Me and Zacky were sitting on the couch, watching TV. We weren't talking much, we were too nervous for Mia and Brian's return from the drug store. Around noon they entered through the front door, Brian holding a brown bag. Mia looked scared. Me and Zacky were the only ones awake besides Matty, but he'd gone into the basement to play Call of Duty.
Brian patted Mia's back and tried to give her a reassuring smile as she walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
Brian sat on the couch opposite Zacky and I.
"I'm sure it'll be fine dude," Zacky said, trying to reassure his best friend. Brian nodded and replied,
"I sure hope so. I'm 23. I can't be having a freaking kid. I've got concerts and tours and.." He stopped. Mia emerged from the bathroom and sat down next to Brian. She said shakily,
"And now we wait." Brian put his arm around her and she burried her face into his chest, trying to hold back sobs. It would be ten minutes before we knew what the test said. Zacky and I took this time to reveal ourselves,
"Guys, there's something you should know.." Zacky began. Brian and Mia both shot up. Brian asked,
"Yeah?" Zacky gave me a look and I gave him a reassuring smile. I didn't think it was very convincing, but he must've because he continued.
"It's our fault." He said all in one breath. Mia and Brian gave each other a confused look. Brian said,
"No it's not..? Well, you guys did introduce us, but it's not your fault we had sex."
Zacky shook his head at Brian like he had at me the previous night. Zacky said,
"No, it's our fault she might be..you know.." Brian still looked confused, until as if in a split second he realized,
"The drawer..the empty box..that was you guys! How could you not buy more?!" Brian stood up, practically shouting at Zacky. I tried to hold Zacky's arm down but he stood up to, face-to-face with Brian now, she shot back,
"Well you guys risked it! That part isn't our fault." Brian was about to fight back but he knew it was true. He immediately apologized,
"Dude, I'm sorry, I'm just really stressed out at the moment." Zacky answered,
"Not a problem, but still." Brian was about to say something but Mia burst into tears,
"Oh, Brian! I'm so sorry!" She cried. Brian stroked her hair and said,
"Baby I told you a million times, it's not your fault. Don't apologize. I'm here for you." Mia's sobs were now quieter, but still audible. We all sat around in the scared silence.
The timer that we'd set went off and Mia jumped up as if she'd seen a ghost. She looked very frightened. Brian said,
"Come on babe," And held her hand as they walked to the bathroom.
She picked up the pregnancy test and looked at it. Her eyes widened and she fell into Brian's arms,
"Oh my God!" She shouted.
