Living in the dessert definitely has its faults. Like for example the sun that is currently beating down on my neck or the sand storms that like to pop up out of nowhere. With all that being said though as miserable as it can be sometimes I still call it my home.

" hey Perez, heads up!" I looked up just as I felt an envelope fly into my arm.

" Thanks Myers, cause got forbid you hand it to me" I yelled back at him smirking sarcastically.

" It's only cause I love you Perez." He smirked back continuing tossing mail at his unsuspecting recipients.

it's sad to say but I hadn't received a letter in over two years since my father died. He was my only family left and all my friends were right over here with me. So I wasn't exactly raking in the mail.

" ah it's probably junk mail anyways" I said to myself and stuffed it into my pocket and continued cleaning the sand out of my riffle. All throughout the day my mind kept trying to over analyze what could be in that envelope so finally after chow I headed back to my tent and ripped it open. My eyes grew wider and wider as I took in what was infront of me. I slowly looked up to see if anyone was looking at me and laughing because this had to be a joke. This couldn't be true. I must have read the paper 20 times and held the plane tickets up to the light inspecting them to see if their fake. Exactly how you can tell its fake is beyond me but i was in another world right now. I was shook from my own personal twilight zone as I felt my bed sink down beside me and my friend Anna's face inches away from mine reading my letter.

" Oh my god Frankie!" I turned to meet her shocked face finally realizing that maybe this wasn't a joke maybe for once in my life one if my dreams was coming true.

" So you think this is real? I mean I entered that contest like 6 months ago I had completely forgotten about it" I asked her thinking maybe she could help me make some sense out of this before my head exploded.

" Girl I told you they would pick your solo, your amazing with the guitar you just don't have any self confidence. Remember I had to practically baracade the door and not let you leave till you recorded it and sent it in?" She practically yelled in one breathe throwing her hands in the air which made me giggle. I don't know what I would do without this girl she was the ying to my yang as extremely corny as that sounds. Without her I never would have recorded my guitar solo and entered This contest.

" This is true, and when I become famous and marry synyster gates ill come back and get you" I laughed knowing damn well my luck was never that good. Just this right here was alittle out of my league.

" You better or ill find you and kick your ass Perez!!" She grinned shaking her fist at me.
This honestly couldnt have come at a better time. Because of the cut backs in the military I wasn't able to re enlist and I was scared out of my mind. I literally had no one to go home to I really didn't even have anywhere to call home. But right now I had a ticket to Huntington Beach, CA and a private lesson with zacky vengeance and synyster gates and I couldn't be happier. The week passed and I had just arrived in Kuwait to fly out and head back to the states. I looked back one last time and I made my way onto the plane and took a deep breathe knowing I had to move on wether I liked it or not. After a couple days of traveling I finally made it to Huntington Beach. As soon as I grabbed my luggage from the carousel I flagged down a cab and checked into a hotel. One good thing about being overseas so long is I really didn't have to worry about money for a while. Which was good because I had to pretty much rebuild my life out here from the ground up. I took a quick shower and then began unpacking my bags until I remembered that I had absolutely no civilian clothes besides some sweat pants and a ratty old t shirt and I needed something to wear tomorrow. So I threw on the sweat pants and shirt and headed out to find a clothes store. I finally found one not too far from the hotel. I felt so out of place it wasn't even funny. And the other people in the store sure weren't shy about confirming what I was thinking. It was written all over their faces. I had been wearing acu's for so long I didn't even know what to look at but I didn't have time to dilly dally so I grabbed the first few things I saw that would complete some sort of outfit and headed to the checkout. Once back to the hotel room I laid out my clothes and settled in for the night. Well atleast that was my intention I probably slept a whole two hours and then spent the rest of the night watching the facts of life reruns. Once I saw the sun peeking out I decided to hop in the shower then head down and grab breakfast before getting ready. I made it as far as the entrance to the hotel breakfast area before I decided I might wanna skip it. Knowing I was going to be meeting zacky and sysnyster in a few hours I figured with my nerves if I ate I pretty much had a 99% cance of throwing up right infront of them and I wasn't willing to roll those dice. I went back up to my room and finished getting ready before calling a cab to take me over to the music store.

" welp here we go, just don't freak out" I chanted to myself quietly earning a weird look from the taxi driver.

" Here ya go kid were here, now just don't freak out" he laughed mocking me from earlier.

" Ya thanks" I sheepishly let out handing him the money and stepping out of the cab to stand right infront of the doors. The doors that once I opened them and walked inside I might pass out, I might puke but most importantly were my two of my five favorite men in the world.
