"Oh come on you fucking cunts!" I yelled into my headset. "This is TEAM deathmatch! Hence the word team! Work on it motherfuckers! Goddamn!"
I heard laughter come from the other side of my earpiece. "Wow, KillGurl. You're fucking intense," one guy said.
"Yeah!" another agreed. "Are you as hot as you sound?"
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help to smile. "I guess you'll never find out,huh? Plus, you're not my type."
"Oh yeah? And what is your type?" he asked.
"You have a penis so that automatically makes you not my type," I said as the match ended.
"Oh guys, we have a lesbo!" someone replied.
I opened my mouth to reply but my mother opened my door and leaned against the frame with a hand on her hip. I gave her a small smile then told the guys I had to go. They all said bye and I shut down the system. I turned to my mom and stood up straight.
"Hello, mother dearest. What brings you in here on this beautiful morning?" I asked and she rolled her eyes.
"How is it that you can get up at the crack of dawn to play those video games but not to do chores?" I shrugged
"This is more fun?" She rolled her eyes again.
"Come on. I have breakfast waiting for you, then Brian is taking you to school." She turned and left my room and I moved to my mirror to fix my chin-length brown hair. I wrapped a short, black and purple scarf behind my bangs then draped the rest of it over my shoulder and grabbed my bag before I hurried down the stairs. I smelled bacon.
And I was right. There on the table in front of me was a plate piled high with bacon, pancakes and sausage. I loved my mother. I pulled up a chair beside my dad and started filling up my plate with yummy breakfasty goodness. My dad smiled over at me as he took a sip of coffee.
"Well somebody is hungry this morning." I nodded.
"Very. I was up at five this morning."
"Playing that game again" my mother added. "I heard her yelling at it again."
"Hey," I said pointing my fork at her. "Call of Duty is a very intense game. You should hear Matt play it." I laughed. My cousin's friend and bandmate, Matt, played COD with me all the time and sometimes, I think he forgot I was fifteen by the way he cusses. Or he just doesn't care.
A knock came on the backdoor which was located here in the kitchen. My mom wiped her hands off on a towel and moved to open it. Standing behind the door was my favorite cousin (ever!) Brian. He smiled as he sauntered into the house and came to hug my dad.
"Hey there, Uncle Adam. You look cleanly shaven." my dad laughed and Brian gave my mom a kiss on the cheek and she laughed.
"Hello Brian. Here to pick up, Melody?" Brian nodded and came over behind me and hugged me.
"Indeed I am. Hey mel. You look gorgeous." He tried to steal a piece of bacon off my plate but i swatted his hand away.
"Stay away from the food, Bri! You know better!"
He laughed as he sat down across from me and started piling food onto a plate. My mom rose an eyebrow at him. "And who invited you to eat our food?"
"We're family," he said stuffing his mouth full of pancakes. "We share food. It's in the rules."
After breakfast, I said goodbye to my parents and followed Brian out to his silver car. I climed into the front seat and pulled out my phone to text my girlfriend.

I pushed send and sat back as Brian pulled out of the driveway. "So how are you and Cat doing? Are things still hard at school?"
I sighed. "Unfortunately. We've been together over a year and a half and still, nobody excepts us."
It was the dumbest thing ever. I loved my beautiful Catalina more than I could say but the kids at school teased us constantly. I was just glad it was almost summer and I'd be able to forget about them and spend time with my girl.
We pulled up to the school and I saw Cat waiting for me at the curb. She smiled as we parked and Brian unlocked the doors so she could open it for me.
"Hey Cat," Brian said as I handed her my bag.
"Hey Brian," she said. "Thanks for dropping off my mels. I got it from here." Brian nodded.
"You take care of her."
"I shall."
I leaned over and kissed my cousin on the cheek and smiled at him. "Thanks, Bri. I'll see you after school. I'm still coming over to your place right?"
Brian nodded. "Yes ma'am. You too, Cat." She saluted then I shut the door and he drove off. After he was gone, I looped my arm through hers and we made our way up to the school.
Cat laid her head on my shoulder as we walked. "How was your morning, my gorgeous?" I leaned over and kissed her forehead.
"Not bad. Played some team deathmatch early this morning."
She laughed. "Of course you did. My little gamer girl."
We were almost to the front door of the school when we were stopped by none other than Shawn, the school bully.
"Well, well, if it isn't the nasty ass dykes."
