I'm Never Letting You Go

Top Shelf

In every few steps there was another flourishing plant, sunflowers, spider plants, bonzi trees, there was no end to this list of different plants in here. Sun was streaming through the windows, making the plants thrive in their warmth. Everywhere I walked that was something new to look at. If it wasn't the overstuffed pillows on the floor, then it was the bright, beuatiful flower or piles of books stacked waist high where ever the was room on the floor, or it was the odds and ends furniture that made this room feel like home. I craned my neck up and spun around, looking at all the books. The shelves went so high, almost up to the ceiling, there was a small gap between the ceiling and the shelf.

Shadows walked up behind me and wrapped his big arms around my torso, bringing me closer to him. "This is your safe place, nothing will happen here, this is your home." With that, the let go of me and walked out, closing the doors behind him. The sound echoed throughout the whole room, bouncing off the walls. I took a tentative step forwards, as if I wasn't sure if he meant what he had really said. After taking a few steps into the room and nothing happening, I walked into the room even more, with confidence.

I started looking for books on the bottom shelf, crawling around the room on my hands and knees. There were so many that I didn't really know what to start, I felt like a nerd in heaven and truthfully, I was a nerd. I picked up the first book with an interesting title and trew myself onto one of the fluffy and fuzzy couches, stomach down and started reading. I read and read until I didn't know what time it was anymore, I looked around and found no clock, No need for time in your safe place. I kept reading until I had to turn on the surrounding lights to make up for the setting sun. The sky was purple and pink, an explosion of colour coming from the middle. I decided to give up reading for a little while and watch the sunset. though after a few minutes, the sun had dipped below the horizon and a dark purple had replaced the pinks and purples.

I moved over to an overstuffed chair infront of the window, I threw my legs over the armrest and slouched in the middle of the chair. I picked up my book again and picked up where I last left off. I hadn't gotten very far when my eyes lids felt extremely heavy and before I even knew it, I had fallen asleep.

When I woke up, the sun was shining bright in the sky and I was still in the cahir I had fallen asleep in last night. Over the course of the night someone had thrown a big blanket over top of me. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and looked like a perfect day and it would have been if I wasn't being held here against my will.

I stood up and stretched my bones, back cracking and I started to walk around. My whole body ached from the position that I had fallen asleep in. When I turned over, I noticed a steaming cup of coffee sitting on the table beside my chair. I walked over to it and sniffed it suspiciously, I couldn't smell anything because of the overwhelming smell and I certainly couldn't see anything in the rich, dark brown. I didn't want to trust it, I didn't want to drink it, but god did it ever smell good. Back home I was practically addicted to coffee, having several cups before noon, and even more throughout the course of the day. I was still sniffing and peering into it skepticly when I heard someone chuckle.

"Don't worry, Peanut, I didn't put anything in it." Gates said, still laughing as if this was the most ridiculous idea in the whole world.

"How do I know I can trust you?"

"Don't believe me? Fine, give me the cup." He stalked over to me and grabbed the cup from right under my nose. He brought it up to his lips and took a big gulp of it. I saw the pained expression on his as it burned the inside of his mouth. After he swallowed I just stared at him, waiting for something to happen. A few minutes had passed before he started clutching his stomach, grabbing onto the shirt he had on. He had an expression of pure pain on his face and he soon collapsed onto his knees, soon falling face down onto the carpet. I stared at him in awe, completely dumb struck of what to do. My heart was beating a million miles a minute when his body started to shake and convulse. I dropped down to my knees and gently laid my hand on his back, flipping him over. I was completely terrfied.

Just as his body stopped moving completely, tears started to prick my eyes. I had my hands on his chest, trying to feel his heart beat when it started to rumble. I scrunched my eyebrows together and looked up to his face and saw his lips being pursed together. Before long he couldn't control himself anymore and he burst out laughing. I fell back onto my butt out of pure shock, a horrified expression on my face, mouth hanging wide open.

"YOU ASSHOLE!" I screamed at him. I stood up and stomped over to my chair, sitting myself down and turning away from him, ignoring him completely.

"Awe, come on, Peanut, I was just kidding!" He walked over to me, stepping over the wet coffee on the dark brown shag carpet.

"Get away from me!" I shouted as he came closer.

"Fine, be a snarky, little bitch. I'll get Zacky to get you then." My eyes widened and before I could protest he was already gone. Within minutes my heart was beating fast and I could feel the panic starting to well up inside me. The smallest things could take me off, that's why I was on medication. Before I let this overtake my body, I closed my eyes and took deep breaths, in and out, calming myself down. I was completely calm when he walked in.

"Come on, let's go." He huffed. Standing, hands on his hips, impatiently.

"I want to stay here, I want to keep reading." I said defiantly, standing my ground.

