Eat, Play, Love

Chapter One

"Bay, can you bring me the new Used CDs that we just got?" Bryan asked from sitting in his little make-shift office. He had set it up when we first got here. And by here, I mean a storage place; it's where he does a lot of his interviews. We just have it set up rather nicely. "Of course, Bry." I said with a smile on my face. I grabbed the small box from by the door before walking into what he liked to call "The Office." He even has one of those plaque things outside the door that says "The Office" with his name under it. Much like the TV show. Nerd.

"Thank you. The guys should be here in about ten or fifteen minutes, so will you please make sure that everything is hooked up, working and ready to go?" I simply nodded at his request before leaving the room. I had to make sure that everything was ready before the members of the band The Used arrived for the interview that they had planned with Bryan. It wasn't that hard of a job, but a job is a job none the less. And I wouldn't be able to say that I even had a chance for this job if not for my dad.

See originally when I was hired, it was just as a errand girl. Go get coffee, snacks, pick up packages; things like that. But the audio techie, Daniel, quit a few days ago. So I took up his job as well. But like I said beforehand, I wouldn't have this job if not for my dad. See now, my dad walked out on us when I was just two years old; for some unknown reason that he doesn't feel comfortable with telling me just yet. I may not like that excuse but I will respect his limits. He will tell me when he's comfortable with it. I came out to Huntington Beach when I turned seventeen to find him. Which I did successfully, and since my mom sadly passed away shortly before I came to find him, he took me in. I've been living with him ever since.

I had been living with him for about half a year when he told me he was tired of having a teenager lounging around on his couch like a slob every day, that I needed a job. After weeks of trying and trying, I was unsuccessful at getting hired anywhere. So dad called up his friend, Bryan, and hooked me up with a job here. It was pretty badass I had to say. I mean most of the bands he's interviewed, I listen to and love their music. So what's not to love about this job?

I had just gotten Bryan's mic hooked up and working when he came waltzing into the room with four other men, who I immediately recognized as the members of The Used. "Bay! There you are." Bryan smiled. I subconciously rolled my eyes at the comment. He knew exactly where I was and what I was doing. "Here I am." I smiled a tight and very fake smile to the tall man. "I want you to meet some people. This is Dan, to his right is Quinn, then to his right is Jepha, and finally we have Bert!" Bryan smiled to me, keeping his eyes on the band members. They all looked scared. Like they were about to be brutally murdered or like they wanted to run away. "I want you to get them comfortable while I go get the questions alright?" He didn't even give me a chance to respond before he was out of the room.

I looked at the guys in front of me, and couldn't stop myself from laughing. "You guys don't have to look like you're going to be brutally murdered or anything. You're perfectly safe I promise you...the only thing that you wouldn't be safe from is the fan girl inside me. But don't worry, I have that under lock down, so like I said before. You're perfectly safe here. " I laughed at them. Quinn slightly nodded his head. Dan was standing there texting away on his phone. Jeph was standing there looking oddly at Bert, who was just looking at me, but he looked as if he were going to fall on his face at any moment. "Would you guys like anything? A drink? Food? You can sit down if you'd like. " I hadn't even noticed that I had begun mumbling.

That was when Bryan came rushing back into the room saying that they needed to get this done soon. So they all sat down on the couch, and I pressed the record button on the camera before turning around. I pulled my phone from my pocket and checked my messages.

From: Daddy <3
Val and I are going out for dinner tonight. I left fifty bucks at the house for when you get home. Jimmy's coming to pick you up; order pizza for the both of you!

I smiled to myself after reading the message from my dad. It was a typical thing for him to do; especially since his wedding is coming up soon, he deserves to go out with Val. And I'm overjoyed that I'm not getting in the way of their happiness anymore. It's a tough thing I mean. Because when I first got here, it was the day before their wedding. They called it off because of my bad timing. Though it was mostly Matt, wanting to make sure that Val would still want to be with him even after she found out about his past. It made me kind of happy that my own father was smart enough to do that. Not many people are anymore.

After the interview was over, I took the SD card out of the camera before sticking it in a case and shoving it into my pocket. Bryan was wrapped up, talking to Quinn and Dan while I was putting things away. Jeph was standing over at the small refreshment table that I had set up for them, and Bert....well I lost Bert, but I'm sure someone would find him....Eventually. So it wasn't really my problem at this point. That is...until I bumped into him, causing the five wires that I had coiled up to go crashing to the floor. "Shit, I'm sorry." He mumbled, running a hand through his greasy, black hair. "Don't worry about it. Happens all the time." I smiled up at him while picking my things up.

"Can I make up for it? I didn't mean to bump into you?" He looked sincere about it. "You can buy me coffee stranger!" I joked. Immediately, his face lit up into a smile before he reached out and grabbed my phone from my pocket. "Alright then, I'll call you in a day or two and we'll meet for coffee!" He laughed before walking off." I was only joking!" I said, but it was too late. He was either A) too far away to hear me, or B) ignoring me. I rolled my eyes at the thought and finished putting things away before running outside. Bryan was standing there with the guys; it looked like they were becoming quick friends. Jimmy was already there, I easily recognized his black SUV sitting in front of me. "Bryan I'm leaving!" I shouted before running up and getting in the car.

"Hey sexy." Jimmy winked as I closed the door, it made me giggle. "You have a good day at work, babe?"
