You Can't Protect Me forever!
JOHNNY’S POV:
A few days before Christmas I had Zacky take Shannon out for the day, to get her out of the house so Matt, Jimmy, Brian and I could work on her gifts. We had decided to clear out our practice room and make it into a room of her own so she didn’t have to bunk with Matt anymore. She had no idea about this so she’s in for one hell of a surprise. It basically took all day to get everything done. Between painting, assembling things, and arranging furniture by time we were done we were exhausted.
Zacky and Shannon walked in the door around 7:00pm laughing. Zacky was wearing a hat made from balloons and a stuffed giraffe tucked under his arm. Shannon was holding an over sized lollipop and a bag of cotton candy. It was good to see her laughing.
“You went to the winter carnival without me?” Jimmy asked when they walked in.
“Had to man, I’m sorry.” Zacky said giving him a little shrug.
“That’s so not fair. You guys did all the fun stuff and I had to work.” Jimmy said. Shannon gave him a confused look.
“Work on my abs that is.” Jimmy said and lifted up his shirt. “Look at these things, there amazing.” He smacked his stomach a few times. We all laughed at his attempt to cover it up.
“Ugh, I’m getting in the shower!” Zacky told us. “I smell like some nasty carnival ass.”
“What did you have sex with a carni Zacky?” Brian asked him.
“No! The only one I had sex with today was Shannon.” Zacky said pointing at her.
“You’re such a dick!” Shannon said with a laugh and hit him in the arm.
Calm down Johhny, I had to tell myself. He’s joking… he’s only joking. As much as you want to, you CAN NOT beat his ass.
SHANNON’S POV:
Zacky was joking around with me, obviously. But it looked like Johnny was getting pissed at the things he was saying to me.
“Do you want a shag rug Shannon?” Zacky said and wiggled his eyebrows. “You know, for those nights you feel a little freaky and want a little four play with… let’s say with me.” He gave me a cocky little smirk.
“Oh my god Zacky.” I said laughing and shaking my head.
Johnny picked up his glass he had sitting next to him and went to throw it at Zacky but before it could leave his hand, Matt smacked Zacky upside the head.
“OUCH! What was that for?” Zacky said rubbing his head
“You even think about touching her I’ll hit you harder next time, and that’s a promise!” Matt said pointing at him.
“How do you know that I haven’t already?” Zacky said with a smirk.
Matt went after Zacky but before he could reach him Zacky was already running towards the kitchen and out the back door.
“Wow… I think we would all be safe not to even think about hooking up with you Shannon.” Brian said as he got up from his seat.
“Don’t worry about Matt, he’s just very protective!” I told them.
“A little?” Jimmy questioned. “You seem to forget about the time he beat a guy up for grabbing you in school.
“Yeah, but that’s different. That guy was a jerk who just wanted to get some ass. He lied to me and used me.” I said and looked down
“And that’s exactly why he beat his ass babe.” Jimmy said.
“I hope that’s not what he’s going to do now.” Brian said and pointed at the sliding glass doors that led to the backyard.
Jimmy, Johnny and I got up and followed Brian out the back door. Matt was chasing Zacky around the pool.
“Get back here Zacky so I can beat your ass.” Matt yelled after him
“No! Go away Matt, I didn’t touch her I promise.” Zacky yelled as he ran.
“Matt stop, he’s telling the truth. He really never touched me I promise.” I said and grabbed his arm as he ran by us.
He stopped running and gave Zacky the death glare.
“Now I’m really going to kill you for lying about it!” Matt said and pointed at Zacky.
“No! You’re not going to touch him Matty, please stop.” I said and wrapped my arms around him and hugged him “You know that I hate when you, or anyone else that I care about fight.”
“Yeah Matty.” Jimmy said mocking me. I turned to him and balled my fist and glared at him. He found this to be amusing.
“Hey, no fighting remember? You said so yourself.” Brian said
“He knows I won’t do it anyways. I’d end up hurting myself more then I hurt him.” I assured him. “And besides, you can’t go beating everyone up who touches me Matt”
“Yes I can.” He said with a laugh.
“No, you can’t and you know it. I know you want to protect me from the assholes out there. But they may not all be like that you know. And besides… I already have my eye on someone anyways, and you WILL NOT touch him you hear me?” I said and pointed my finger at him.
“Yes ma’am.” He said and put his hands up in defeat and laughed a bit.
“Is it safe for me to move? Or will he kill me?” Zacky asked.
“I think you’re alright now Zacky.” Brian told him.
“Good.” He said and slowly made his way past Matt and into the house to shower.
Wow… I knew Matt was protective, but I’ve never seen him go after one of his best friends like that. What would he think if he found out that I liked Johnny? What would he do if I started dating him? I didn’t even want to begin to think about how he would treat him.
We all headed back in the house and settled in the living room. Matt and Brian were in their usual spots and playing COD while Zacky was in the shower and Jimmy, Johnny and I were in the kitchen fixing something to snack on.
“So…” Jimmy began. “Who’s this mystery dude that you have a thing for?” Jimmy asked.
“Never you mind.” I told him and set a plate in front of him and one in front of Johnny.
I wasn’t about to tell anyone I had a thing for Johnny. One, because Johnny was sitting right there and he didn’t even know. And Two, because of the way Johnny acted before with blowing me off and sending me mixed signals, and three… because they really didn’t need to know anyways!
JOHNNY’S POV:
So Shannon liked some guy. Could that some guy be me? I know how she’s been acting towards me for the past two days, then her getting upset when I wouldn’t talk to her. It made me more sure about myself with the Christmas present that I got for her. She came back in the kitchen and sat next to me while Jimmy and I finished eating.
“I’m so tired.” She told us while stretching.
“You should get some sleep. I’ll clean up for you.” I said reaching over and rubbing her shoulder. “Alright.” She said and gave me a little smile.
She stood up and walked over to Jimmy and wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug.
“Goodnight Jimmy.” She said and kissed his cheek.
“Goodnight hun.” He said and hugged her back. Then got up and walked to the sink and washed off his dish. She walked over to me and held her arms out to me. I stood up and she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a little squeeze.
“Goodnight Johnny.” She said then lightly kissed the corner of my lips.
“Goodnight babe.” I said to her. I expected her to back away then, but she didn’t, she kept holding on to me.
“You ok?” I whispered to her.
“I’m good.” She whispered back.
And with that, I knew things would be ok. That after Christmas everything will be different with us.