"Well that's not a fucking option now is it, so get your lazy, fat ass off that chair and let's leave. Don't make me come over there." I simply turned my head in his direction and looked at him. He let out this animalistic growl and stomped over to me. When he went to grab me, I flung my arms around the arm rests and held on with all my mioght as he tried to pull me from the chair. I used to do this with my older guy cousins when they wanted my spot. Even for his smaller size he had a surprising amount of strength in his arms. My hands started to slip from the silky material. I dug my nails in, but I couldn't fight it off anymore. My hands slipped and I was thrown over his shoulder before I had the time to stand up on my own. He slammed my stomach down onto his shoulder, knocking the air out of me. "Shadows wants to see you, and I'm not about to keep him waiting, so you wanted to do it the hard way, well know see what it gets you, we aren't fucking around here. when we want you to do something, you say yes sir and fucking do it, when you're told to. You may not understand this, but we're twice your age, atleast twice your size and we can and will out smart you if need be. Don't think that you have the upper hand on us, because you never will."

"Why didn't he just come get me himself?"

"Because his higness is too lazy to get up and walk down here." He harumphed as he started to stomp his way up the stairs. We got about half way up the stairs when he stopped and put my down on my feet, huffing, puffing and wheezing. He was doubled over and had his hands on his knees, catching his breath.

"Man, you really need to work out more." I said, this time I was the one with a smirk on my face, he just stared up at me, with a mad expressions on his face. When he stood up, I poked his little pudge in his stomach. He stood up straighter and stared at me, I looked at him with wide eyes and slowly started to back up as he started to advance on me. I turned around and started to bolt it through the halls, him chasing after me, I still couldn't help the smile that was plastered on my face. I whipped my head back around, still running, and watched him run after me, slowing down. "See, you're getting your work out right now!" Before i could turn my head back, I ran right into somone.

Before I could fall back, they caught me in their arms, just a foot before I crashed straight into the floor.

"Who are you talking to?" shadows whispered to me, loking infront of us. I tilted my head back and saw that the hallway was empty.

"Why does this keep happening to me?" He swung me back up and took his arms away from me, though the quick movement made me dizzy and I stumbled a bit, falling back into him.

"Are you drunk?" He asked me, staring into my eyes.

"No, of course not, I've never been drunk! I'm only 16."

"Oh girl, we've gotta change that. When I was your age I was bar hopping every night. You don't know what you're missing!" He laughed. "Now come one, let's go to my room." He smirked and started pulling me along behind him.

"But, I wanna go back to the library." I said.

"Yes, that's all good and well, but that's not what I want and remember, Sweetheart, what I want goes."

"But..." I said, twisting around, looking down the hallway. I was dragged though the open doorway and he soon closed the door behind us.

"No, no, no. No talking, we can talk after."

"After? After what? What do you mean?" I asked him all confused as he started kissing my neck.

"What do you mean after what? After we make love." He said inbetween breaths.

"No." I said firmly, trying to push him off of me

"What do you mean no, Baby? I was so nice to you yesterday, don't I deserve this? I don't wanna force you, I want you to want this too. I want you so bad, i deserve this, I've been a good boy."

"Of course I don't want this! I'm 16! I'm still a child, I'm not even an adult! Stop, get off me." I said, all while struggling to get him off of me.

"Don't worry, baby, once we get started you'll want this too, you won't want me to stop!" He struggled against me, pushing me up against the door, shoving his hands under my shirt. Though as soon as he did, he got a confused expression on his face as he brushed against the still fresh and raw skin of my once was tattoo. He immediately removed hi hands and tried yanking my shirt up, but I forced it back down everytime he tried to pull it up. After a while, he got frustrated with me and with a grunt he gathered both of my wrists in one hand and held them up above me, with his other hand he pulled up my sweater. "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?" He shouted at me, still in my face, spit flying onto my face.

"I- I don't know wh- what you mean." I said, silent tears pouring out of my eyes.

"Is that your fucking tattoo?" He screamed. "What the fuck did you do to it? I paid good fucking money for that! And you destroyed it, you little, inconsiderate bitch." With a big sigh he continued on, with a calmer tone. "I'll give you ten fucking seconds before I come after you." I satred at him not really knowing what he meant. "Tick Tock bitch! Do you want to get beat?" I scrambled out of his sight, out of the door without another second thought. I didn't know where to go.

I ran around the halls like a chicken without its head. I went down the stairs, down more hallways and finally, my feet brought me to the library. I ran in and immediately started looking for a spot to hide, but everywhere I looked there was an open spot, for anyone to see. Suddenly, I remembered the gap between the ceiling and the shelf. I looked up and immediately, I knew that that was where I wanted to hide, no one would find me there.

I scrambled up the ladder and when it wouldn't tak eme any higher, I placed my feet on the edge of the shelves and hoisted the top half of my body up, onto the dusty top shelf. I then wiggled and wiggled until the rest of me was on, pushing myself against the back wall. I top was covered in a thick layer of dust and there were dead bugs everywhere but at this moement, I didn't care.

Within a few minutes the double doors crashed open, banging against the walls.

"Where are you? You stupid bitch! I know you're in here, you really need to learn how to hide." When I didn't respond he kept talking, trying to coax me out of my hiding spot. "I can hear your breathing." I clasped my hand over my mouth immediately, tears were sitll pouring from my eyes, running down my hands and leaving marks in the dust on the shelf. I prayed that he wouldn't find me, terrified of what he would do in he did.
