The Beginning
Name: Alliyah Lewis
Age: 26
Hair: Long, dyed ebony locks, usually falling in slight waves or loose curls
Eyes: Brown that changes from light to dark depending on how I feel
Height and body type: 5’9, tall and slender, legs for miles, curvy in all the right places
Tattoos and piercings: Full sleeves, ‘DEAD EVIL’ spread across my fingers, a belt of cherry blossoms, various deathbats of various sizes randomly placed on my body, and the ‘crack head’ tattoo to match my best friend Jacoby Shaddix’s. As for piercings, I have a septum, but it’s flipped up most of the time, a double helix in my left ear, industrial in my right ear, and I had snake bites.

Vacaville, CA 3:25 P.M.
I was currently sitting in the living room of my parent’s home watching my dad try and fail to fix the TV. “Dad, maybe you should just call the repair man. I’m sure your pride will go unharmed.”
“No, no, I’ve got it!” As soon as he said that, a shock of electricity came from the socket and he jumped back.
“Yeah, you’ve got it alright.” I sighed and took out my phone to call my best friend. After three rings, my voice of reason finally answered the phone.
“Shaddixxx sex shop, how may I fulfill your fantasies this afternoon?” I giggled as he dragged the x's out to three syllables before actually talking to this nut. “Hey Jacoby, you wouldn’t happen to know a really good repairman would you?”
“Why, yes, I do. You just so happen to be talking to him right now, sweet cheeks.” I rolled my eyes before continuing the conversation. “Do you think you can be useful and get your ass down here to fix my parent’s TV?”
“Aw, but Alli, that would involve me actually getting off the couch to do something.” “Yes, I know, that’s why you’re going to do it. It’s a three minute walk, now get over here.” I hung up the phone and smirked. “Alright Dad, you can stop now you know. Jacoby’s on his way to work his magic.”
“I thought his magic was the use of his throat.” My dad looked me in the eye and we burst out laughing at that sexual innuendo. He got up and sat down next to me on the couch. “ I love you so much, baby girl.” I looked up at him and my heart sank a bit.
The way he said it was so…sad.

Huntington Beach, CA 5:45 P.M.
Brian Haner Sr. sat with his wife, Suzy , as they discussed things over with each other. Tonight was the night that they would let his son and their daughter know about something that would alter their lives a little, if not in a major way. They knew that it wouldn’t really bother McKenna, but it would definitely piss Brian off. They were simply taking this time to mentally and physically prepare themselves for the blowup and emotions that tonight would bring. They were not only telling this to their children, but also Brian’s wife and their friends that made up the popular metal band known as Avenged Sevenfold. They were all considered his family, so it was only fair that they heard the news as well.

Vacaville, CA 6:30 P.M.
Jacoby used his magical hands to fix our TV and my dad watched and grumbled the whole time that he knew what he was doing and didn’t need Jacoby in the first place. I just shook my head and walked into the kitchen.
“Dad, what time is mom supposed to be home tonight?” “She should be here soon. She told me before she left for work that she would grab some things from the store to cook dinner. We actually have some great news for you, sweetie.”
“Does it involve you guys giving me $20,000 and a new car?” “Uh, no, but I’m sure it’ll still be a surprise for you. Jacoby, son, are you staying for dinner?”
“Yes, sir! When do I ever pass up a night of free food and surprising news?” “That’s a good question. Anyway, I’m going to go take a quick shower before your mom gets here so you can do whatever.”
With that, he retreated up the stairs and I crashed onto the love seat, Jacoby flopping down on top of me. I gasped as the air was knocked right out of my lungs and I struggled to push him off of me.
“Get off of me, you big oaf!” “Not until you say the magic words,” he sang. “OMG, really? Dakota, I swear…” “Hey now, no need to go blurting out middle names, Danielle.” He slowly but surely, got off of me and sat next to me, putting his arm around me.
“So, what do you think your folks have to tell you?” “I don’t know but if it’s a surprise, I’ll most likely enjoy it. They always have the best surprises.” I sighed dreamily and turned the TV on to my favorite pastime channel, Cartoon Network.
Luckily for me, Adventure Time was playing, so I relaxed and leaned into Jacoby’s side. By the time the show went off, I was damn near asleep and Jacoby was snoring lightly beside me. The front door opened and my mom walked in, carrying a few bags.
“Aw, look at you two. Don’t wake up because of me, get your beauty rest.” I shrugged and closed my eyes, falling into a dreamless sleep.

Huntington Beach, CA 7:58 P.M.
Everyone was present in the Haner’s backyard, just enjoying themselves among family. The food that was cooked and demolished was obviously to everyone’s liking, as the plates were almost bare. Michelle, Val, and Lacey sat in a corner on the far side of the yard conversing among themselves, Jimmy and Johnny were dunking each other in the pool, it was mainly Jimmy doing the dunking, Zacky and Matt were relaxing poolside and taking swigs of their beer, while both of the Haner men were discussing a guitar riff. Suzy and her daughter were in the kitchen taking care of the dishes, having a casual conversation of their own.
Brian Sr. excused himself from the conversation and walked into the kitchen to retrieve the other members of his family and bring them outside. “Alright everybody, gather round. As you all know, this get together was about family and friends as usual, but there’s also some news that Suzy and I would like to share with you. Brian, McKenna, we want you two to know that we love the both of you very much and nothing is going to change that.”
McKenna cocked an eyebrow before asking her question: “Are you guys…pregnant?”
Matt spit out his beer, which ended up all over Jimmy. “Ew, man, come on!” “Sorry, bro. You’re wet anyway.” Jimmy shook it off and pouted.
“Um, no, Mickie, I’m not pregnant.”

Vacaville, CA 8:15 P.M.
We were in the middle of the delicious steak and potatoes that my mom fixed and Jacoby was trying to steal some of my baked potato. I hit his hand with my fork and he whined.
“Mama L, tell her to stop!” “Alli, stop bothering Jacoby and eat.”
“He’s being a fat ass and trying to eat my potato, mom!”
“Jacoby, stop trying to her potato and finish your steak.”
He rolled his eyes and some sweet peas hit him between them. He looked up, sputtering, to see my mom smiling at him sweetly. “Now I see where you get the crazy from.”
“What was that?” she asked.
“N-nothing!” He shoved a piece of steak in his mouth and I snickered. I was finally done, as was everyone else, and I began to get anxious. “Soo, mom, dad, what’s this news you want to tell me?”
They both cleared their throats and drank some of their wine. “Well, Alliyah, WE, meaning your father, wanted to give you the good news.” Dad shot her a look and she elbowed him. He chuckled nervously and smiled at me.
“Okay, Alliyah, the news might come as a bit of a shock to you, but…
