Majesty.” She said taking my hand
“And his left hand.” I laughed
“He’s left handed?” She asked
“Yeah. He’s a lefty, I’m a righty, Brian’s a righty and so is Mattie I’m pretty sure.” I said
“Oh leftys.” She smiled
I chuckled and we walked up the walk way and I kicked Zack’s door.
“God don’t kick my pretty door down damn.” Zack said answering the door.
Brayden gigged a bit and then Zacky glared at her and she stopped and he smiled. She looked at me and then at him and she threw her arms around his neck, he looked surprised but hugged her back.
“I love you Zacky.” She said
“Love you too B?” He questioned
She let go of him and took my hand.
“Well all the guys and girls are here but Madison and Brian.” He said
We nodded and walked in, when we entered the living room and Brayden let go of my hand and threw her arms around Matt who stood there confused but ended up hugging her back.
“I love you Mattie.” She said
“I love you too Bray?” He said really confused
He let got and did the same thing to Johnny.
“I love you Johnny.” She said
He looked surprised because she never really told him that before.
“I love you too freeway.” He said
He had picked up on calling her Freeway recently and no one knows why but we don’t question Short Shit. She let got oh Johnny and hugged Val who happened to be the only girl that was there that I knew.
“I love you Val.” She said
“Hey I love you too Brayden. Is something going on?” She asked
Brayden didn’t answer but she hugged another girl that was there.
“Awh I love you to Girly.” The girl said before
Brayden could say anything.
“As do I.” The other girl said
“Okay okay I only know Val.” I said
“Oh!” Val said
“Baby this is Gena and Lacey.” Brayden said pointing to the blonde and then the brunette.
“I’m Zacky’s girlfriend.” Gena, the blonde said
“And I’m Johnny’s.” Lacey, the brunette said
“Well holy shit Short Shit you finally got a gal, and she’s pretty.” I said
“What about me?” Gena asked
“You’re pretty as well but we always knew Zee could get a pretty lady.” I said
Gena and Lacey smiled like they had never in their life been called pretty which could not be true.
“Syns here!” Zacky called
Brian and Madison walked in and Brayden threw her arms around Brian and he squeezed her.
“I love you Brian.” She said
“I love you too little sister.” He said
We were all such a big family and I loved it. She then hugged Madison.
“What is wrong with you today girly?” Madison asked
“It’s just that I love my big family and I wouldn’t be alive without them.” She smiled.
We all went into a group hug
After the game ended I carried Brayden out to the car because she fell asleep in the fourth quarter. I carried her into the house and she cuddled into the comforter in the bed. I laid down beside her and fell asleep.
It was the day that Brian, Madison, Brayden and I were leaving for Ohio I was excited because I really want to play in that snow.
“Come on Jimmy!” Madison yelled at me from my living room.
“I’m coming I’m coming. Go change your tampon.” I said coming down the stairs.
She rolled her eyes and we walked out and were the last two to get into my car. Brian and Madison were in the back and Brayden was riding shotgun.
“Lets go home B.” Madison said
“I’m kind of scared.” Brayden said I took her hand as I pulled out of my driveway.
“I’m worried about Pinkly.” Brian whine
We all rolled our eyes and we were now on our way to the airport. When we were sitting on the plane people kept coming up to us.
“Look at the rock on your finger girl it’s fucking beautiful.” Some woman said to Brayden
“Right? But honestly Hun I’d marry this man with a pop tab on my finger.” Brayden said
“I thought about proposing with a gummy worm that I’d melted together but then I ate it.” I butted into the conversation.
They both laughed. When the plane took off it was not a fifteen hour plane ride that I planned on sleeping through. After a while Madison and Brian disappeared.
“Ten bucks they are joining the Mile High Club.” Brayden said not looking up from her book
“Probably.” I said
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and we just sat there in comfortable silence.......... The plane finally landed and we got into a rental car and Brayden gave me directions to her friend’s house. When I pulled into the driveway of the small blue house Brayden jumped out of the car and ran up to the door. She banged on it and a tall skinny guy opened the door.
“Miles!” She yelled hugging him
I instantly got jealous.
