It's A Girl
“Well look at you, you’re huge!” I exclaimed, walking over to her, taking the food from her and placing it on the table before pulling her into a hug.
“Ugh, don’t remind me, 8 and a half months and I miss my feet,” She groaned
“It’s not all that special when you can see them again, trust me,” I laughed, rubbing her stomach “How is baby Sanders anyway?”
“Awake and kicking, has been all night, don’t worry about your brother though, he doesn’t get kept awake by it,” She said
“That’s the fun of it though, we get kept awake by the incessant kicking and then they can do 60% of the night feeds,” I whispered into her ear making her laugh.
“Noah here?” She asked, I pointed to the room Noah had gone into with Brian to play around with guitars.
“Aunt Val!” I heard Noah call from the room, I collected up the bags of food and walked into where all the guys were sitting around
“Val brought food but she’s too pregnant to carry it any further than the door,” I laughed
“Oh fuck, food!” Matt said, throwing himself at a boneless bucket of chicken.
“Language!” Zacky and I shouted at the same time
“God, you two have turned into each other already,” He groaned
“No, we’re parents who don’t want their two year old repeating bad language, you’ll understand soon enough,”
“ouch!” Val groaned from the corner where she was playing with Noah
“What’s wrong?” Matt asked, rushing over to her
“I think our baby wants to meet Noah… now,” She said with a smile on her face, I walked over to her and spotted the wet patch on her trousers
“Alright bro, you’re up, get your woman to the hospital, we’ll meet you there,” I said, patting him on the shoulder as he helped Val up and out of the studio, all the guys shouted out wishing him good luck.
“Alright, let’s go get you a little cousin little man,” Zacky said, gathering up all of Noah’s things.
Noah ran around excitedly for a bit while everyone got their shit together, I was buzzed to become an auntie and finally be able to pass something on to someone, Val already admitted she would be calling me at 3 am when she couldn’t get the baby to stop crying, which I was going to be alright with. We all piled into Zacky’s car and drove to the hospital where we were directed to the maternity ward and the room Val and Matt were in. When we got there Matt was pacing around outside the door.
“Dude, what’s going on? Shouldn’t you be in there?” Brian asked
“Thank fuck you guys are here, Bella, she won’t do this without you,” He stressed, taking my hands in his “Please, I know you weren’t meant to be her birthing partner but she’s scared and wants you in there with her, it’s putting the baby under stress,”
“Alright, alright, let’s go have a baby,” I said with a smile and opened the door to see Val on all fours on the bed with the gas and air tube in her mouth groaning in pain.
“Val, Bella’s here,” Matt said, walking over and rubbing the bottom of her back, she looked over at me with tear filled eyes and I walked over to the bed
“Bella I’m scared,” She cried “It hurts so bad,” She groaned, taking another breath of gas and air.
“Val, listen to me okay,” I said calmly, brushing her hair out of her face “I know it hurts so bad right now, and you’re probably scared that you’re going to shit yourself or something but trust me, this is all going to be worth it, when you hold the tiny little baby that you and the man you love made, that little baby is depending on you to get it out of there safely, and care for it when they’re here, they’re going to love you so much, so you have to do this babe, you can do it,” She was nearly crying again but smiling at me, then her face changed and I knew that look
“Ugh, I feel like I need to push!” She groaned, the midwife helped Matt and I turn her around onto her back so she was comfortable to push.
Five minutes of pushing and encouragement from Matt and I the baby was nearly here.
“I can’t do it!” Val cried
“Yes you can, come on, your baby is nearly here!” I exclaimed “One more push, come on!” Val tucked her chin to her chest and pushed hard with a scream which was soon cut short when we heard the shrieking of a baby’s cry.
“It’s a girl,” Matt cried
