Dear God

Caged Beast and Uncared for Future

I was seething. I could feel the anger rolling off of me. I bet these monsters thought I just some little toy to toss back and forth. I bet I wasn't anything important. I wanted to rip someone's face off. I sat in the back seat of Matt's SUV, by myself, throwing a temper tantrum. I could feel his and Johnny's glances towards me through the rear view mirror, but I ignored them. I was enraged.

“Kenzie, calm down please.” Jimmy whispered as he turned around in his seat. I gave him a glare, uncontrolled by what could have been a rational side of me. The leather seat squeaked as he turned back around.

When I walked back into the mansion, it felt like a cage. Would it be like this wherever I go? Would it ever change? This cage, I know predicted myself to live in, was eerily cold; a burden I no longer could escape. The people surrounding me, were not family members or friends, they were my captives who had struggled to maintain me. They now just sheltered me, like I truly was a caged animal.

I hesitantly looked at them, I felt alienated; like I shouldn't belong in this world. I felt as if I should be a beast in hell, where –if I were to become destructive- I could do it freely and not harm anyone who tried to help me. I walked up the stairs leading to a deeper part of the prison I belonged to.

Inside that room, it was lonely, unbearably quiet. I sprawled out on the ginormous bed; staring at the ceiling.

“How lovely it is, to be just like you. How terrible it must be, to feel like an identical copy.” I sang softly, words flowing out in a broken pieced together way. My voice was soft and hoarse, sounding much like tears being choked back.

“Sweet vengeance, a mystery of shadows, plagued by the haunting screeching of gates, only to be saved by Christ. Oh yes, save me from myself.” A cracked up poem, turned to lyrics. I had no faint remembrance of where this could have come from, but yet, I felt it needed to come out; to be formed into words.

“Oh, what is this disturbance, falling from my lips as tears cascade in an unhappy way? How can you tell me it'll all be better, if it will never be?” I covered my eyes with my forearm, shielding my face as the unwanted tears fell. The last of the sad song whimpering out.

“Why can't I be normal? Why can't life be normal?” With those saddening thoughts, sleep overtook, sparing me less time on this terrible ride of emotions.

Third Person Point of View

The uneasiness in the house was unquenchable by any amount of conversation. The men would glance at each then back at the beer bottle they were holding. A matter at hands needed to be brought up and spoken about, but it seemed that none could bring it up. They could hear the mysterious girl upstairs patter on about a nonsense rambling, maybe not making sense to them, but to her, it was clear she was lost and broken, they could hear the soft sobs she let out in her sleep as she dreamed of a better tomorrow.

The uneasy silence brought the men to feel awkward about each other. A shuffling of limbs or a clearing of a throat would be the only sounds heard, maybe a swallowed gulp of booze, but not much else. It was tense and no one knew how to break it.

A loud ringing, roused everyone. Kenzie awoke from her slumber and the men had their weapons drawn till Matt had quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket.

“Shadows.” He spoke monotonously and chipped; something deep down past his hard exterior was bothering him.

“Ah, what a pleasure it is to hear your voice,” A malice voice spoke through the receiver. “A little birdy told me of a secret pet you've been hiding.” A deep chuckle that was evil and cruel, full of hate, could be heard outside of the phone Shadows was holding to his ear. The men shuddered.

“Yes, Andre, I've been hiding her; and you know perfectly well who she is too.” He spat the name out, like it was forbidden to say.

Andre chuckled once again and on the other end smirked, “Yes, indeed I do know who you're holding and as you know, I want her.”

Matt wasn't surprised to hear this, he knew that his brother was behind this, telling the one who overruled everything, Andre. He took it calmly and a gentle smile graced his charming face.

Two simple words flowed out of his mouth and at those very moments, Matt no longer cared about Kenzie's fate or of her future. He simply wanted peace back in his life and if that meant ridding of this beast of girl, he would.

“Have her.” He said and unbeknownst to Kenzie, her fate was sealed in a terrifyingly terrible way.
